LatinoReview is reporting a rumor that Caleb Landry Jones (Friday Night Lights, The Longshots, The Last Exorcism) is Matthew Vaughn?s top choice to play Sean Cassidy aka Banshee in X-Men: First Class.

Banshee is an Irish mutant named after a legendary ghost from Irish mythology, said to possess a powerful cry. According to wikipedia, he possesses a ?sonic scream? capable of causing physical vibrations and harming enemies through sound. In the comic books, Banshee was more than a decade older than most of the X-Men and had a exciting past as an interpol agent and NYPD police officer. The character became a mentor to the Generation X junior Massachusetts Academy X team of the 1990?s alongside Emma Frost. So it appear that Singer?s storyline mixes the comic book storylines up a bit. Actor Jeremy Ratchford portrayed the character in a 1996 live-action Generation X television movie.

During my most recent conversation with a Marvel Studios source, I was told that one of Professor Xavier's definite students in Fox's X-franchise relaunch, First Class, will be Jaime Maddrox, known to most fans as Multiple Man. Considering that this is the same source which clued me in to Benjamin Walker's potential casting as the mutant student Henry McCoy (Beast) several weeks ago, I feel fairly certain this information is viable.

For those of you unfamiliar with the character, here is a brief biography according to Marvel.com: 'Jamie Madrox's mutant ability was apparent at birth when a duplicate was created upon his being slapped by the doctor. Two weeks later, Jamie's father resigned from the Los Alamos Nuclear Research Center and moved his family to an intentionally isolated farm in Kansas at the suggestion of Professor Charles Xavier. From a young age, Madrox was given a special suit to wear that would neutralize his mutant power, but before this could be explained to him a freak tornado killed his parents when he was 15.'

The character has already appeared once on film in X-Men 3: The Last Stand, and was portrayed by Grey's Anatomy actor Eric Dane. So far, at least three young actors have been seriously approached to fill the role.

X-Men: First Class is being directed by Matthew Vaughn. The cast so far includes James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Benjamin Walker as Henry McCoy and Alice Eve as Emma Frost. The film is slated for theatrical release on June 3rd, 2011.

On twitter, surfer Erica Hosseini revealed that she recently auditioned for a role in Matthew Vaughn?s X-Men: First Class. We now have more information about the audition, and as it turns out, Erica says she auditioned for the part of ?Willow?. More information, after the jump.

Erica tells Straight2DVD (via: CBM):

?I was auditioning for a role named Willow (hopefully I don?t get in trouble for blabbing details on the off-chance that I get it). It?s a role similar to Mystique from what I understand. Potentially lots of body paint, so that would be really fun.? ? ?I was extremely nervous and reading my lines the best I could. But I have absolutely no acting experience. I really hope that I get a call back, but I?m not holding my breath.?

We don?t yet know if Hosseini has been cast in the part, but we do now know that the character Willow is featured in the new movie. According to wikipedia:

Willow is a fictional mutant character created by Marvel Comics for their Marvel 2099 run X-Nation 2099. This short-lived series only lasted six issues before ending. In the year 2099, a young girl named Winter Frost, like many teenagers, got a job at a local amusement park. But Million Palms Amusement Park wasn?t like others, it actually had a king and a queen who presided over it. One day Queen Perigrine disappeared, and they found her body at the bottom of the Tunnel of Love. After that day, King Avian began to be suspicious of everyone and required genetic scans of all incoming tourist before they could enter. Anyone with genetic anomalies was imprisoned in an underground labyrinth and subjected to many tests and acts of torture. Winter was discovered to be a mutant and was imprisoned like many others. Among the inmates was a tormented girl named Willow who seemed about to die. The two girls became friends, but then Willow was taken away again by Avian. Winter tried to escape to save her friend, but didn?t get far before she was discovered. For her actions she was sentenced to public execution. When she was taken to be executed, she saw that the king and queen were presiding over it. However, the queen looked different, having the same marks on her face that Willow had. In fact it was Willow?a mutant shapeshifter?and the young girl orchestrated their escape from the facility. The pair arrived at Halo City, the home of X-Nation and joins the group. They moved into a home for indigent children which is maintained by the ?Sisterhood of the Howling Commandos?. Cerebra, one of the members of the current X-Men assists the Commandos in teaching the children.

Okay, so this might sound familiar because we posted a piece in May that speculated Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson might be in line for Matthew Vaughn?s X-Men: First Class.

