Gameplay:

The game is modeled similarly to its predecessor Crackdown, a third-person shooter in open world game play. The player character is an advanced super-powered officer for the city-funded "Agency", known simply as the "Agent". This time around, increased levels of customization for the character are allowed, unlike the presets offered before. Along with that, the orbs from last time are coming back, but the powers are expanded and enhanced, i.e, the Agility Skill allows the Agent to jump higher than in Crackdown, and provides a 'dash' maneuver, as well as opening up a special helicopter.

Driving is also a big portion of Crackdown 2, as in the first game. You?re able to commandeer any number of vehicles in the game, including police vehicles and other futuristic vehicles. The demo also provided a short look at some of the checkpoint races that fans would be able to check out within the city.

Like Crackdown, the game will allow for on-line co-operative play in the main game, but will now support up to four players. The game will also feature competitive multiplayer modes for up to sixteen players. While the original Crackdown supported System Link playing for co-op, Crackdown 2 won't be featuring the same option. Microsoft Producer Peter Connelly stated. "It would've taken a half-day of work, for something that only a tiny percentage of gamers will ever use".

The player will fight both gangs of criminals and "freaks"-strange infected mutants. Both can be killed with melee attacks but different shooting strategies will be required for the different foes, normal guns for humans, custom-built uv guns for the non-humans.

Skills:

There are 5 skills to be leveled up:

  • Skill #1 is Agility, to obtain agility you go from rooftop to rooftop collecting agility orbs or by doing Rooftop races.
  • Skill #2 is your Firearms skill which is leveled up for using any sort of firearm (not including rocket launchers, or hand-hand weapons.
  • Skill #3 is the driving skill, which can be upgraded via killing enemies by running them over, racing, and collecting renegade orbs with your vehicle.
  • Skill #4 is the explosives skill which can only be upgraded by using rocket launchers and grenades.
  • Skill #5 is the strength skill which is upgraded by punching, kicking, bashing, and smashing with melee weapons like stop signs and street lights.

Multiplayer:

Multiplayer playlists include game modes such as Rocket Tag and Team Deathmatch. The game modes take place in Pacific City, but the players will be limited to certain areas for the length of the matches.

A co-op game type allows you to party up with up to 3 more friends. In co-op, you can obtain special orbs known as "Online Orbs" or "Xbox Live Orbs" which give an overall bonus to all your skills. There are no limitations to the co-op mode. It plays like single player except the campaign missions will only advance for the player that hosts the game.

Demo Achievements:

John Noonan announced on Twitter that Crackdown 2 would be the first Xbox 360 game to offer achievements in the demo. If an achievement is unlocked in the demo the player will be awarded that achievement when first playing the retail version of Crackdown 2.

The 10 achievements that can be unlocked in the Crackdown 2 demo are:

  • Open up a can
  • Co-op keepy up
  • Strike
  • Victory roll
  • Mosh pit
  • Pin cushion
  • Bomberman
  • Car Jump
  • Pile Driver
  • Street sweeper

Each achievement is worth 10 gamerscore, here is a guide that will help you unlock each achievement.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been done before really, how else to best get people to play your game.

Whether it would be PS3 Trophies or Xbox 360 Achievements, stick a couple in, not a lot of them, but enough to pull people who wouldn't usually play the game and they might end up buying it.

I love achievements and this sounds like a good idea, but I will probably not buy the game though.

Then you out of luck I'm afraid.

Crackdown 2's demo will feature ten Achievements worth 10G each when it is released next week, Microsoft has revealed.

Official Xbox Magazine editor John Hicks sends back word from E3 that the announcement was made at a swanky game-related launch party in Los Angeles tonight.

<br clear="all"> Sadly, you'll still have to buy the full game to add your Achievements to your Gamerscore. You thought they'd make it that easy for you?

However, until then, you'll still get the bragging rights. And that's 50 per cent of the battle.

CVG

Pity, sounded like an awesome idea, but now its just limited, lol.

Indeed bit of a shame that, would have been nice to have a few achievements early.

Either way I pre-ordered the game for ?30 when all them game codes were going about last year, so I might get 10 achievements when I first load the game up if thats how it works. :)

If you were to Google "Digiex" you would find the Crackdown 2 demo, you can inject it in to your harddrive / usb memory stick or even burn it to a DVD.

