[Official] Red Dead Redemption

Does it get better? I've only played a little bit but it's boring as hell.

It gets a lot better once you get to mexico.. until then it can be pretty boring yeah.. actually when you face Williamson at Fort Mercer that's when the whole thing starts intensifying and has a lot more action.

Just got to Mexico and didn't hear the Jose Gonzalez song :(

Did you get off the horse straight away? If you did it the probably glitched and you missed it. My partner did that and I got annoyed because I was waiting for it to come on when he got to Mexico! But he ruined it, and I got sad :(

No, i rode around for a bit and waited for the song to start but it didn't :(

I wish i had saved the game before Mexico so i could try again.

Ive had about a week or two with it and I'm still not sold on the game.

I love all the GTAs especially GTA4 and i love the go anywhere do anything aspect of these games but i find myself overwhelmed in Red Dead. Sounds like a silly criticism but i can spend hours playing the game and not actually do anything maybe 1 story mission completed. You set off to go somewhere and end up in some other completely different place doing something completely different than you set out to do and i find that very frustrating as i like to do all the story missions first then mess about after the games completed getting all the side quests, collectables etc..

I dont really find the story compelling either why should i care if Marston used to be in a gang and that hes married and is hunting some guy, it doesnt make me care about him like i did for Niko trying to escape his past and seek fortune in Liberty city. I hate Marstons voice actor as well he sounds a lot like Earl from My Name is Earl and i hate him with a passion.

The stranger and chance encounter system was fun for about 10 minutes then i got bored of being ambushed, thrown off my horse, having to shoot bandits attacking a treasure hunter etc..

I also have a big gripe about the control schemes, why should i have to press X to run or tap it to sprint, every pad has an analogue stick why cant i push it forward a little bit to walk and the full way to run like every other game and why oh why did they change the control scheme from GTA, i was all fingers and thumbs at first trying to get to grips with the controls.

The graphics are amazing though i just perched on top of the train and let it take me around the world the contrast between some of the areas is stunning.

Im going to keep plugging at it though hopefully it will just "click" for me like GTA4 did.

You know you don't have to interact with the various things you see going on... you can just ride straight past. Or if you can't resist use the fast travel in your campsite or the coach.

Also what is the difference that's tripping you up between the these controls GTA's controls, I found it a pretty simple transition on xbox at least...

I defiantly don't think the story is as good GTA4, but none the less I enjoyed it. How far are you? In Mexico?

Anyone else starting to lose the will to play the game?

I know I'm near the end, atleast at the last guy and I've already done a few of the last storyline missions, but I can't be arsed. Even the online stuff (PS3) isn't that great, well its been a while since I played online with it but could never get more than 4 people in free roam (ports open and DMZ'ed). I knew I should have just waited till it fell below £25 before buying....

True but i was like hyped about this game i couldnt wait for it to come out, but now its like meh, i can get more than 4 people in free roam if i quit the free roam that im in 3 or 4 times. But still sucks that you cant get that number off the bat. The story did drag on abit there towards the end and im kinda disapointed about the end too.

Yeah ive reached mexico i still find it uninteresting. Stick to cover button is different, and from what i remember you dont have to hold a button to run etc..

Flower picking and hunting were fun for about 2 seconds.

Yip thats excactly how I felt/feel. Oh well, I'll finish it off soon. Don't think co-op will be any better, I never seem to be online at the same time as those on my friend list :p

Still working on 100% game completion. At 94.6% percent complete. Have sharpshooter 10 ambient challenge, outfits, and bounties left to do. Having trouble fitting the game in. Crackdown 2 demo, Transformers released, new CoD barebones playlists, Gears of War triple EXP weekend. All happening around the sametime.

On xbox these are the same. It's always been hold A to jog, tap A to sprint.

The Mexican area is pretty awesome, though I felt the story is a bit dull.

Flower picking and hunting defiantly aren't going to keep you occupied for hours, but it's pretty fun to complete the various challenges.

I love it when someone starts team killing then when i contently kill them for team killing they get on the mic and cry and want me voted out lmao. They cant handle sh*t givin back to them.

I TK'd once by a total accident. I was on the floating raft-thingy ... while trying to snipe people in Mexico. One of my teammates decided to stand up just when I was about to fire. Yes.. direct head shot.

Such a good game, still playing through the campaign.

As am I. I've been progressing through it quite slowly, but that's usually how I am with open world type games. I just like to take my time and enjoy the view :).

Though the game is starting to suffer from the same problem that the Grand Theft Auto games had (at least for me), in that I'm starting to reach a point where I just want it to be over. In the beginning, I was doing a lot of extra activities in between missions (like hunting, stranger missions, blackjack, etc.), but now I'm almost just doing the missions exclusively. Though in all fairness, that probably says a lot more about my attention span (or lack thereof) than it does about the game. Overall, I'm quite impressed with RDR. What's particularly impressive for me is the writing; Rockstar certainly has come a long way.

I'm about half way through playing this game a second time. It's a great game and I like seeing things I missed first time round. :shiftyninja:

Same, I'm also playing this through for the second time. But this time, my goal is to 100% the game. Will take time but this is what summer vacation is used to for to spam time.
