To be fair, he wasn't far off the mark, and certainly closer to the real date than the rest of the GH crowd over the years. Either way, this release will be remembered for being a shambles.

It will be remembered as a landmark racing sim actually ;)

Release. Not game.

L2read? :D

Meh, who cares about the release now that it's 11 days away.

If anyone is still upset about waiting 5 years, here's an apology for you to feel better

"Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Programme!" commented Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc. "When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with GT5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologise to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."

Oh come on AB... you know as well as anyone else that they will still find a way to throw a backward spin on it (apology or not).

Many hours are about to be wasted away in front of this game. So excited. :woot:

Like it or lump it, people will remember. Just like the 360 will be remembered for RRoD, PS3 for $700, PS2 for Disc read error, Wii for waggle, GC for being kiddy etc etc etc.

Or Haze, Orange Box, Lair etc being awful.

I didn't say it'll detract from being a good game. I'll call it now and I bet the first paragraph from the majority of reviews will start with the delays/dev time.

Not much into racing games, but this seems like a must buy.

All the videos lately have looked amazing. I love how they got the mist from the tires in rain to actually blow the same way the wind is, and just how everything looks with the weather.

Looks like I have to either figure out how to get the Microsoft FF wheel I have to work on the ps3, or buy a FF wheel very soon lol.

Most likely saying the dev time was a good thing given the scope and end product.

And the ps3 was $599 ;)

^maybe, IMO nothing has really given mass effect 2 a run for it's money yet this year.

i honestly don't remeber the last collectors edition of a game i got, unreal tournament 3 maybe? (definitely not worth it, that game was sooo disappointing). This one alone for the model of my dream car (new skyline/gt-r) is enough for me to spend the extra 40 bucks.

Where can you get the CE in Canada? Ebgames is garbage I hate buying anything from them...

sorry bud, i hate them with a passion too, but they are the only ones i could find that had it. One location in my town was sold out of them, the other wasn't, so be quick!

...and continue with how it was all worth it. ;)

    • No Steam release. It's gonna fail on PC. Even an Epic Online engineer said that people go there for the free stuff and then immediately go back to Steam.
    • Nice. Admittedly, his other games never interested me, but this seems pretty cool.
    • It's time to say goodbye to Edge and switch back to Firefox. There's no way to disable the ugly rounded corners that appear everywhere. Not even on the page frame. No one uses screens with rounded corners, you idiots.
    • Being on Github makes it more trustable since I can see the code at any point.
    • Gen Atlas is the next game from Shadow of the Colossus creator, this time with giant robots by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The mind behind widely well-received games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, showed up at Summer Game Fest today, and that was to reveal his latest project. Being developed by genDESIGN, Gen Atlas is incoming with what looks to be plenty of mech and robot action. Watch the reveal trailer, which makes not much sense, above. The game will have players waking up on an abandoned planet where deserted facilities and grand designs from the original creators remain. Soon, they will stumble upon a colossal robot, from which players gain access to the power to change the world. "Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more," adds the studio. The gameplay snippets seen in the trailer show the player character climbing giant robots (as expected from the creator), while also controlling these titans somehow as well. This is a fully single-player open-world adventure. “The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” says Fumito Ueda, CEO and creative director of genDESIGN. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.” Before gaining the name Gen Atlas, Ueda first announced this project back in 2024 with the codename Project Robot. Interestingly, this will be a project being funded and published by Epic Games, which should mean that a Steam release is out of the question. Gen Atlas will be releasing on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced just yet.
