Good job working on the UI and making it look like a 2010-era app rather than an early XP-era app, Yahoo. Oh wait...

Oh my god! Why the heck they insist on keeping that ugly Ui instead of Aero? :x Yahoo! Messenger is my sole messenger app, so it really does bother me.

They ought to make the goddamn ugly skin opt-in!! :pinch:  No native look and feel, not worth an upgrade for me.

Epic Fail... Yahoo go back to when Windows XP was the newest Windows OS release if you can't make a damn release of Yahoo Messenger that fits in with the current release of Windows...

Your comment on the Yahoo! blog is right before mine. :p (Y)

Does anyone know if they've "finally" added tabbed chat? Makes absolutely no sense that in 2010, they're the only ones to "not" have tabbed chat. Even the crappy google talk has tabs! I also agree the UI sucks horribly. As far as the yahoo messenger for Vista that was released a few years ago, there was 1 really big problem with it: It ran like absolute crap. Didn't seem to matter how fast your computer was, the program ran like dog poo.

It's still using 10+ year old Y!Pager code from the late 90's and it's still as exploitable to several vulnerabilities as ever before. In fact, with the addition of Facebook and Twitter account integration, if somebody compromised your account (by grabbing your cookie via a vulnerability, and yes there was a few of these vulns as of late capable of doing this) they could easily compromise your Facebook and Twitter accounts as well. Just as worse enough, if somebody succeeded at stealing your ID and you have the conversation history feature on, the person who stole your account could view all your saved conversations since they're now stored server-side and not client side anymore.

Don't get me started on the Windows Aero window borders around Yahoo's existing skins... they seem to can't do anything right. Well, they did with the Yahoo! Messenger For Vista WPF version however they discontinued that.

Total epic failure. Give up Yahoo.

The WPF version was slow, barely responsive if any animation occurs, and pretty featureless - still pretty though. On the contrary, WLMessenger 2011 manages to sneak in UI animations and still remain snappy.

I personally never really had speed issues with the WPF version, probably because I didn't really notice. :p It's funny too, the only 'real' major update for Y!M11 is Facebook and Twitter integration while WLM 2011 already has this and it does it pretty damn well versus how Yahoo is doing it. They really, really need to rewrite Yahoo! Messenger - in fact, they need to re-write the YMSG protocol used as well.

Some of you might really be surprised how much exploitation goes on in the "Yahoo! Messenger community" including some really critical account compromising vulnerabilities.

    • 10 games join Xbox Free Play Days this weekend by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Another Free Play Days offer has just landed, and this one is a unique one. On top of offering 10 games to jump into for Xbox players, all the titles are from a single publisher: No More Robots. The promotion has games like Little Rocket Lab, Spirittea, Descenders Next, Let's Build a Zoo, and much more. Almost every game in the selection does need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription, so keep this in mind when browsing. Many of the titles are Xbox Play Anywhere titles though, so both Xbox console and PC players can jump in. Here's how the announcement blog post described some of the available titles: There is one game that's available to all Xbox players without the need for any subscriptions, which is Descenders. Here are the announced games and the platforms they are available to play on: Little Rocket Lab (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Spirittea (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Soccer Story (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Descenders Next (Game Preview) (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Let's Build a Zoo (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Hypnospace Outlaw (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Nowhere Prophet (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) Family Man (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) Descenders (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC) To easily find the titles on Xbox consoles, first head to the Store, then in the sidebar, find the Home section. In there, open the Subscriptions tab. The Free Play Days collection will show up in this area. This week's Free Play Days promotions will end on Sunday, June 7, at 11:59 pm PT.
