No Flash on the new Macbook Air

Recommended Posts

I would say most Mac users don't know how to install download and install flash.

Based on the number who run applications from mounted dmg files - you're not too far off from that. They do that, not because installing is difficult but because the end user is a moron devoid of being able to apply common sense to find a solution.

I would say most Mac users don't know how to install download and install flash.

I would say most computer users in general. If it weren't for how easy it is to install Flash in Firefox and IE nowadays (and Chrome just comes with Flash), most users would just stare at the file they've downloaded.

I'm wondering if they'll do anything in Safari to streamline the process the same way it's been streamlined in Firefox and IE. My guess is no.

What if either adobe stop making flash for mac altogether or Apple bans flash from all macs like they do with isomething and isomethat. I really miss flash on my ipad, I can't watch 50% of my video and 99% of my porn  .

I don't know which services you use but the two that I frequent have been iPhone compatible for a couple of years already.

Just thought I should point this out.. http://www.adobe.com/licensing/ .. you have to pay for a royalty fee if the system is embedded. Maybe they are trying to skip the fee by getting people to download it themselves. I think they are doing the same thing with the Bluray players because they dont want to pay another company...

The embedded systems license is for devices like phones, Wii, etc. The Web Player license is the one OS makers use and it's royalty-free.

Well oh no, I guess this is what people who dished out a thousand dollars for a glorified netbook really want to do with it, watch YouTube @_@ (you can just imagine that's the only reason they realized Flash wasn't there). The article is weak, it's trying to make a stab at Jobs' ever increasing hate for Flash, when that's probably not the case at all.

I guess the new MacBook Air has very few crashes now?

I all honestly, since I got my new iMac the only plugin that failed so far was tatatataaaaaaaaa... the Adobe Flash plugin! It didn't go as far as crashing Safari entirely, but the [?] box would appear indicating the said plugin unexpectedly quit.

When it comes to resources and stability Microsoft is doing a much better job with Silverlight than Adobe is doing with Flash on Mac OS X.

The only real "issue" (if you can even call it that) that I can see coming from this is that it goes against Apple's "it just works" philosophy. I imagine the idea was to have Flash pre-installed so you can just go to YouTube and watch videos. Now there is an extra step... it doesn't "just work" out of the box like it did before.

But again, total non-issue.

    • Tor Browser 15.0.17 by Razvan Serea Protect your privacy. Defend yourself against network surveillance and traffic analysis. Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody from watching your Internet connection and learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked. The Tor Browser Bundle lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser to protect your anonymity, and is self-contained. • Yes, it was amusing at the time because even then dbrand was well known for stealing the designs of products from other companies. That’s what they do.
