finished it, didn't follow the story even slightly but that may have been because i was high for a majority of it. still the gameplay itself kept me going untill the end.

so yea, going off gameplay alone it's a fun game. definitely not a purchase unless it's under ?20 though!

Sethos: Fine ignore me.

Much like GTA I haven't played the original Mafia in quite some time so like anyone I have a vague memory of the games. I may well be selling them short, but I haven't played them for a good 10 years!

I guess the point I was trying to make, though I can't find my post, is the difference between Mafia and GTA is that GTA advanced the series. It added new features, mission types and so on. Mafia 2 feels like a game which is almost archaic in it's structure from how I remember Mafia I. They feel very similar. I just expected a bigger leap.

GTA4 went backwards in some ways, like removing planes. San Andreas was better IMO.

I'm curious if people explored the world and, if they did, when would be the best time in the game to do it. I guess I'll go back in for the centerfolds and wanted posters. I didn't realize you needed to get them until I accidentally ran into a Playboy magazine towards the end and got the button prompt to pick it up. I ended up with 3 centerfolds and no posters.

so far the game clocked me at 4 minutes looking at nudie pics

God I dont even know if I can finish jimmy's vendetta. It was fine until I got to this ridiculously poorly designed mission where you have to shoot up this bar. The bar is filled with enemies, nd there are cops chilling out EVERYWHERE near the bar. I can kill all the enemies, even without getting the cops chasing me, and I start shooting up the bar, and it just never seems to end. I dont know exactly what to destroy. I destroy some windows and dishes and ****, and its like GOOD START DESTROY SOME MORE, then no matter what some of the cops patrolling around inevitably see me and start streaming into the bar, making it impossible for me to finish the damn objective.

Have you tried throwing molotovs/grenades?

Just finally managed to

kill Derek in Chapter 14.

The hardest and most annoying part of the game by miles!

..and if you rob ANY shops to get the rest of the money, you'll have to do it all over again or face the reloading glitch when you go to hand it over to Bruno

Wow, good thing I didn't know until afterwards that you could rob shops! :p I earned the rest of the money by crushing cars at the junkyard. Only needed to crush four. Just for fun, one of them was a cop car. :p

almost done with it, and yes, there are a couple annoying difficulty spikes along the way that really speak of poor testing and playing the game solely on a dev machine with cheats turned on...these people really don't give a damn about their paying customers, do they? but overall this is still an 8/10 for me, i love the atmosphere and the graphics are pretty good for the current generation. especially the destructible columns and stuff, and the overall look of the city, which can be breathtaking at times.

Wow took me so long to finish mission 14 and now I stopped after that (mission 15?). The checkpoint system really ****ed me off in the Derek part. The amount I keep dying in mission 4 got me so frustrated that I just turned the game off a few minutes into the planetarium.

The checkpoint system didn't bother me too much, I played on medium and died about 6 times the entire game. Overall, I give it about a 7 out of 10. If there were less cutscenes and more chapters with actual shooting, I would give it a higher score.

Finally finished the game. I have to agree, the ending leaves a lot to be desired, especially since they built up the story so much.

I must say, I was really impressed how they used the Griffith Park Observatory in Hollywood as inspiration for the planetarium. This struck me quite well since I recently visited the Hollywood area not too long ago.

Here are some pictures I took, during that trip. These may look familiar to those of you that have completed the game

The exterior of the observatory:

    • Sorry to be that guy but, Given Trump won again even after a failed first term it would appear attacking the other side is how to gain Government in America. Voters when it came down to it didn't give a s**t about those Democratic achievements and voted for Trump over an intelligent, qualified mixed race woman. We need to face up to this uncomfortable reality. There are more Americacan voters who support racism and christian bigotry along with defending and supporting pedophilia, adjudicated rapists, multiple time convicted felons etc than those who don't. Btw, that is how the world sees America now. Not that Trump voters care as they attempt to cocoon themselves in a white supremacy bubble.
    • That's not clickbait. Clickbait is headlines like, "You'll never guess what this person looks like now" for example. For goodness sake, take a look around the internet if you think this is clickbait. How do sites survive if people don't click through to articles? How many people in all honesty would have clicked this if it had your suggested headline? You and those upvoting your post won't be happy until the web is a couple of hundred websites all behind a paywall.
