inferniac
9/10 I'm too tired to elaborate (I went to the midnight screening), but I'm curious what other people think.
De.Bug
I've heard it's pretty good, but I wanna go myself.
4CxbqFxVnstmA Veteran Posted November 19, 2010 Veteran Share Posted November 19, 2010 Yes, I'll definitely see this tomorrow. There is a midnight screening tonight here in California, but I think I'll be too tired to enjoy it! I hear it's good, and I can't wait! First screening at the local cinema tomorrow for me. :)
Brandon
Sick movie. The way they left off was a great place without a huge cliff hanger. I almost teared up with Dobby's death :(
inferniac
Sick movie. The way they left off was a great place without a huge cliff hanger. I almost teared up with Dobby's death :( Wasn't that big of a surprise for me, I've read the books. I'm a little bit worried about the last movie, they've left so much stuff for it ( breaking into the Gringotts and then the final battle - it's a lot). This one would've been a 10/10 if it wasn't for the incredibly stupid scene when they get caught - it was completely different in the book. In the movie there was no reason why they shouldn't have disapparated.
McCordRm
My ONLY issue with the movie is how they drag out the aimless wandering. It's just SO slow. Other than that... the movie is awesome. And yea, they left off at a really good scene.
Fish
Bored and confused. Ask me what happened, and I'd say something happened, but I'm not sure exactly what. Nearly all the cast disappeared early in the movie which just left the three of them wondering around Wales. This made the film dull. Hopefully they'll show it again the week before part 2, because there is no doubt in my mind that they need to be watched together. I'm not a huge Potter fan, and I've never read any of the books. I have, however, enjoyed every film... up to now. 3/10. Only because it looked good and made me chuckle in a few places.
Dinggus
My wife has read the series about 3-4 times so far, and she loves these movies. I think this is the best HP movie I've seen, gotta love the action when it happens.
Odom Member Posted November 19, 2010 Member Share Posted November 19, 2010 Just came back from watching it, wasn't bad, it's pretty different from the other ones. They're all a bit more adult now, no longer the barely teenagers they were. I read all the books, so it wasn't all too surprising. Gonna have to go back and watch it again though, there were 6 girls in the row behind me, looked like 20, behaved like 2, chattering all the time. Two of them read the books and just had to tell the others all the time what was coming. What a bore.... Oh yeah, and I could hear a few cries when Dobbie... inferniac
All of you people need to remember that the first half of the book was also really slow. I myself feel that I can truly rate this movie only when I've seen the 2nd part.

Generally speaking with any 'event' type film, such as a Harry Potter, I try to go see 'em at the IMax. Mostly because the tickets cost 3x more than regular cinema tickets overhere, so if a few people are gonna shell out that kinda money to go see the film together - they actually wanna see the film, and not sit there talking. I almost went to a 7pm showing, but decided against it, because even though I knew there wouldn't be any chatty idiots, there would be a tonne of Potterheads - which is cool, but yeah - I've read the books multiple times, I don't need your 'creative commentary' in my ear, during the film - so I went for an earlier performance. Oh yeah, and I could hear a few cries when Dobbie... There were a few 'oh nos', a few 'they're not gonna' and a couple of honest to god screams. Then obviously during the burial scene, a lot of people crying. Oh, and can I just say - "Please don't release Pt.2 in 3D straight away!". I love the IMax DRM presentations (they blow the film upto twice the original size, to make it fit the screen - looks crystal clear), but I can't stand 3D Performances. Which means, if they 3D it, you HAVE to see it in 3D at the IMax in Birmingham, due to the fact there's only one screen.
KoL Veteran Posted November 21, 2010 Veteran Share Posted November 21, 2010 Watched it last night and loved it. It was very close to the book but of course they cut some stuff. Next one is going to be epic.
Argi
Worst acting in the series. The story could have been cut by an hour and nothing of value would've been lost. The first hour or so was hard to follow for someone who hasn't read the book. Really, splitting it into two parts was unnecessary but I expect the next to be a lot better. Well I think that was the point... if you didn't see the 6th movie or read the book, your SOL. I don't think JK Rowling nor the director of the movie expected anyone to start with the 7th book/movie. In fact, most of the 7th movie is set up in the 6th movie. I told my parents to re-watch the 6th, or the 7th wouldn't make sense.

Julius Caro
I also think they dragged the whole camping thing way long. When you compare the first half to the second half, then sure, the second half (gringotts, room of requirement, snape, hogwarts battle with spiders and giants and whatever, forest, final battle) is more action packed. But when I read the book for the first time, I was like: 7 potters! wedding! ministry! forest! godric's hollow!!!. somehow they made most of it look incredibly dull in the film. I blame it all on character development. What we should have seen was how ron fell out and the reasons behind it. What we saw was harry and ron acting like jerks, and harry and hermione being too close while he was gone. No wonder he was mad.

psreloaded
Except the overstretched camping, the film was good.
