When you do content aware fill, select more than just the white area. That way you don't get those white patches.

cheers for that, pretty amazing results

it seems to me that the JPG compression has created a 'border' at the edges of the white, so 'fill select' based on the white colour isnt going to really work, abit of the picture around the edge has to be discarded
