Macsen
I hope they wipe them down after each customer with alcohol wipes. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/907736-sydney-restaurant-replaces-menus-with-ipads/page/2/#findComment-592719766 Share on other sites
neufuse Veteran Posted June 7, 2010 Veteran Share Posted June 7, 2010 Seeing how people treat paper menus, I dont know how this can last long..... I'd rather reprint a $5 paper menu then order a replacement iPad for hundreds Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/907736-sydney-restaurant-replaces-menus-with-ipads/page/2/#findComment-592719788 Share on other sites
BillDozer357
I never tip here in Australia. I might say 'keep the change' but never would I give anyone more then they need. This reminds me of my first night in London, UK. The girlfriend and I had no clue as to what the proper tipping etiquette was in the UK, and I didn't want to ask the waiter (didn't want to risk ****ing off the person serving our food), so I had to approach another server and ask how things worked. +Ryster Subscriber² Posted June 11, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted June 11, 2010 This sort of thing is a great idea, but I'd draw the line at giving them directly to customers, just the waiters would be sufficient. Devices like this so waiters can take accurate orders and send those orders straight to the bar/kitchen are wonderful, I just wish all restaurants would have wireless PDA devices (not necessarily iPads) for their waiters. Explosification
To be honest, I really don't think the restaurant menu is something that needs revolutionising. I'll stick with card menus and humans for now. Solid Knight
Sounds like an expensive menu to break. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/907736-sydney-restaurant-replaces-menus-with-ipads/page/2/#findComment-592740616 Share on other sites
shakey
Nice idea but how they gonna stop people stealing the iPads? they aren't cheap to replace and relying on good faith of the customer is a huge risk! Dine and Dash will have a whole new meaning and cost a whole lot more for the restaurant lol. Neat idea, but I don't know if I want to be holding something that millions of other people have been touching with their greasy hands lol. Also, sort of a lot of money to spend for something that shouldn't cost nearly as much... A table of 8, cost you roughly 3 grand just to pass out menus to them...... Not a very smart or fiscal way to do business lol. Am I going to have to put a security deposit down for you to take my order mam? :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/907736-sydney-restaurant-replaces-menus-with-ipads/page/2/#findComment-592740644 Share on other sites
c3ntury
Well, the downfall is.. if someone steals a normal menu is costs the restaurant 50p.. if someone steals a iPad acting as a menu is costs alot more ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/907736-sydney-restaurant-replaces-menus-with-ipads/page/2/#findComment-592740676 Share on other sites
