I played the betas, I've supported the company just as much as you have by paying the same amount of money? I waited 4 days for precisely that reason. I preordered, in the preoreder it says "Early game access".

As that is part of the preorder deal I should get the same early access regardless of when I preordered. Just because I didn't blindly jump into the purchase it doesn't mean I should suffer.

Wait, what? You were in the beta, but you didn't preorder till now because it would have been a "blind" purchase? You're having a laugh, yeah?

I only played the last 2 betas- through the first i was undecided, and I only decided till about 3 days ago that I wanted the game, Its not out yet- so it counts as a preorder does it not.

And no I'm not happy but I guess I'll just have to wait

No worries, I can FUS RO DAH my time away

The last two betas were the closest to release, and therefore the most indicative of what the final product is going to be like. I didn't say it didn't count as a preorder, but it certainly cost you your spot in line for early play. I preordered the day preorders opened up and I still haven't gotten in, either, while my friends are playing. We'll get in whenever Bioware dictates that we are welcome to log in. Worst-case scenario is the 20th.

Really your pre-order was july 21st? Damn I thought that whole day got in.

THANK YOU YESSSSS

been tired of walmarts runaround regarding the CE's, Amazon got a bunch of CE's for order on their site now, so saved by Amazon's Cancel's.

releace date delivery of the 16th, called and confirmed over phone. so got off phone and called walmart, attempted to cancle.

So i never had a chance to play the beta, so i'm curious what people's impressions of the game so far are. Is the combat exactly like WoW? I'm interested in playing this, but once i hit late game in WoW i felt the combat to be so repetitive. You learned a rotation, and stuck to it and reacted to unknowns now and then.

Some may consider it insulting, but it's a WoW version of Mass Effect, It's the same as wow to an extent, the gameplay is WoW like same with every MMO pretty much, but the quests are detailed dialog/ interaction wise. With your actions dictating some of the dialog.

If you don't like WoW's repedativeness, that unfortunately is all MMO's in general

You can find tons of gameplay video and live streams online

I have no idea when I put in my pre-order but it was a few months after pre-orders opened up. And apprantly I was able to start playing on the 13th. Downloading as we speak, I'll use this as a trial. I cancelled my pre-order due to money restraints, guess this time will help me make up my mind.

Still have my beta install, can I just update that and play or do I need to uninstall and reinstall?

Different classes do have a number of fun abilities though I imagine towards end game you get into a rotation. But at least on my BH through lvl 13 I have 7-8 attacks I just use randomly.

Anyone else go through the painful process of saving your names? I wish I could just create instead of having to go through the intro lol.

Actually, I'd say that's a pretty apt description, though I'd liken it to a mix of WoW & ME2 rather than ME1. :p

It's effectively very much like one of Bioware's regular RPG games, but with lots of other people playing it with you. Hell, it even uses exactly the same dialog engine!

The biggest advantage over WoW is that the story telling is FAR superior, and of course, no pandas. :p

meh, id easially argue that the story is better in WTOR then WoW. i just couldnt get drawn in with just a scroll on the screen, now SWTOR with the voice dialog and options. imo is better

I had not planned on playing SWTOR. I have been following the game since it was announced with a passion, and I lost interest about 2-3 months ago, and cancelled my pre-order. I had already used my code though. Anyway, I was bored and went to the SWTOR website (thanks to someone in the BF3 thread wondering when the early access started) and saw that I was eligible to start playing on Dec. 13th, with the rest of the early access gamers.

So, I went ahead and downloaded and installed it. I really hate myself for doing so. I'm only level 20 right now, but this game is amazing. Anyone who has played a BioWare game (excluding DA: 2) could tell you that. I really wanted to go Republic, but all my old guildmates through the years, and real-life friends went Empire, so woe is me. Chose a Sith Inquisitor, Assassin: Deception specialized.

The questing has an amazing feel, and it all feels personalized, like a single-player game. From someone who played WoW from close to release (patch 1.3) until Cataclysm (which drove the final quitting nail in me) (also: EQ, Rift, Age of Conan, Warhammer, Ultima, Dragonball Online, and all the F2P inbetweens,) I can say this game is rich. Of course with anything new, its going to blow your hair back for a second, infatuation and all. But this game really feels like it won't lose its luster in the long run. That is the 'feel' anyway. I don't know what 50 will be like, and right now I don't care. Leveling is so rich and fulfilling, for anyone it is worth $60 at this point, and I'm only level 20.

Space combat is a blast, and Huttball is fun, (once you finally figure the F out how to pass. It is placed on your actions bars, by the way. :p) so there are many options. The game starts with you feeling powerful, and then that dwindles down into a more realistic estate. Unfortunately, the community is somewhat missing. I've tried talking to people, and getting groups, but most of the time, no one replies, ignores me, or simply says they would rather go solo. I remember playing EQ and early WoW, where people were incredibly friendly, and I had no problem getting groups or making friends; those days are gone. But that is OK, as most of the content is soloable, minus a few HEROIC quests, and I have good guildmates and longtime friends.

Of course, the storytelling is phenomenal, for any game, especially an MMO. Star Wars fan or not, you will enjoy it. And yes, no pandas, blah blah blah. Also, the crafting system is perfect. I love just sending my companions to do all the dirty work. It doesn't take away from the game, and pull you from the story, as almost every other MMO does. Also, being able to store your materials on your cargo bay in the ship, thus not taking inventory space, and still having your companions craft: F******* genius :woot: . They really, really did a good job on this one.

Oh, and for a (pre) release, everything is really smooth. This is a great launch, even though I know officially the 20th is the actual launch. Too much shouldn't change by then.

Anyway, I didn't mean for this to turn into some review, but I thought I would just shed some light for people on the fence about it, coming from someone who has played MMOs, RPGs, and even tabletops, for a long ass time. Like I said, I lost my intention to play, but that surge of passion came back after the first steps on Korriban. If you are on the fence, give it a try.

For anyone interested, I play on Rakata Mind Prison-PvP Server. Empire side. My name is Valencia. :)

Yep, I love being able to send my minons off to actually do something. Kudos to Bioware for starting early and giving most of us Decemberists the full five days.

Had a 30 minute queue time on my server. Was no fun.

Anyway, I have an extra pre-order code, considering I went back and re-pre ordered the game, and I already had my original pre-order code entered.

I'm not sure, but I think this code would allow access to the early access. If anyone can confirm this, I'd be more than happy to give the code away to someone. ^_^

EDIT: This is not a registration code, for your copy, it is a Pre-Order code, specifically for the pre-order.

STAR WARS?: The Old Republic? Digital Deluxe Edition Pre-Order Fee

  • 1) Go to www.swtor.com/preorder/code
    2) Click "Redeem Your Pre-Order" (You will be prompted to log in or create a STAR WARS?: The Old Republic? account if needed.)

So, like I said, I'm not sure if it works or not for early-access. Confirmation would be good, so I can hand it over to someone, since I do not need it.