It all started when Johnson was spotted ?taking a meeting? with Vaughn and James McAvoy, who it was later be announced was cast as young Charles Xavier (aka Professor X). An earlier report claimed that producer Bryan Singer (who was originally supposed to direct First Class but was unable to due to his Jack the Giant Killer commitments) was using Giant Killer?s casting process ?as an opportunity to look for potential X-Men, vetting actors who may be qualified to play a young Cyclops or young Jean Grey.? And it was also reported that Singer had met with Johnson and Andrew Garfield about the possible leading role in Giant Killer.

And now a second source is claiming (or confirming?) that Johnson has been cast in First Class.

A tipper who goes under the nickname ?Son of Rothman? (a reference to Fox head Tom Rothman) tells Aint It Cool News that Matthew Vaughn has cast his Kick-Ass lead star Aaron Johnson as young Cyclops in X-Men: First Class. The tipper claims ?this is one hundred percent locked at this point,? although you never know. I?m sure we?ll find out next week, if not at Comic-Con later this month.

19-year-old actor Lucas Till (Walk the Line, Dance of the Dead, Hannah Montana: The Movie, The Spy Next Door, and the upcoming Battle: Los Angeles) has been cast in Matthew Vaughn?s X-Men: First Class. According to Entertainment Weekly, Till is in negotiations to play the role of Alexander ?Alex? Summers aka Havok, the younger brother of the X-Men?s Cyclops. But EW warns that some of the role named might actually be part of a misdirection campaign to keep some of the characters a surprise for comic book fans.

Here is more information on Havok thanks to wikipedia:

Havok generates powerful ?plasma blasts?, an ability he has had difficulty controlling. He is the son of Corsair, the younger brother of the X-Men?s Cyclops and older brother of Vulcan. He often resents Cyclops? authoritative attitude and reputation as a model X-Man. In contrast, Havok and his longtime love interest Polaris have had a love/hate relationship with the team, often finding themselves roped into it. Both were also members of the 1990s-era Pentagon-sponsored mutant team X-Factor. After X-Factor disbanded, Havok starred in Mutant X, a series in which he explored a strange alternate reality. He has since returned to the X-Men, later taking over his father?s role as leader of the Starjammers to bring Vulcan?s reign over the Shi?ar to an end. Alex went on to study and earn a degree in geophysics at college. There he first met the original X-Men, and learned that Cyclops is his brother.

In case you?re confused, here is the official casting thus far:

* James McAvoy is Charles Xavier aka Professor X

* Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Dr. Henry Philip ?Hank? McCoy aka Beast -

* Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, Hunger) is playing Eric Lensherr aka Magneto

* Alice Eve, the lead actress from She?s Out of My League, was in talks with Fox to play Emma Frost.

* Caleb Landry Jones (Friday Night Lights, The Longshots, The Last Exorcism) is Sean Cassidy aka Banshee.

Kevin Bacon is reportedly in talks to play the villain in the upcoming X-Men: First Class.

According to Deadline, studio Twentieth Century Fox has put out an offer to the Footloose star.

If he accepts, Bacon could join a cast that includes James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), Lucas Till (Havoc) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast).

Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is helming the superhero prequel, which is scheduled to open in June 2011 in US cinemas.

Jennifer Lawrence, the actress who?s been getting rave reviews for her work in ?Winter?s Bone,? has been cast as Mystique in Fox?s ?X-Men: First Class.?

Fox has been furiously casting the movie, which focuses on Marvel's superpowered team X-Men in a younger incarnation than the previous trilogy.

Matthew Vaughn has been casting a slew of younger actors to play opposite James McAvoy, who is playing Professor Charles Xavier, and Michael Fassbender, who is portraying Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto. Nicholas Hoult, Alive Eve, Caleb Landry Jones and Aaron Johnson are among those playing mutants looking for mentor figures and teachers to guide them with their powers.

Mystique, who was played by Rebecca Romijn in the trilogy, is a shape-shifter who can mimic other people, though she cannot replicate superpowers. In comics lore, she was revealed to be the mother of X-Men member Nightcrawler.

Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Lawrence are flying first class.

Bacon's deal to star in 20th Century Fox's origins pic "X-Men: First Class" is done, while Lawrence ("Winter's Bone") is in final talks.

Lawrence will play the mutant Mystique.

Bacon will play a villain, but his exact role is being kept under tight wraps. Some fanboy websites have suggested he will play Mister Sinister. Fox declined comment.

Matthew Vaughn is directing the film, which toplines James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, respectively.

"First Class," conceived by Bryan Singer and penned by Jane Goldsman, follows MacAvoy and Fassbender as young men discovering their powers for the first time, and meeting up with other mutants.

Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing the origins pic, set for release June 3, 2011.

Deadline reports that Twilight and Twilight Saga: New Moon actor Edi Gathegi will play character named "Darwin" in X-Men: First Class. Since the production for the film is starting soon, FOX is fast tracking the actors for Matthew Vaughn's directed film.

Darwin is able to adapt to any situation. His reactive mutation adjusts his capabilities to his environment. For example, his eyes would adapt to seeing in darkness, his lungs would adapt to poisoned air. He would become impervious to heat or smoke in a fire and he would grow gills when put underwater.

Thanks to X-Men Wiki for the info!

From the confirmed actors in the film we have James McAvoy as young Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult is playing Hank McCoy, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee.

Inception's dream sequences force X-Men: First Class rewrites

You may have been thrilled, puzzled, moved, bewildered, excited or confused by Inception, but one thing we're willing to bet is that your heart didn't sink when you watched Christopher Nolan's latest hit. No, only one person felt that way?director Matthew Vaughn, who suddenly realized he'd have to make massive changes to the script for X-Men First Class.

Vaughn, who's working on the X-Men prequel film in London, took a break yesterday to catch a showing of Inception, and was horrified to discover that the film's dream sequences meant he'd have to scrap at least a dozen pages of the script for First Class.

"I saw Inception, which I loved," Vaughn said today. "But my heart sank when I saw that a few of the ideas we had were up [on the screen]. So it's either leave it in and look as if you're copying or change things. We completely ripped out about 12 pages of the script and the storyboards."

According to herocomplex:

The jettisoned sequence was a sort of dream-space combat, according to Vaughn; that reminded me of "psi war" scenes like the one ... from The Uncanny X-Men No. 117 way back in 1979, but the filmmaker said for the film the fight involving Professor X (James McAvoy) and some other mutants was to going to be presented with spinning rooms and other physics-bending imagery?visions that he felt drifted too close to signature moments in "Inception."

Do you think Vaughn was right to react this way? Or should he have left his planned storyline intact?

X-Men: First Class is due to be released June 3, 2011.

Jason Flemyng will play Azazel, a teleporter, knowing in the comics as Nightcrawler's father.

Superherohype described:

"The character first appeared in "Uncanny X-Men" #428 in a storyline called "The Draco" where we finally learned that Kurt Wagner a.k.a Nightcrawler was the son of the lead of an ancient race of mutants, from biblical times no less, who looked like demons and who could teleport by opening portals into other dimensions. In the comics, Azazel had been banished to the "Brimstone dimension" by angels, but left that dimension to father children, one of them being Nightcrawler."

Flemyng confirmed he will involved in make-up process and his tail will be added in post-production.

Flemyng has stars in Clash of the titans, Kick-Ass, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Stardust, Snatch and many others.

It seems that actress Rose Byrne ("Troy") is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to join the cast of the upcoming prequel "X-Men: First Class". The Hollywood Reporter website is reporting that Byrne will be playing famed scientist Dr. Moira MacTaggert, who was previously played by Olivia Williams in "X-Men: The Last Stand". They are also stating she will be a love interest for Professor X (James McAvoy).

This week, expect a casting update for X-Men: First Class every day. It?ll be like a mutant advent calendar, where we open little doors that reveal who?s cast in small to medium sized roles, hopefully leading up to the reveal of an actor for Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, the last of the film?s leads.

For now we?ve got news, via Deadline, about Oliver Platt joining the cast as a non-mutant character called The Man in Black. Not a lot of info on the character at this point ? I don?t even see info in the Marvel Wiki about the guy, so if this is a small character from recent X-Men lore, please offer up info in the comments. But I?ll take Platt in just about any role.

Until then, marvel at the cast Matthew Vaughn has assembled for the film: James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Lucas Till as Havoc, Edi Gathegi as Darwin, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Jason Flemyng as Azazel and Kevin Bacon as the mysterious villain.

The X-Men: First Class casting train just keeps rolling. We said this week would see a flurry of news, and now here?s another batch of casting announcements. Some of the roles are pretty big, some are minor, and they?re all buried after the break, because that?s just the way things have to be.

Deadline offers up a whole plate of news. The big notes are that January Jones and Zoe Kravitz will play Emma Frost and Angel, respectively. (Queue up your questions now: I?ll get to them all in a moment.) And 10-year old Morgan Lily will play the young version of ?Raven?. Finally, Bill Milner will play young Magneto.

