PS3 Uncrackable, Hacker Gives Up

Recommended Posts

He also quit the jailbreaking scene. I don't think its him giving up, i think its more him being annoyed with punk kids messaging him every day going "omfgz. i needz teh h4x man. hurry up!!11!1one"

This x100. I'm sure that he has the skills but with all the pressure he gets from the haxorz community it was inevitable that this would happen.

He's given up on everything, not just the PS3, but still I feel sorry for all the PS3 owners still sitting on pre-OS removal FW because this guy was going to put out CFW "in a month" laugh.gif

It was obvious he was talking out his egotistic arse.

Out of everyone who has tried to hack the PS3 he made the most progress, credit where credit is due he's one smart guy.

However I guess the video he released showing a PS3 with 3.21 and the other OS option is fake, or he really just doesn't want to release his findings.

Fair play to the Sony engineers. I would have expected the Xbox to be harder to crack seen that Microsoft are a software company and Sony focus mainly on hardware.

Well that's exactly the point - Microsoft doesn't do hardware. Sony does hardware and designed it to be next to impossible to crack.

A win for Sony but a loss to homebrew

"homebrew" is such a poor excuse for allowing/encouraging hacking or cracking. such a tiny minority actually use "homebrew" in a non-illegal way

A win for Sony but a loss to homebrew

Well Linux was a perfectly viable option for other uses not built into the PS3 firmware, then he tries to hack in and the only way to stop it possibly becoming widespread was to disable Linux as a whole, I would partly blame this guy for taking away other options.

Alot of envy in this thread.......

Of?

In the 2nd source it lists some of his achievements

  • First hacker to jailbreak / unlock iPhone 2G
  • Discovered AT + stkprof command vulnerability which was later used in Yellowsn0w by Dev team to unlock iPhone 3G firmware 2.2
  • First one to discover iPhone 3G bootloader 5.8 exploits that allows baseband downgrading
  • First public software exploit for jailbreaking the iPhone 3GS (with Purplera1n and Purplesn0w)
  • First Untethered Jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 3GS firmware 3.1 .2 (with Blackra1n and Blacksn0w)

Quite a list really.

blackra1n was not untethered.

Fair play to the Sony engineers. I would have expected the Xbox to be harder to crack seen that Microsoft are a software company and Sony focus mainly on hardware.

Sony not only makes hardware, but also develops and publishes software (SCE), owns a large chunk of the major Hollywood studios and is large in the music industry (distribution, studio's, labels)...plus they have pioneered many media and data link formats. So imo piracy is probably a top priority for them.

mind you I chipped my PS1 and PS2 back in the day and I played them a heck of a lot more than my PS3 :shifty:

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
