Everyone loving the game still?

We are having a blast.. But man.. I haven't been able to play all weekend because we had to go out of town to see family for Christmas... Will have to do the same thing next weekend as well

Space combat is a blast, and Huttball is fun, (once you finally figure the F out how to pass. It is placed on your actions bars, by the way. :p) so there are many options. The game starts with you feeling powerful, and then that dwindles down into a more realistic estate. Unfortunately, the community is somewhat missing. I've tried talking to people, and getting groups, but most of the time, no one replies, ignores me, or simply says they would rather go solo. I remember playing EQ and early WoW, where people were incredibly friendly, and I had no problem getting groups or making friends; those days are gone. But that is OK, as most of the content is soloable, minus a few HEROIC quests, and I have good guildmates and longtime friends.

I think that also depends on your server. I'm playing on the server Kellian Jarro (EU) and in /1 people have so far been very friendly and always helpfull. Also lots of LFG going around and fun talk. I must say I was very suprised by that and it seems more friendly/helpful then WoW :)

I jumped the SWTOR ship just this month since a lot of my guildmates/friends were talking about it and made me interested in the game. And I have to say it is brilliant! I love how you quest in the game including your class story. It really draws you into the game and makes you feel like you're part of something big. Also like that they decided to implement this in the flashpoints as well! Makes for fun times there.

Also like that you can now send your crew an crafting missions. Haven't got my space ship yet so am eager to see what will change then ^^

Only thing annoying me so far is that Dormund Kaas is supposed to be our capital city but you're only "safe" when you're in the cantina. That's f-ing annoying when the AH/Skill trainers/vendors are on the total different side of the city....

Having an awesome time playing. I quit WoW just before Wrath came out, so I've been waiting for this for a long time. One of my favortie properties in an MMO developed by one of my favorite studios and it really is holding up to my expectations.

I'm playing an Imperial Agent (Sniper specialization) and I'm up to level 14 now. I love how the class quests feel so personal and really tell a great story within the overarching world story. The world is also so amazing. I could've probably made it to level 20 by now, but just walking around and gawking at everything is slowing me down, but it's also very enjoyable.

I was a little worried about how they were going to mix the ranged/melee together, but so far it's working well. I get some nice abilities to get some distance and your companion can help as a mini-tank (in some cases) so it works out very well.

The people on my server (Keller's Void) and in my guild (Not Safe for Wookiees) have all been very nice and helpful. Occasionally we'll get the jokester asking how to get to Orgrimmar and of course every other person is taking an arrow to the knee, but overall it's good.

If you're Imperial on Keller's Void - look me up - Texa.

For anyone on the fence, if you like MMOs and Star Wars, this is your game without a doubt.

I don't like the server queues. Last night, my game crashed on Taris because of whatever crappy memory leak they have (see official forums for massive thread on this) and I got thrown back into a 500+ queue. Give me a break Bioware, what is going to happen when the game launches tomorrow?? It's going to be pandemonium.

For the most part I do love this game when I can play, but they really should have fixed a lot of the game engine bugs before releasing the game. There are a crap ton of small bugs that I see everywhere (ie: shadows are bugged, Taris the whole zone is bugged, missions going to "pending" are getting stuck for people making you unable to quest at all, etc etc etc).

Now I realize this is just the launch so I will give it time but I mean ... how long has this game been in development jeez.

Took me three hours to get in to a game the other night

First time was just over an hour when the server kicked up an error 9000 (lots happening on the forum about this) so I then had to join the queue again which took almost 2 hours before I could get in

Its driving the game from being a casual and fun game to being a hardcore game just go get past the queues :(

It isn't like they aren't working on it. Also, I have noticed quite a few bugs, scavenging materials not working, or not being there. Tooltips won't get off the screen. But nothing gamebreaking. At the moment, I am level 27, and none of the small bugs I have come across have stopped me in any way from playing the game.

as long as its unused i dont see why it shouldnt , would like to throw my hat into the ring if you do give it away.

Wish I would have seen this sooner. I ended up giving it to a RL friend who wanted to try it over the weekend. He hasn't been on but once, so it was wasted I feel. :(

Sorry.

Will probably try this game next year. Gonna wait betwen 3 to 5 months for Bioware to patch the client bugs and improve the servers.

I'm done with wow anyway. Cataclysm is by far the worst xpac. The fact Blizzard wants to remake the game system again in Mist of Pokemon: Wrath of the pandas will be the nail in the coffin for me. I would resume Cataclysm by one word. Unbalanced. I could also use broken mechanics or bugged boss fights. They don't have a any clue what they are doing right now. Is ret a dps spec or an utility spec ? Cause as a utility hybrid spec it certainly lost most of its usefulness it had before (when warriors heal more than ret in pvp ...). As a dps spec it was not an option until the last patch. Hunter class is broken beyond words. Blizzard makes change to the class every patch. PVP has not be so much unbalanced for a while.

Anyway hope SWTOR will be good.

I realize they are working on the issues, just a lot of these bugs were around in the beta and they were never fixed for one reason or another, so I just don't understand how they made it to the launch client.

I will hold out for a few months but if they are not fixed well I will just cancel and resub if they do fix them.

Ah, I could see the frustration if some of them were obvious in the beta and weren't fixed by now. But, until I find one that personally breaks the game for me, I am OK with it. I am just dreading the queue times tomorrow.

:D

I watched

and it brought back such a strong nostalgia for the old WoW pvp days that i'm fairly sure i'm going to pick this game up once the new year roles around. I've never seen the star wars movies, nor read the books, so i'm worried that the end game bosses and raids won't be as epic or imaginative as ones available in WoW. The Star Wars universe seems pretty set and does not have much wiggle room, where as blizzard can create unique encounters like Yogg-saron due to having a fairly open universe. From what i've seen George Lucas keeps quite a strong grip on the lore. Can anyone quell this fear?

thats why i cancelled my pre-order after doing the beta runs. The bugs that were in the beta made it to retail. I was at a buddies and the issues he was having i had in the beta. Gonna wait a yr for either some major patches or the game goes f2p. Im thinking it will be f2p in a yr tops. Mark my words.

I highly, highly doubt it.

Well I kind of figured this would happen. Almost all servers that were FULL in early access are now FULL at 10:00am EST ... I can just imaging what queues will be like during prime-time.

This is going to be a disaster. :(

I was just coming in here to ask those of you who have the game...how are the servers today?...but I guess that answers my question. This is why I always stay away from MMOs in their first week (at least).

I'm giving it a wait too for a couple of reasons:

- After suffering through Ultima Online and Everquest launches, I never jump in to a new MMO on launch day/week/month.

- The game just isn't that different from every other grind-and-level MMO around.

- It will be F2P before summer.

I highly, highly doubt it.

Silly you then.

    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
