Never been interested in playing as Sniper. Support sounds boring as hell. Assault/Medic sounds like it is going to be my default class. With Engineer being my second favour. Reckon there will be C4 option? I loved C4 everything in BC2.

We get it, you like CoD.

choked up about them dwarfing your medic class aren't ya? You loved running them trains on other guys on the server didn't you?

Interesting changes they made to the classes from BC2. I guess it's hard to say how this is going to play out once the game gets into everyone's hands, but I suppose that's what the open beta is for. I can't really see how this is going to mitigate the problem of Medic trains (personally I would have given them their own class and stuck them with SMGs like the engineers), but at least they are taking steps towards a solution to BC2's issues.

I thought the Ars Technica preview was pretty interesting, especially the parts regarding the Support class: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/06/hands-on-with-battlefield-3-new-abilities-combat-medics-and-destruction.ars

From the article:

The light machine gunner has a powerful weapon that lays down an impressive amount of fire in a short time, and with the bipod attachment, you can rest the gun on any solid surface to improve your accuracy. This gives you the ability to create a temporary turret wherever there is a solid surface, and this also allows you to use suppressive fire more accurately. When you lay down supressive fire, anyone caught in it will have slightly blurred vision, making it harder to see and move. If one of your teammates kills an enemy that's suppressed, you gain experience points.

Medic trains are easily dealt with. Just introduced a cooldown period of the paddles.
Awesome news that you can now use assault rifles when playing medic. The other changes to classes sound good too. :)
Hopefully I can use my shotgun on the A/M class :shiftyninja:

Seems like DICE is doing everything right with BF3. Also in one of the off screen gameplay vids I saw, it showed that you have to equip grenades before throwing.

Indeed. I'm glad they're using the best features from Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2.

Thanks for posting.

That was beautiful. Multiplayer looks absolutely amazing, just like you said! :)

You're welcome. It was definitely beautiful. The part near the end with the Support soldier in the subway looked stunning. The lighting in this game is awesome.

So Reddit is lighting up with these threads. Don't let them butcher our game. Cancel your preorder. Your money talks.

Boycott
On March 29, 2008,[14] Sarcastic Gamer called for a boycott of the game Battlefield: Bad Company due to news that consumers would be allowed to purchase additional weapons for the game which, though already complete (and included on the game disc), were to remain locked until the user paid a fee to access them. The general consensus of the hosts was that this was an attempt by EA to test public receptiveness to downloadable content of this sort.
Many websites from around the world got involved in or mentioned the boycott[15] making it very popular among gamers and eventually reaching IGN[16] which contacted Electronic Arts, the publisher of the game, causing it to finally cease the idea of paid weapons.[17]
As a result of this, on April 9, 2008 Sarcastic Gamer announced[18] that the goal of the boycott had been achieved and the boycott was lifted.

I don't see why it matters that much. Anyone who is a fan of the series or fps in general is going to pre order (or should). I don't get how it's an unfair advantage as they claim. It's the same argument that people who play more get an unfair advantage over people who play less which I saw a lot in BC2. Silly.

Day one access to things like weapons, mods, and ammo types is one thing... but exclusive weapons, mods, and ammo types? If anything, they should offer unique bonuses for different regions (UK, USA, Canada, etc). Also, these bonuses should be made available at a later date to people that didn't pre-order the game or have identical stats to other things (in other words, make it a skin).

If that doesn't happen, then I'll be disappointed at EA. I'm definitely not a fan of "exclusive" pre-order DLC for multiplayer games.

Same here.

I don't expect to pay for a game and then find that certain guns or outfits have to bought again to unlock.

I'm certainly not going to pay to unlock a type of gun in a game.

What if those guns have identical counterparts in terms of stats (e.g. damage, rate of fire, etc)? If that's the case, then I don't mind it at all. The same goes for other cosmetic changes like different uniforms or accessories that affect appearance. I just hope they don't offer items for sale that give players an advantage over other players that don't have X item.

The ammo is what scares me.

Me too. I don't want to die behind cover in Battlefield 3 because BennyTheBuff has armour-piercing rounds and I don't. All EA has to do is make it so that these items aren't exclusive.

    • Heaven forbid they lose pennies from their Trillions! Like always, the consumer pays the most. Why is Tim Cooks even talking.....shouldn't he be packing up his office??
    • If you have the budget...! Some solo or indies just want to either learn or start their game and aren't in a capacity to pay salaries or to contractors... Get real.
    • Source and more 35 years old?! And if my maths is mathing, that means she was around 10 when The Ring came out?! Damn...scariest 10 year old I think I've ever seen.
