Basic Music Edit Help

I want to combine multiple tracks into one in-between beats with no fading.

I also want to do a little cross-fading separately.

I have limited music software knowledge.

What software would be the easiest and yield the best results for an amateur?

I'd prefer to stay away from trials.

Acid Music Studio 8 is what you want

While I don't generally like cheaper music programs, Acid has always impressed.

You can also try Acid Xpress which is free, but limited to 10 tracks and isn't full featured (although Studio 8 isn't either as it has less features than pro)

I'm trying out AMS8 now, took me a while to get going but I'm happy with what I was able to do in only a few hours. I look forward to working on it more.