OK: question time. First up is probably ?uh?isn?t Angel a dude?? To the best of my knowledge, yes. So did Deadline get wires crossed and is Kravitz actually playing a character like Storm, is Fox deliberately sending out wrong info, or have Matthew Vaughn, Jane Goldman and the other writers, along with Fox, pulled a switch? (Keep in mind that Angel was seen in X3, too so we?ve already seen the character as a man.) We don?t know, to be honest. One of the first two options is most likely.

Furthermore, wasn?t Alice Eve playing Emma Frost? That was the report, but Deadline says that deal never went through. And XMenFilms.net was saying that Morgan Lily would be the youthful Mystique, rather than Raven?Oh, but ?Raven Darkholme? is the real name of Mystique. OK, one point of confusion cleared up, at least.

The Mystique casting isn?t very exciting, when the very capable Jennifer Lawrence is on hand to play the more adult version. But it might say something about what we can expect to see ? some of Mystique?s origin, at least.

A final question: are Cyclops and Jean Grey even in the film? There?s a good chance they?re not; I?ve heard both yes and no, but at this point am being told that this is basically the Professor X and Magneto show, with a lot of these extra characters on hand to fill things out. That is, the ?no?s very much outweigh the ?yeses?. In the meantime we?ll look for info about Angel, and try to clear up that tidbit of news for certain.

With filming on X-Men: First Class officially a-go this coming Monday producer Bryan Singer decided to clear up a few details by calling Harry at AICN. He addressed a few key issues such as who Kevin Bacon will be playing, who the main villains will be, and most importantly of all?whether James McAvoy will be bald.

You can read the full story here, but i?ll point out the main points below: (possible spoilers)

- Kevin Bacon will play Sebastain Shaw, leader of the Hellfire Club. The group is an international social club for wealthy elites who seek to influence world events to their own agenda. Shaw possesses the ability to absorb kinetic energy and transform it into raw strength, and he will be joined by telepath Emma Frost (January Jones).

- James McAvoy will not be shaving his head as we will see Xavier pre-hair loss, but we will see how be injured his legs and became confined to a wheelchair.

- The film takes place in the 1960′s. John F Kennedy is the President of the United States. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X are on TV doing marches. There is a spirit of a hopeful future that was prevalent in that time.

- Singer is excited that the film is going to have a much more international feel than the prior X-Men movies. They?ll be shooting in England & the United States and countries such as Russia will be represented in the film.

- Director Matthew Vaughn is inspired by James Bond?s technology of the time. The costumes will be far more comic bookish than we?ve seen before.

- Cyclops, Jean and Storm will not be in the film. This, along with the absence of Wolverine, means Fox is being pretty bold by making an X-Men movie without the big 4. It was mentioned early on that Fox intends First Class to spawn a new trilogy, so there is a good chance we will see these characters in a sequel after Xavier has set up his school.

An X-Men movie set in the 60s is quite an interesting prospect. I am official excited for this.

With cameras rolling next week we may get some set images in the near future, and hopefully Fox will release some official stills along with way.

James McAvoy jokes that he wants to "bury" Patrick Stewart's work as Professor Xavier. On a more serious note, he says he'll start out by playing the character somewhat differently from how Stewart did, but the goal of this movie (and its potential follow-up) is to take the character to a place more in line with how Stewart played him. McAvoy explains:

"I think the fun about these films, when you go back and you either reboot or do a prequel, is you get to see how people became who they are. That means that you have to do them differently and by the end of the movie you have to do them the same way. The interesting journey is what happens to them, what changes them, what makes them evolve - not just mutate, but emotionally and psychologically evolve. I would suggest by the end of the movie and the start of the next movie, it'll be more like what Patrick does. Or maybe not. Maybe it will still be in a period of flux, if there is a new movie."

Shooting on X-Men: First Class is well underway in the United Kingdom and reports keep coming in from all over the web, including a number of tweets from British entertainment personality Jonathan Ross.

"I probably shouldn't tweet this," Ross wrote earlier today, "...but - saw some footage from X-Men First Class this morning. It will be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He quickly followed that, adding, "Also I was there for the filming of a January Jones as Emma Frost scene...in lingerie. Fanboys, start your drooling...."

Meanwhile, the Joy in the Journey blog has turned up more on-set photos, including a look at the logo being used during production. Keep in mind, logos like this are often temporary and tend to change quite a bit before films hit theaters.

What would make me excited about this is if they did this film as a set up to a fourth X-Men film with the original cast.

**** it. Just do a Days of Future Past storyline that would conveniently wipe out the events of X-Men 3 >_>.
