I've heard that there's a 1.21 update out for the phone but i haven't been prompted and the manual check says it's up to date. Not sure when T-Mobile will be rolling it out.
If you are feeling impatient, the full RUU is out over at Mocado and XDA.
Update was fine for my unbranded Desire...I've since rooted and flashed Pays 1.2 Sparta ROM which runs great and at 1267MHz overclock too.
Niceee 1.3Ghz, how hot does that make the phone, and bet you battery life is almost non-existent.

Random question, once I make a GoldCard, does it stay a GoldCard forever? For example, I made my GoldCard and successfully flashed my Desire, and ever since I have been using it like a normal SD card. And now I want to flash another image/ROM, do I need to re-make the GoldCard? Or does it still have its GoldCard "status"? Any ideas?

How's the desire with the Orange UK branding?
It's not that bad, but it is enough to be annoying.

I really want that HD video recording update now that iPhone 4 has it...

The Nexus One has been hacked for 720p video recording so if all else fails the Desire can probably be hacked too.

Just more evidence that rooting is the only true path of the geek. The indefatigable coders over at xda-developers have just pushed out a download that allows the Nexus One to start shooting video at 720p resolution. You'll need to have at least CyanogenMod version 5.0.8test3, but once you get your house in order, you'll be enjoying one of the big touted features of the latest handsets on your five-month old Googlephone. Pretty neat, and what's even better is that work is already underway to improve audio and the fps rate, as well as making the code compatible with Android Froyo, it all just requires a bit more tinkering. So, hit the source link to get the download or join us after the break for a quick sample video.

On the YouTube clip uploaded I cant see much if any difference between the 360p and the 720p video, although i'm sure thats just down to YouTube.

Been looking to get one but they are sold out everywhere around here laugh.gif Really popular phone.

Similar situation in the UK, I was fortunate and only had to wait a couple of days for mine on Orange (branded sadly) will be changing that tonight though I think, first free night I've had since getting the phone.

Certainly worth the wait though, so currently wouldn't look to get something else just because you can't get hold of one yet!

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not backing off - Just have to arm myself with some good ole' patience. The Desire is really the only phone that has my interest, plus I also

need a decent contract to go with it for some cheap data to go with it, no point in having a smart-phone without the ability to go online, check emails, use messenger etc.

I got that too but cancelled it. Next big update is 2.2 whenever that gets released.

Is it true that it wipes your memory when Android gets a big update?

Really looking forward to what the app community pulls together now we can install to the sd cards.

Oh - and I love my Desire; the iphone4 does not scare me and I'm laughing at all the "sheep" who are going to run out and buy apple when the Desire is all an average person really needs.

Does anyone know if the GPS issue in Australia has been fixed? Also whats a good dataplan to go onto over there? Looking at YES OPTUS as the cheapest.

Just got my Orange e-Bill. And I am not happy. £63.52! Just gave Orange a bollocking, they have ****ed it all up. I should be getting charged around £25-27 per month. But standard practice is to charge for 2 months at the start of the contract (would have been nice of them to tell me when I took the contract out). And Orange Care has been applied twice to my account, at £6 per month. When in fact I have it in writing (email) that it will be £1 per month for the first 18 months, and then £6 after that, not to mention that my first month is free, and my 10% discount doesn’t seem to have been applied properly.

Rang them after I got home from work, gave the woman a bollocking (which I later apologised for when she called back), she went away and chased the correct people for me. However, being a Friday afternoon and the World Cup. She was finding it very difficult to do anything, anyway she rang back. And she has escalated my problems to the Head of Sales, and the £1 per month offer doesn’t exist anymore. Hence why it wasn’t applied to my account, I argued the point that at the point of sale it was still “live”. She agreed, and said the Head of Sales would be able to override that for me.

Gonna find out on Monday (fingers crossed) if it has been sorted!

**** I need a beer.

I gotta laugh.

Got a letter from the repair service.

They say the phone was damaged by humidity and won't repair it for free.....they want to charge me a new phone, since they say that one can't be recovered.

I am really speechless.

To those unaware, i did the HTC update and the phone wouldn't boot anymore.

It remains on the white HTC screen.

Occasionally it starts and will reboot by itself.

Well, tomorrow i will head to the store and see what they say because the repair is done by a 3rd party i believe.

I am a good Sunrise costumer, 2 cellphone contracts, 1 unlimited mobile UMTS contract, 1 landline and 1 internet 15Mbps ADSL.

Anyone has a good tip for my fight tomorrow ?

I got my Desire yesterday! I'm really lovin it!!! :D

Came with an Asian ROM which had Chinese, Thai etc as input methods. Had english also, but it would keep showing me word suggestions while typing in those languages also, so I went ahead and flashed a new WWE ROM on it!

Really awesome phone! Super smooth, and responds to the lightest possible touch also!