I have sent a PM to a mod asking if I can link to it.

Demo also has 4-player co-op...

Co-op and achievements in demo headed to Xbox LIVE

A demo of Ruffian Games' third-person action sequel is due to go live today and will enable players to experience the game's "accelerated Agent levelling, four-player co-op, and the ability to earn Demo Achievements," according to Microsoft.

?Demo achievements can be upgraded to the real thing...?

Demo Achievements will be upgraded to the real thing if you go on to purchase the full game, out on July 9. To help you decide if it's worth the 1GB download..

Just played the demo. Meh, IMO. I didn't care for the demo of the first, and I didn't care for this one.

The graphics are horrible. I know it's cell shaded and all that, but there are tons of cell shaded games that look good and this one, frankly, does not. The gameplay is alright, but it's just like playing a shooting gallery -- it feels like what a third-person shooter would be if it were made by a hack-and-slash developer, or a button-mashing fighting developer.

I'm sure you'll all be horribly surprised to know I love it.

I've already played through it four times, and I'm working on 100 or so ;)

The variety appears to be much bigger on this game...the other had invasions, footraces, car races, this one I've noticed mobile stat supplements, ground breaches to seal up, the various stages of the Project Sunburst actions, the audio logs to find...judging by the videos I've seen theres probably more to it, but I may not be able to find it all in the demo before I get the full game. I could do without the 'coop mode only' orbs though. It cheapens the experience.

I'm not surprised at all, I have honestly lost count of the amount of times we played through the demo this weekend, 4 player co-op is a lot of fun!

Also you have to remember the demo has a fraction of the content the retail game will have, I have seen so much more in the videos that is not available in the demo.

If anything the demo makes the game look bad in some respects, I really don't think it does the game justice... (from what I have seen in videos anyway)

Crackdown 2 to me is like a fun version of GTA 4, I can not wait to play the 16 player deathmatch on it!

I think the only downer is the game has no system link, although I have Xbox Live Gold some mates I wanted to play this with don't.

Over at neogaf they have instructions on how to glitch the 30 minute timer to allow infinite time on the demo. Makes the game sooooo much more playable. There are barriers that stop you from exploring the whole city and you cant do any race challenges but other than that the game actually becomes fun and achievements way easier. Limiting the time limit to 30 minutes was such a bad move. It made the demo not even worth to download, let alone do the whole viral contest just to get it 3 days early. So glad they found this glitch.

The demo is limited to Gold subscribers, which in my opinion a stupid, stupid move.

You pay, you get more?

There have been a lot of demos restricted to Gold subscribers for no reason whatsoever, but this one is because it has four player co-op which requires a gold subscription to play online.

Not lots, but every demo since 2008 (maybe even earlier), has been Gold first for a week and then Silver.

And no it's not a stupid move, it's another incentive for people to sign up to Gold = more money in their pockets. Also, the game might have a time light, but you can simply reboot the demo & play it over as many times as you like. Stop being petulant children with the whiny excuses, "not even worth downloading", ha.

Nothing whiney about asking for a demo that actually lets people take their time to explore the allowed areas of the game without the worries of a time constraint or having to start a demo over. Especially a demo that allows co-operative play. Its an opinion, not asking you to agree with it. But certainly do not just dismiss it and resort to automatic name calling. If we are going to call anything childish, lets call that action a childish move.

Demos aren't meant to be unlimited, I'm not sure why you expect this one to be any different? It's certainly not the first one to do it either, so it shouldn't come as a shock.

You're lucky you even get a demo, they aren't free you know. They take time/money out of development to create them.

Worries of a time constraint? If that's what worries you in your life, then you must have it pretty damn easy over there.

Well seeing how the game has built in barriers to keep you from progress to most parts of the cities and its missions, and the fact that it would hurt aboslutely nothing in doing but only help, I see abosolutely nothing wrong with requesting something so simple.

The demo is already made, no extra cost is removing something so miniscule when other preventative measures are in place.

Lets chaulk another one up for the childish comments remark. You know nothing about my life please do not pretend you do. But please go ahead and continue to ramble, your muted.

One of those new features includes the ability to uninstall AI models in Windows 11 with a single click. Windows 11 is finally getting fixes for its slow context menus. Marcus Ash from Microsoft confirmed that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are going to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." According to Marcus, Microsoft will share more details soon. • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
