Sydney restaurant replaces menus with iPads

Recommended Posts

I never tip here in Australia. I might say 'keep the change' but never would I give anyone more then they need.

This reminds me of my first night in London, UK. The girlfriend and I had no clue as to what the proper tipping etiquette was in the UK, and I didn't want to ask the waiter (didn't want to risk ****ing off the person serving our food), so I had to approach another server and ask how things worked.

This sort of thing is a great idea, but I'd draw the line at giving them directly to customers, just the waiters would be sufficient.

Devices like this so waiters can take accurate orders and send those orders straight to the bar/kitchen are wonderful, I just wish all restaurants would have wireless PDA devices (not necessarily iPads) for their waiters.

Nice idea but how they gonna stop people stealing the iPads? they aren't cheap to replace and relying on good faith of the customer is a huge risk!

Dine and Dash will have a whole new meaning and cost a whole lot more for the restaurant lol.

Neat idea, but I don't know if I want to be holding something that millions of other people have been touching with their greasy hands lol. Also, sort of a lot of money to spend for something that shouldn't cost nearly as much... A table of 8, cost you roughly 3 grand just to pass out menus to them...... Not a very smart or fiscal way to do business lol.

Am I going to have to put a security deposit down for you to take my order mam? :p

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
