Sadly it's my g/f's birthday the day before release, so i'm already getting stung that month. Think i will end up with just the collectors edition as also paying for flights to Cyprus over Christmas/New Year :)

Ouch :p

Also, to reinforce my point earlier, anyone remember this?

"So, props to Kazunori Yamauchi-san and the PS1 team," said Greenwalt. "That said," he continued, "I feel that he's passed us the baton. Perhaps he hasn't meant to, but we have taken the genre to new levels and they've stopped evolving the genre. So again, tremendous respect to him, but I'd say the differentiator is they're old school." He conclued, "The emperor's naked, and I don't want to, you know, I don't want to slap him around, but no game competes [with] us right now."

Up through GT5p, Turn 10 did pwn the GT series. With GT5 final, Turn 10 just got pwnd.

Especially with this info:

Here's a quick overview of what's been discussed in the TGS 2010 GT5 breakout session:
  • Laguna Seca has been completely rebuilt and will return for GT5. Trial Mountain has also been confirmed.
  • "Gran Turismo Anywhere" will allow you to manage B-Spec races, right from your computer. You'll be able to hold B-Spec races with your friends from anywhere in what are called "Remote Races".
  • GT5 will feature a series of special events such as the Karting Experience, the AMG driving school, The Stig Challenge, Jeff Gordon NASCAR School, Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge, and Gran Turismo Rally.
  • Point-to-point rally stages will be automatically and randomly generated – you'll have to depend on your co-driver to give you the best instructions about the road ahead.
  • Rally mode can be played either on or offline.
  • Weather changes include temperature differences, air pressure changes, and humidity, affecting the surface conditions of the track dynamically.
  • Weather conditions are randomized. Forecasts for your race will be available but may not be entirely accurate, just like the real world.
  • Polyphony Digital has helped Red Bull Racing's Adrian Newey design the X1 Concept – an "ultimate" racing car, free of any technical regulations.
  • Polyphony Digital has worked to improve engine sounds.
  • Yamauchi admits that, in certain situations – such as standing race starts in the rain with 15 other cars on the screen kicking up spray in front of you – the game may not be able to hold 60FPS. Otherwise, it will strive to hold 60FPS as often as possible.
  • The Volkswagen Kubelwagen, which has a drive system like the first beetle, and the amphibious Volkswagen Schwimmwagen will be in the game.
  • Many things didn't make the cut in Gran Turismo 5, and work on Gran Turismo 6 has already begun.

Boo!! :( lol I think that might be forgiven as long as it's not a massive drop though.

I task all the current racing sim devs this generation to try 16 cars on a track in dynamic weather at 1080p/60FPS locked :p

Some dips in situations like that are okay as long as they're not jarring.

Yeah I know, I was just messing, I think even getting what they are achieving out of the PS3 is some kind of miracle but certainly looks to be showing what it is capable of given the time and budget.

GT5 just backhanded the entire Turn 10 team.

Yeah looking back at that quote, I guess sometimes it's just better to keep quiet. PD might have been oldschool in previous versions, but this has brought pretty much everything and more to the table except livery editors.

Turn 10 had no choice...F3 beat GT4 of course, but its not fair to compare it against GT5:P, because it was afterall just a big demo.

"Gran Turismo is a great game and when it comes out I'll play it. But I think that without the partnerships and without the commitment, it will be very difficult for another team to replicate what we've done."

Now on to Forza 4 :)

Already posted that.

Sony are releasing the GT5 assets tomorrow, so no HD trailer until tomorrow :(

HOWEVER, whilst we wait on Sony, Red Bull have a new trailer for us ;) Shows off weather.

:woot:

Ignoring the quality of the video, GT5 weather looks to be really impressive.

I know I know, just having my fun :p

I just hope this shows the very small percentage of people who accused PD of doing no work/twiddling their thumbs that Japanese developers just don't parade around like developers in the West. They keep their mouths relatively shut and just get on with the work.

This game is going to crush my social life, and I don't even want to think of what's required to get a platinum trophy laugh.gif

Time to get the GF convinced she's buying me the signature edition.

Please don't bring that trash into here, a joke or not, it will just rile up Forza fans and could easily lead to pointless arguments, and all you've doing is gloating in the same way that PD haven't been. :p

But I'm not Japanese and GT5 is very gloat worthy ;)

I agree on both counts, well, unless your like some weird Scottish Japanese Guy and haven't told us, a little gel and that hair of yours would go all Final Fantasy.... :p

Anyway, don't annoy them Forza fans or we will have to deal with the backlash in our nice little topic.

Well, I do love my henta.... nah, 100% Scottish.

Well, to be fair, I'm a hardcore Forza fan, but I respect all sim racers, and GT is and certainly has been a huge name in sim racing for a long time. I'd be a fool to say that GT5 isn't impressive, it certainly is, but rather than look down on Forza fans, I do believe, coming from someone who respects a game for what it is, that it would be wiser and much more mature to just realize that Forza 3 cannot be compared with GT5, on any scale. I wish all the Forza fanatics who start arguments over these things would realize the same too. I believe sim racing is the ultimate test of skill and patience in gaming, and Forza and GT manage to do that the best out of all the sim games. Rather than fight over which one is better, it would benefit us all to just see ourselves for what we are rather than what specific game we play; sim racers.

Anyway, that's my nice little epic rant, back on topic, GT5 is looking great :).

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
