You would lose FriendStream, there's no alternative to that as far as I am aware. If you use the 'People' widget, that's out in LauncherPro Plus, so you can keep that. The only other thing would be the fancy clock and it's visual/sound effects. The clock you can get in Fancy Widget, but the effects are solely on the SenseUI.

If you can use the standard Android calendar, contacts, messaging system then you won't be losing much. It depends if you want to keep the HTC appearance or can live with other alternatives. Even after using my brother's Desire, I'm not sure how far the SenseUI goes and what functionality it adds.

Then again, if you only want to lose Sense due to Froyo, there are legit ROMS out there with Froyo AND SenseUI.

Running official 2.2 here (ROM is @XDA), 720p recording is pretty good. No FPS issues here.

Really? I only get around 18fps when recording @ 720p.

I have the MoDaCo Custom ROM for HTC Desire r5 release flashed.

Edit -

Something that might appeal to the gamers out there, psx4droid the Playstation Emulator for Android has been released.

I have tested it out and must say all things considered for a Playstation Emulator running on a mobile phone its pretty impressive, some games are quite playable. Most games dont quite work at full speed and have a few sound problems.

However one of my favorites, Circuit Breakers, runs at full speed so I would imagine some other less demanding games might do too. The emulator will also load PS1 games converted to run on the PSP.

Very impressive for a first release all the same :)

Yeah mate, honestly no problems here with the recording or the playback. Do a nandroid backup, and try out the Official 2.2 ROM over @XDA.

Yeaaah, saw that pop up on AppBrain. Doesn't look half bad to me, won't be grabbing it just yet.

Apparently the 2.2 Update is going to start rolling out to European Desires from tomorrow (Staggered release)

About time really.

The Alpha's for the Galaxy S were leaked this morning, and that's only been out a few weeks. The Desire has been out a few months and still not got it. Pretty poor on HTC's part.

Think I might just hold the purchase on this and just wait until January when my O2 simplicity contract is up.

It's not long to stick it out with my 3G for, but I'll wait and see how finances go over the next 1~2 months.

I finally took the plunge and rooted, installing the "Official 2.2" ROM :) HD recording is indeed very nice
Start customizing the crap out of it now then ;)

I'm only missing one thing. I used to use the HTC messages widget alot. But now that I have replaced the standard home screen with LauncherPro it is no longer available to me. Anyone got any ideas as to a replacement? Ideally I want something nice and simple like you see in my 3rd home screen - can you believe that is the Urban Dictionary widget, very nice, simple and smart.

Through the twitter app you can take pictures and have the phone automatically upload it, love that.

But, it uploads it to "Twitgoo" where the picture is HEAVILY resized to a tiny blurred thumbnail almost - Is it possible to do something about that, have it display higher res ( Logged into Twitgoo, no luck )

or have it upload automatically somewhere else =/

When I see people upload pics on twitter through some server, it's always a high quality shot.

Can someone just explain to me about Facebook integration?

While I like the idea of having someone's face on the screen when they are calling, I don't really like the idea that Facebook will overwrite anything when it connects to it.

Thanks

It won't. The Facebook account stuff can be linked to or unlinked from an existing contact. You can then set which "linked" item is displayed in your contact list

Wallpaper :p

And is that widget for the battery/GPS/whatever something you downloaded or does it come with 2.2?

Where do you even get unlocked ones. Even if you buy them PAYG they're still locked to the network usually.

in Denmark, most phones can be bought with either a contract or unlocked, price is just a bit higher for unlocked phones.

Bought mine off a computer hardware store online.

    • But it opens the floodgates to anyone who gets a refund instead of a replacement (since refund will buy you a 1/3rd of the capacity it did years ago)
    • He has planned to file a lawsuit in small claims court so it'll only be a $1000 lesson assuming he wins. That's likely a fraction of what Samsung spends on toilet paper on a daily basis.
    • Windows Server gets DNS over HTTPS (DoH) support by Usama Jawad For the past few months, Microsoft has been previewing DNS over HTTPS (DoH) for Windows DNS Server, touting it as a foundational upgrade for zero-trust enterprise networks. It essentially introduces encrypted, authenticated DNS for the networks rather than transmitting DNS traffic in clear. Now, the company has introduced the general availability (GA) of this feature. The GA of DoH encourages organizations to deploy the solution in production environments without implementing a new client-to-resolver architecture. DoH helps improve the overall security of the network and reduces the risk of spoofing due to its zero-trust design. This is a significant change because pretty much every interaction with the network requires interfacing with DNS. DoH offers several advantages over standard DNS traffic, such as encryption using HTTPS, preventing unauthorized inspection, man-in-the-middle attacks, and traffic analysis. Since it leverages TLS certificates so that clients can verify the identity of the DNS server, it prevents spoofing through this authentication mechanism. Additionally, it's built on the DoH standard defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which means that it should work with modern RFC 8484-compliant clients. Finally, it integrates into the existing network architecture seamlessly and can even run in parallel with standard DNS, so that customers can migrate to the new technology at their own pace. Microsoft says that in the past few months of preview, DoH has become more stable, and customers can confidently deploy it in production environments with proper guidance. Microsoft has emphasized that migrating to DoH is necessary for organizations that are moving toward zero-trust DNS solutions. Windows clients already support DoH, but the latest availability on Windows Server provides encrypted DNS to all endpoints. The company has also mentioned that "while this release focuses on encrypting client-to-resolver communication, support for encrypted communication between Windows DNS Server and upstream DNS resolvers is planned for a future update." You can follow Microsoft's guidance to deploy DoH here, but keep in mind that you need a Windows Server 2025 installation with the latest Patch Tuesday updates installed.
    • Lol I had one of these turn faulty in Jan, guess it wasn't just bad luck lol
    • I'm team Rossmann all the way. I have the exact same NVME, altough not in an array like him.
