Final Fantasy XIV Open Beta!

Downloaded the client. But it needs some updates, I'm update the client with 50 - 65kb/s.. and then it jumps back to 0,0kb/s...

But hey, when I try to update, my internet is slower then ever.

It's not you. It's the P2P Client. I'm pulling something else in at 521.5 kb/s (and I'm not topped out yet), and I'm getting NOTHING for downloads.

At 55% it stopped downloading, and then it said I have to re-start the launcher / updater. But found a different way to download the patches. Need to place them into the correct folder and then it should install it. Atleast, I hope, still downloading it (4GB).

My laptop can hardly run this game on lowest settings. My desktop runs it with slight lag (both can handle ME2 at highest settings to!). I hope they address this soon, no excuse for this.

It's SE. It won't be fixed. They absolutely cannot program a decent running PC game for ****.

I perhaps found a better way to download the patches with a better speed. Make sure you have launched the launcher first, let it update for 30 secs, then close it.

Then

  • Go to "My Documents"
  • Open the folder named: "My Games"
  • Open the folder named: "FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version"
  • Open the folder named: "downloads"
  • Open the folder named: "ffxiv-beta"
  • Open the folder named: "d96437e6"
  • Then you should find 2 folders, metainfo and patch, in the meta info there should be some torrents, you can use those to download them with an torrent-program. Don't forget to save the .patch files in patch folder in d96437e6
  • When you're done, start the updater and it should take a couple of minutes and it should download then.

They download a .patch file, so I assume those are the patches, not 100% sure, but it looks like it. Still downloading 2 patches ( 538mb and 1,2GB ). But alot faster then the 'update'

Edit #1 - I get almost 1MB/s with the 538mb, but the 1.23GB is kinda slow, 100-200kb/s, but not sure if that is because I download 2 files.

Edit #2 - Sorry for the 'bad' English, it's not my native language. :)

Confirmed!..

I'm checking out this right now.. It pulled in EVERYTHING... I don't know if my patcher will break because of this .. but it sure as hell went a heckuva lot faster and it's NOW downloading!

Edit: I'm up from 2.0 kb/s to 69.9 to 120 kb/s.

Still "slow" by my bandwidth means, but.. its faster than it was!

Well the speeds changes a lot here, between the 100 - 200, with some peaks to 300kb/s.. but still it's a lot faster then 25kb/s :p.

Got a little problem when I try to open the boot it keeps yelling "11023 Unable to access server for version check.4:20455,10009,19900,12029"

I have the client now but can't start the game. I get into the Title Screen and press Start Game

Then I get this after a while:

13001 Error connecting to the lobby server:

Error Code 0

Status 0

TIMEOUT

So i guess the server is overloaded?

EDIT: Okay I get a new error now, after the Title Screen the game loads a moment and then the client simply crashes.....

EDIT 2: Now I get:

13001 Error connecting to the lobby server:

Error Code 1015

Status 0

oh my....

Hey Guys,

I've been in the closed beta so mines already up to date etc. Just a word of warning, Microsoft Security Essentials breaks the Square Updater app thingy. Kill it before running the updater.

Like I need more proof they can't code a PC game properly to save their lives. Heh.

Well, considering I've tested MSE, NOD32, AVG, Avast, Kaspersky and Norton with FFXIV and MSE is the only one that interferes... I'd say this is Microsofts bad.

But I do agree, Square have some awful codebases.

Had it running, but didn't got any problems.. The only problem I have at the moment is

When I start the game, and I press 'start', it loads then I see a new screen BAM error and it's back to desktop.

No I'm getting

    • lots of people us facebook for stuff, threads though no
    • Can you read? I've said I'm willing to pay more for a notchless (no notch) 3:2 screen.
    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • make your own notch - it's not that hard
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers.
