2010/2011 English Premier League

The Premier League is an English professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the English football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with The Football League. The Premier League is a corporation in which the 20 member clubs act as shareholders. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 38 matches each, totalling 380 matches in the season. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played during weekday evenings. It is sponsored by Barclays Bank and therefore officially known as the Barclays Premier League.

The competition formed as the FA Premier League on 20 February 1992 following the decision of clubs in the Football League First Division to break away from The Football League, which was originally founded in 1888, and take advantage of a lucrative television rights deal. The Premier League has since become the world's most watched association football league.[1] It is the world's most lucrative football league, with combined club revenues of £1.93 billion ($3.15bn) in 2007–08.[2] It is also ranked first in the UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the last five years, ahead of Spain's La Liga and Italy's Serie A.[3]

Last year Champs where Chelsea (afer man u choked ;) )! Use the pole to make your choice for this season as well for the scorers! Also letting us know who you chose wouldn't hurt either.

Last year Champs where Chelsea (afer man u choked ;) )!

ManU choked?!We were ahead for like 80% of the time, only lost it to Arsenal because of the weather and to United for a few fixtures.

As for the polls,I'll reserve my judgment until the transfer window comes to an end.

they had an 8 point lead at one point and lost it. i call that choking :p

Dafoe and pole

My predictions now so I can laugh at how wrong I was at the end of the season:

Realistically I think Chelsea will win the title this year. Man City will probably finish in the top 3 and will perform extremely well. Man United's chances depend on Wayne Rooney, and although I think they will struggle you can never really write them off. Arsenal will play better than last year and will easily finish in the top 4. Tottenham will struggle to come in the top 4 this season. Liverpool will come around 5th/6th/7th if the club is not sold before the end of the transfer window.

1st: Chelsea

2nd: Man Utd

3rd: Man City

4th: Arsenal

5th: Liverpool

6th: Spurs

Blackpool, Wigan and Wolves for relegation.

I'm mystic meg ;)

arsenal is my pic to take the EPL, they stay healthy, the EPL is fraacked. they showed their brilliance last year, just got riddled with injuries.

i picked west brom, wigan and wolverhampton to get relegated (figured i would say consistent and goes the the "W" teams...)

scoring title? torres of course ;)

I don't quite remember them having an 8 point lead with both teams having the same amount of games.Could you provide a source or something?

As things stand I can see us and Manchester United challenging for the title,Manchester City finishing 3rd and the 4th place going to either Arsenal or Tottenham.Liverpool are a riddle,I can see them fighting for 4th but if things don't go as planed they might end up lower than Everton.

that's going to be hard to find. me and my dad were jsut talking about it a couple of days ago (he's a die hard man u fan) from what we remember it was around december/january they had the lead. then man u when a terrible loosing/draw'ing every game streak for almost a month which enabled chelsea to catch up and surpass them.

That's exactly what happened but it was the other way around :p

You missed Bolton off the poll!

I went for Utd for winners + Rooney as top-scorer, though that's more becuase that's who I support.. If I had to put money on it I wouldn't i'm that uncertain how things will go this season, a lot of contenders.

For relegation: Blackpool (unfortunately, just how things go - prove me wrong! If they do i reckon second season sydrome will get them), Wigan/Bolton and West Brom

Fulham have reached an agreement with Mark Hughes for him to become their new manager, BBC Sport understands.

The Craven Cottage club said on Thursday that they expect to name their new boss within the next 48 hours.

Former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Hughes, 46, has been out of work since being sacked as Manchester City manager in December 2009.

The Welshman will replace Roy Hodgson, who left Fulham earlier this month to take charge at Liverpool.

Fulham had wanted to recruit Ajax coach Martin Jol but were forced to look elsewhere when the Dutch club refused to let the former Tottenham manager leave.

Liverpool could be bought by a Chinese business tycoon within days, according to a source close to the deal.

Kenny Huang, head of Hong Kong-based investment company QSL Sports Ltd, wants to take full control of the Reds, who have been up for sale since April.

"A deal has to be done before the transfer window closes [on 31 August]," a source close to Huang told BBC Sport.

