Exactly, and i'm from the UK. So what if people are on minimum wage. At the end of the day if you're spending the best part of ?15-?20 on some sort of take out food what's a pound or two here and there to make someones crappy job a little more bearable. Even more so if the joint i've ordered from doesn't charge for delivery, if i'm asking someone to bring my food to my house because i can't be bothered to go down there and pick it up myself then yeh, of course i'd tip, they're providing me a service.

So i presume you tip when you go into the pizza place to collect delivery? I mean, whats a pound or two here and their to make the servers crappy job a little more bearable?

The delivery instead of picking up doesnt make much sense either. If you cant be bothered to go down and collect your pizza, then you wouldnt of ordered your pizza and they would not of got the business. Places offer deliveries not for your convince but to get more business.

I dont tip someone when all they did was deliver something, why should i tip him and not the chef? or the person who took my order? ontop of that, why should i tip someone before ive even eaten the food to see if its any good. It is not my responsibility to pay someones wages, if you need to charge for deliverys then charge for deliveries, i highly dislike it when someone takes advantage of peoples good nature.

I voted no, mostly because I only usually get things delivered at a party, and I'm rarely the person who goes to the door

If it is an easy amount to tip (something costs ?4 & I have ?5 I'd tell them to keep it) but if it's awkward I usually wait to get the change back instead of saying "keep 50p make it a fiver change"

I tip every type of delivery person. Almost all places that do delivery (especially non-franchise places) don't expense delivery costs. So, you tip your delivery guy/girl for two reasons. To subsidize their cost of bringing you the food, and for the convenience of not having to go get the food yourself. If you don't tip, you're just a cheap prick.

Tho only time you don't tip is if the business you're buying from has a strict no-tip policy. But those are few and far between.

Why all of a sudden is it the consumers responsibility to pay the workers? the company is the "cheap prick" not the consumer for not wanting to pay more for their already expensive meal just be glad people are still doing business with you

However none of that affects me as i don't tip because the product costs significantly more when you get it delivered here and they usually take a while to deliver and i always do a better job when i pick it my self (obviously) :)

You're always charged for the delivery whether it's advertised or not because the staff costs are built into the price you pay - that's why a simple pizza costs ?15-?20. Also, why do you think the poor delivery guy deserves a tip but the guy who cooked your pizza doesn't? I mean you could have cooked your own food but you couldn't be bothered and he did it for you. The fact is that tipping is a stupid thing to do and only encourages cheap employers.

I always tip when I order Pizza or any other food for delivery. Same when at the pub, each time I go to the bar I tip and usually on the last round ask the bar person if he or she would like a drink, after all they have been serving me all night/day so why not give a little back.

Either you live in a high living cost area, or you need to find somewhere else to buy pizza. A standard pizza is around ?4.50.

I use to deliver pizzas.

Tips are what makes or breaks the job for many delivery drivers.

Many pizza places pay MINIMUM wage. We'd get like $0.50 per delivery to partially cover gas.

But what about wear and tear on the car? I put 90,000 miles on my car delivering, and had to pay for a lot of fixes and stuff. I had to pay for the alignments, balance, new brakes, new tires, etc.

If we didn't get tips, many drivers would be in the RED by the end of the year. Why should I have to spend my own money so fat people can eat their greasy pizzas?

I delivered while going to college, and ended up going into debt pretty bad. Many customers pulled the whole "WELL, YOU GET PAID, SO WHY SHOULD I TIP?" line on me. **** them.

I tip 15-25% now anywhere I go. I rarely order pizza, but they get 20% tip.

It depends on how drunk I am

No, just kidding. In fairness, if they are speedy with their delivery then I always tell them to keep the change (depending on how much change there is. I don't let them keep ?15 from the ?40 I handed them) or if it's a small business then sure.

I didn't vote, the poll is too limited.

The guy cooking the pizza is getting paid to cook a bunch of pizzas. He's not using gas, wearing out his car, dealing with traffic, or going against the elements to find someone's house at night. The delivery driver has to put up with that crap and deserves compensation.

And the pizzas that cost $15-$20 STILL cost $15-$20 to someone that just walks inside the pizza place to buy a pizza. No delivery charge is added to the price of the pizza (not at any pizza place I've seen).

People that don't tip just make it harder on others, just so they can save their own selfish asses a few bucks. I had to get out of delivery. Too many pricks refusing to tip.

My Grandfather once told me, always tip your barman and your barber well. They're the last people you want giving you shoddy service.

I've added pizza delivery guy to that list. I usually tip around 25%. That's a lousy job, and if I'm to lazy to go get it myself, I think it's worth it. A lot of them (especially in the city), get robbed and beaten by people calling in fake orders. I'm amazed most delivery places haven't switched to credit only orders to keep it from happening.

No we don't. That's why there's a $1.50 delivery charge...

No, that might be to cover the gas. Might be. It could be the shop taking some money for you being lazy. It's definitely not going to the delivery guy's wage.

If you live in the U.S, you tip.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