Eagerly waiting for the 2.2 update from HTC! :)

Ok, so they won't repair my phone or give me a new one.

They say it CANNOT be repaired.

They say it was damaged by moisture, which i doubt. Imo, they just removed the battery and saw the red sticker.

The problem is clearly caused by a faulty ROM. Since they updated the boot to .80. I believe something went wrong with the update.

I'll get my phone back, which now they ask me to pay 45.-. Damn ****ers.

I'll reflash it myself, make it work and try to seek my rights.

BEWARE of the humidity sensors. Apparently there are 3 of them.

These sensors are not reliable at all and can turn red easily.

This was my last HTC product and the end with Sunrise Suisse.

I wish you all good luck with your Desires.

Ouch, My first bill went through fine-ish £30.68 (£25 a month), had to pay 'pro-rata' to match a billing date, and I was signed up for paper billing(£1.50 per month).

Although I bought mine through a re-seller.

I'll be sure to check my 2nd bill.

Don't all the sensors need to be red?

This came up on a BBC show called Watchdog about 2 weeks ago, although it was about the iPhone.

Try and watch it if you can, or visit their website....I can't remember the outcome

I've been waiting SIX WEEKS for my Desire from Orange (ordered the Black). I'm taking the fact that the Orange website is staying in stock longer and longer as a good sign that they are getting more delivered than are going out immediately.

Still, six weeks is a long time...and I'm starting to get disillusioned. I know that will pass, as I still get that child-like feeling of glee when I think about what it will be like to open the packaging when it does arrive.

Has anyone been able to get Swype to work on their Desire?

If so, what version is it?

The one I have says its installed but i cant see it in my apps - then when i manually try to launch in astro it says something about com.android.touchinput not found.

I'm really eager to try it out after reading about it.

Good question, i'll look into that.

I'll ask for a detail description.

Thanks for the tip.

    • So how did you solve the problem? Disabling Secure Boot isn’t a solution.
    • Another devilish issue surrounding these certificates is what can happen with old, unsuspecting PCs that nevertheless have Secure Boot enabled. In my case, it was a Dell with a 3rd-gen Core chip (so about 13 years old). As of the last few weeks, it was suddenly BSOD'g within about 5 minutes of booting. Turns out it was because of MS's "Secure-Boot-Update" scheduled task, which is scheduled to run 5 minutes after login. It's explained in gory detail here (this is not my post, but it was where I found the answer), but the short version is that this legacy system would need fairly elaborate, manual certificate intervention since MS's automatic cert update method cannot work. How to do that is linked late in the thread. https://www.bleepingcomputer.c...od-caused-by-scheduled-task Secure Boot wasn't at all important for this particular PC, so I disabled it to be done with the problem.

Flip the new mode switcher to Builder, set everything the way you want it, and save the result as a Winhance config or an autounattend file ready for deployment on other machines. Sponsors & Supporters page — the exit donation dialog is gone. In its place, an in-app page (heart icon or the More menu) recognizes the businesses and individual supporters who keep Winhance free. It works offline and is fully localized. Change History — Winhance now keeps a receipt of everything it does. ChangeHistory.txt records every setting change (before and after values) and every app install or removal, with clear headers for config imports and bulk actions. Open it from the More menu. Hebrew language support — Winhance is now available in 29 languages. New Explorer customizations: desktop icon visibility toggles, This PC folder visibility, an icon cache size setting, and automatic thumbnail cache cleanup. New "All apps view" setting for the redesigned Windows 11 Start menu, and the Windows 11 system tray icons setting is now a dropdown with more control. App-local UI zoom — press Ctrl +/-/0 or use Ctrl+MouseWheel to scale the whole app, just like a browser. New External Apps: EA app, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, Rockstar Games Launcher, PowerShell, and Helium Browser. Bug Fixes Layouts no longer clip when the Windows text size slider is set above 100%. Accessibility: Narrator now announces setting names on toggles and dropdowns, previously unlabeled buttons are labeled, and progress updates are announced. Silent updates now respect your custom install location instead of reverting to the default. Cancel in Review Mode no longer clears your app selections. OneNote is now detected correctly for Win32 Click-to-Run installs. Clean Start Menu applies more reliably by also writing the group policy path. WinGet errors are no longer silent — error details now show in the terminal output. Fixed a startup crash on older Windows builds caused by a .NET runtime regression. Config import now converts power setting values correctly and no longer re-applies an already-active power plan. Improvements App icons load noticeably faster and cover almost everything now, including legacy capabilities and optional features — they come from a dedicated, checksum-validated icon repository and are fetched in parallel. Software & Apps polish: per-icon tooltips, extra table columns, an app sort dropdown, relocated search, and a cleaner compact view. A warning now appears when the Connected Devices Platform Service is set to Manual or Disabled, since some Windows features depend on it.
