UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir suffered an undisclosed injury in training and will now be forced to withdraw from his cross-promotional clash against Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champion Daniel Cormier. MMAJunkie.com first confirmed the news late Tuesday night.

Mir, of course, was tapped to become the first active UFC fighter to fight a champion under the Strikeforce banner. The bout was meant to serve as Cormier's final fight in Strikeforce before crossing over into the UFC. Strikeforce officials are currently working on locating a replacement opponent.

I really am speechless at this point. Within the past few weeks, Dan Henderson, Erik Koch, Rampage Jackson, Jose Aldo, and now Frank Mir have all fallen victim to this injury epidemic, slashing and burning a majority of the upcoming autumn fight schedule with them. Every week it's a new disaster, and every time you think we're finally in the clear and there couldn't possibly be any more injuries, someone else bites the dust.

Who knows how Zuffa salvages this one. At the rate guys are dropping like flies, there's apparently a very good chance we'll be back in this same boat next month. Even if this may just be a ridiculous of run of bad luck, it's hard to not be frustrated with such continual disappointment.

Matt Mitrione Turns Down Daniel Cormier Fight, ****es Off Dana White

What the...?

Lots of details are missing but still, from fighting on the undercard to a Main Card like that. Sure, he would lose but still, exposure and Dana's gratitude goes a long way in the UFC.

I liked Travis Browne but I expected him to lose to Bigfoot and he did.

What I didn't expect was him to come out with Cruz's mini shorts and dance around like him. Tearing your hamstring is what you get for doing that.

He wanted to show off his athleticism and paid the price. The secret to beating Bigfoot has always been speed since it's hard to compete against him in size and bulk. He hurt his knee after the first kick. After that, he had no chance at winning that fight. Still, if he hadn't done it, who knows? I don't think Bigfoot would've been able to keep up with him.

Jones, Sonnen Get TUF Assignment, April Fight Date

certainly a weird one, this fight will only go one way

Any legitimacy in the claim that the UFC is advancing the sport just went down the drain. They've veering towards the Entertainment side of things, where the end game is the WWE, at a very fast pace.

There were others that earned it by actually fighting top opponents at 205. This reeks.

How many of the legit contenders are "injured" or are ducking Jones?

None. They know that even in a loss, they're going to make bank. You duck guys on your way to the sweet PPV money, like Rampage ducked Teixeira, and Shogun ducked Teixeira... I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Alexander Gustafsson, albeit not ready to fight Jones yet, would be a legitimate choice instead of Chael because he's the only top-tier LHW in the division that isn't over 30 and hasn't lost to Jones. Instead, he's fighting Shogun on a FOX card. Not bad but still, hard sell for a title shot. It's all a big mess. They still should have given the shot to Machida, seeing how Dana promissed it, despite it being like sending a lamb to slaughter all over again.

Erik Koch vs. Ricardo Lamas agreed for UFC 155

Praise the lord, Koch is finally getting a fight after more than a year on the sidelines.

Aldo will either fight, in order of likeliness, Frankie Edgar, Chan-Sung Jung, or Cub Swanson in his next title defense.

Report: Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira booked for Super Bowl weekend UFC

Brazil's SporTV is reporting that former UFC Light Heavyweight champ Rashad Evans and Brazilian legend Antonio "Little Nog" Rogerio Nogueira have verbally agreed to a bout to be held on February 2, 2013 on Super Bowl weekend. The UFC traditionally runs a big card in Las Vegas that weekend. Presumably it could be UFC 156 but that is assuming that there will not be a numbered UFC event in January following UFC 155 on December 29, 2012.

SporTV is only claiming a verbal agreement for the fight with neither fighter having signed but they say they have multiple reliable sources for the information. It's important to note that this is exactly the kind of fight announcement that often ends up not panning out. It's highly likely that all of SporTV's sources are coming out of one camp.

The UFC often floats match ideas past fighters and their camps and secures verbal agreements from one side before talking to the other. Sometimes they get verbal agreements from both camps and still don't go forward with the fight. Remember no UFC match-up is official until it's announced by the UFC.

No headliner is rumored for this event yet, but if the UFC managed to book an Anderson Silva vs Georges St. Pierre superfight, February, 2013 would be an ideal time to make it happen.

Dana White mentioned to the Dave and Mahoney show on X107.5 that Brock Lesnar will never return to UFC. This follows a recent phone conversation between Lesnar and White.

"He's done," White said in an interview on the "Dave and Mahoney" show on X107.5 in Las Vegas on Tuesday. "He's done. He called me a couple days ago, he's never coming back."

Lesnar is physically unable to compete in UFC again, according to White.

"He just said his body - he can wrestle, but he can't fight," White said. "But, he was contemplating coming back."

Michael Johnson vs. Myles Jury set for UFC 155

This is an odd matchup. Johnson has been improving in leaps and bounds, he's on a 3 fight win streak, and they put him against Myles Jury? Why not put Volkmann against Jury? Jesus. It's not a bad matchup per se, Johnson isn't top tier or anything but still, a 3 fight win streak should bring more important opponents, not TUF washouts, even if they have a 10-0 record.

Dana White says Women's MMA will 'absolutely' be part of the UFC

No doubt about it, he has fallen in love with Ronda Rousey.

    • Thanks Microsoft but no, I find both iterations of Outlook terrible nowadays and switched back to Thunderbird at home.
    • Happens to the best of us, bro. 😛
    • Thanks to some of the other recent Windows improvements, I'm optimistic about this one. My quick wishlist would be: perf like the older menu, merge both menus or at the very least, the older menu should be a flyout, not a simulated click to the old menu, and lastly, a customization window to let users move items from one menu to another, so I could bring Send To back to the main menu, and the OneDrive settings to the older.
    • This Gigabyte AMD RX 9070 XT is very good deal despite the launch of 9070 GRE by Sayan Sen Recently we reviewed AMD's latest 1440p gaming card, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB, for $549. The card is in stock too at that price, though if you want significantly better performance and don't mind spending a bit more, the Gigabyte Gaming model of RX 9070 XT is currently on sale for just $650 (purchase link under the specs table down below). The card employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The technical specifications of the Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G are given in the table below: Specification Value Core Clock Boost Clock: up to 3060 MHz Game Clock: up to 2520 MHz Stream Processors 4096 Memory Clock 20 Gbps Memory Size 16GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Bus 256-bit Card Bus Interface PCI Express 5.0 Maximum Resolution 7680 × 4320 Multi-View Support 4 displays Card Dimensions L=288 mm, W=132 mm, H=56 mm Recommended Power Supply 750W Power Connectors 3 × 8-pin Video Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC 16GB Graphics Card, GV-R9070XTGAMING OC: $649.99 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $740) This Amazon deal is US-specific and not available in other regions unless specified.
