Most likely saying the dev time was a good thing given the scope and end product.

And the ps3 was $599 ;)

There's a certain irony in there somewhere. :p

Sure, if you like big black shiny paper weights? :p You still need to buy at least 1 game ;)

But if you wanna be real picky, it cost $999 and $799 in some parts of the world :p So I was being generous you see

Ok, I did something rather foolish and requested my current pre-order for GT5 be upgraded to the Collectors Edition (it's only a measly AUD$10 more) even though I really should be cancelling the order outright (I decided to just pay for it with my savings, it's a worthy cause!) should know next week if my request is approved, worse case scenario I end up with just a standard copy of GT5 and save $10 bucks :p

I dunno what is with all the hate for EB Games though? I think they are great! love their customer service. The only bone I have to pick with them is you need a driver's license to trade in games (the sales rep claims it's because of new Gov regulations but I dunno if true or bull? cause nowhere else asks for id to trade in a game) and the fact they won't let you pay a pre-order in full...I really don't get that? everyone else lets you do it.

IIRC the PS3 was $999 in Australia.

It sure was! and it was over $1k across the pond in New Zealand for a time too, crazy times.

GT5 release date confirmed for Australia

Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has today confirmed that Gran Turismo® 5 will go on sale in stores across Australia from Thursday, 25th November 2010.

The date is now set, just gotta wait now...

Can someone tell me if the official GT5 wheel is any good? I don't want to spend the money on a G25 or G27, but I want a half decent wheel.

Meant to be very good and also allows ingame adjustments to various settings via a wheel on the wheel.

You can't see **** with all that snow!

And something tells me reviewers will take off points because of the semi-long loadings.

as they should, every reviewer should knock a point of of mod nation racers because of all tech problems the game is having. It's part of the experience, if tech problems are ruining it it has to factor in the reviews/scores they give games. How no one talked about the tech problems other then a very very thin few people for CoD is beyond me.

We don't know the conditions of that game load, the game has an optional install size so judging from other videos right now might not be too accurate.

As Richard Hammond said, the camera exposure is all wrong for recording the white off a TV screen.

And the loading times could be worst, I would be interested in hearing the load times between the different install sizes, is the 25-30 second load with the full 10gb install or the default few hundred megabytes.

Is the best place to pre-order the regular version of the game Play.com ? There are two free DLC cars if you pre-order with them.. can't see any such incentives with the other main retailers.

Cheers.

    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