"Huang has made a firm proposal. The club's board has to sanction the sale and it could be sewn up in days."

Huang has been talking for several weeks to representatives of the Royal Bank of Scotland, with the aim of taking full control of the Premier League club.

RBS is Liverpool's main creditor, owed about ?237m by American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

While RBS has told the BBC it is not negotiating directly with Huang, it is understood he is mounting a credible bid.

"Kenny is the only serious bidder interested in the club and he's optimistic," added the source.

Huang is offering to clear Liverpool's debt to RBS, and give new manager Roy Hodgson funds to do business in the transfer window.

However, he wants the deal to be completed within two weeks to allow Hodgson time to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline at the end of August. Any later and the deal is off.

The tycoon also plans to build the club a new stadium as soon as possible.

Huang is a well-known figure in the Chinese sporting industry and particularly influential in basketball and baseball.

His QSL Sports Ltd company is a partner of America's Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team and he is also involved with the New York Yankees baseball outfit.

In 1988, he became the first Chinese college graduate from mainland China to work at the New York Stock Exchange.

Huang was reported to have turned down the chance to buy Liverpool in 2008 because he felt a valuation of ?650m was too high. BBC Sport understands he now values the club at about ?350m.

Hicks and Gillett bought the Reds in February 2007 in a deal that valued the club at ?218.9m - ?44.8m of which were club debts.

But the American duo have endured a difficult time at Anfield, with supporters regularly voicing their dissatisfaction at the level of debt taken on by the club after their buyout.

    • Do you live in the U.K? Do any of the people here that are against the UK leaving the E.U, live in the U.K? If not then why are you bothered? If you do live here then it is a different thing . Brexit was a good idea, should have done it years before, it was done badly, but the idea was good. You are saying the same thing as remainers do, oh we did what Putin wanted, we listened to the lies and Farage. I hate Farage and never believed most of what he said, certainly did not believe the £350m a week for the NHS. But we did pay a lot of money to the E.U and yes some of it came back, but what is the point of paying it out for only some of it to come back? Get out of the E.U, no money to them and in theory we can use the money to do things in the country. I said in theory, but our governments are a total and complete waste of space. No matter what colour rosette they wear. You and others say it was a mistake and yet the two main parties in the U.K are not looking at rejoining the EU, I wonder why that is? I was not tricked by anyone. Makes no odds now, we are out and have been for 10 years, what we need is a decent government to run the country. All they do is shout at each other like a load of kids and seems to do nothing and make this country more into a police and nanny state. Getting more like China all the time.

    • Yeah... The root of my comment, ostensibly, is how to spin the story via the actual technical merits of the solution! * Decentralized (aka federated) solution with built-in encrypted ephemeral message transport, * Transport via Relays (intermediary servers) with no message archival, * Second configurable pathway are actual email servers (if DNS records are programmed accordingly) via IMAP protocols carriage, * "Chat-over-Email" is the design pattern adopted; it can either leverage full-blown Email Server (must use the INBOX folder) to exchange all received messages/edits/reactions (so be weary of notifications overloads) [best practice is creating a separate email acct used explicitly for federated chat purposes!] or leverage its built-in Relay Server mechanism which actually resides on-device (by default but can be configured otherwise), * By virtue of be a decentralized/federated model, all other intermediary servers who may pass-along messages (while the recipient's final relay/device is inaccessible) cannot snoop on the messages due to the encrypted nature of contents. The intermediaries may, however, analyze the metadata due to the simple fact that routing mechanisms require hints for relay destinations. Unfortunately, whomever is posting about DeltaChat across socials are misleading with "zero metadata" claims -- especially when the Relays (according to their own technical documents) mandate the addition of chat-version metadata and other decorations in order to actually transport any message. -- Based on this summary, I'd prefer if they'd better dual-path message transport (email server add-in, federated relay engine) rather than patch-on email protocols to existing federated social media frameworks. They're frankensteining something rather than extending widely-deployed technology stacks.
    • Decentralized search result anonymization...
    • Russia invaded Crimea, so not sure what you are getting at. Are you saying that the E.U is like what the USSR was? What is wrong with wanting control over your own country? i bet Trump would not stand by and allow Canada to control the U.S.
