  1. 1. Do you tip for pizza delivery?

I generally tip $4-$5 for everything - pizza deliveries (which is very rare since I don't live in a place where I can do this), restaurants, etc, even if the total cost to me before hand was only $12 or whatever.

I do this because I worked in a resort for 5 years earning minimum wage dealing with customer complaints/requests/janitorial duties. I even provided spa services regularly. Tips were generally expected and I would say 97%+ of the people I met never tipped anything. Not even a dollar or two. Guests were paying (sometimes tens of) thousands to stay there and do whatever, but would suddenly become ultra cheap the minute a gratuity came into play. Ultimately, my best year I made just under $14,000 total in salaries/tips. My last year working there, I didn't even make $9,000. I now haven't had a good night sleep in years because of a bad back I developed from that job, and that doctors have been unable to do anything about.

Ultimately, I was really lucky to able to get away from that place as there are very few job opportunity's around here. Working at a job like that gave me a great perspective on the crap people put up with these minimum wage jobs, and even if the service isn't the best, I will still tip as long as they aren't rude.

Yes, it's not my responsibility to pay their wages, but I remember how grateful I was to just get a few dollars of gratuity, so if my measly few dollars can do that for someone else then it makes it worthwhile to me.

The poll should offer not only to select whether you do, but also whether it's common in your region.

Here in Germany it is, albeit they probably could live without (I have no idea, but I'm quite certain they wouldn't starve...).

It's an act of supporting good service and of politeness, whereas I know that in some other countries is seen as offensive (haha at them, who doesn't like "free" money :p Your loss :p (Okay, I don't work for a place where I'd get tipped, but I do PC help and such things and some pay me more than agreed to, does this actually count? I think yes...))

Oh haha... Forgot to reveal: Yes, I tip. About 10% usually, so a 8.95 pizza order get rounded up to 9, 10er get's a Euro coin added, too, so I'm doing this variably and roughly.

I hate tipping to delivering guys.

Take note, I come from Mexico.

I tip to someone who offers a service. Someone who is only delivering pizza isn't something I would say spectacular to tip. A waiter who comes back and forth and most of the times is always standing, then he does deserve a tip.

I don't. Most of the time I pay using my Mastercard when I order online and rarely carry cash, so it's harder to tip.

In any case tipping isn't that customary in Australia. I had a friend who worked as a delivery driver for Dominos and they were generally paid to wait around until they had to deliver pizzas.

Well I remember one time drinking beer with my mates in a sauna I ordered a Pizza that cost ?9 and gave him a 20 bill and told him to keep the change :)

But yes I do tip all the time, I also feel that they are not paid enough on normal salary :( And secondly when you tip you can be sure that next time your pizza comes on time :)

I always tip. It is a duche thing to not tip in the US.

Agreed.... the delivery fee hardly applies towards the cost of 1 Gallon of gas which they could very well eat that up if not half getting to my house not to mention wear and tear on their vehicle. NOW if they drove a company vehicle then I'd think about just how big of a tip I give but I normally stay around 15 percent of the amount or say if I get $30 worth of pizza I factor in it costing me $35 so I tip that $5. I usually pay now online with the CC so I add the tip on the receipt instead of giving cash so their is some sorta record of it for them and me.

Now I tipped once on the site to one pizza place where you can punch it before submitting the full payment so its all ready done and I had a driver say something to my face as he was leaving about how it would be cool if he got a tip. I found that very rude and insulting at the same time to even ask me as he didn't bother looking at the paper but even still it is not his place to confront a customer. I complained to the headquarters and shortly there after got a call from the manager but I didn't hear anything else of it and I don't believe he worked their very long.

Back to the vehicle... if they do drive their own yes of course I know how hard gas is right now to pay for and wear/tear on it. If they are driving a company vehicle then I would likely scale it back some as that would go into the "delivery fee" they tack on which I'm sure would go up anyway.

    • Can you still click his nose in the about box?
    • In that case this product has no value to me. I'd rather use older Creative SB that were better in my opinion or onboard audio chip.
