So it's been confirmed that recon/wookie/idiots class will be able to set spawn points... great idea(!)

This should make it fun. Cause if your squad leader is a sniper or always dieing. I am sure he is in a spot you don't want to spawn on him or not on the map at all. Or give away his location if he is a good sniper. To bad they don't add this to all the classes.

^ That quote sums up my feelings/thoughts perfectly.

So does this mean that you can't spawn on squad members anymore or just that recons on your team can set spawn points for the whole team?

Also, since you use the words "set spawn points" I'm assuming the recon could set a spawn point at a tactical location and then go about their business?

Got a link to where the quote came from?

I ended up really enjoying the Commander role. I was hesitant at first.

A good Commander could literally single-handedly win the battle for you.

Absolutely.. I'm saddened by the fact they took out the commander mode in BF3.

I mean if you look at it, the role of commander, in addition to providing artillery and evaluate an overall flow of battle and warn about hostile forces locations, he was also helpful in sync-ing squads and allow squad leaders to communicate to each other through him. This actually worked very good. Unlike Bad Company 2 where you have no way of communicating to other squads, Battlefield 2's commander relayed the information between squads when leaders asked for help or what they needed.

It was also great that commander could have been relieved of the position if most people on your team were unhappy with him.

I'll just leave this here:

And for the lazy ones:

EOD Bot

- Can be placed on the ground

- Player switches to camera view on EOD Bot

- Capable of Arming/Defusing MCOMS

- Can repair vehicles or torch players/vehicles

Radio Beacon

- Acts as a spawn point

- Model looks like a little radio

- Can be placed anywhere

Micro UAV

- Is thrown onto the ground

- Play switches to UAV Camera

- can push the EOD Bot around

- Used for spotting enemies

- No Weapons but to be added?

Radar Beacon

- Can be placed on the ground

- Scans area for enemies

- Only available to Recon Class

Smoke Grenades

- Could be used to cover a choke point entirely

- Should be used to hide a wave of EOD Bots attacking.

And here's another thing I want to share:

As if. We all know what's going to happen here. They are going to set a spawn location somewhere miles away on the edge of the map in bush or up a mountain. I have seen very few good recons. Don't expect them to contribute by going behind enemy lines and placing the spawn point. No, they might get killed then and their precious KDR will go down hill.

Haha  you've got a point!

These Recon Beacons, I bet they're a selectable extra that no one will ever choose.

What Recon Beacon? They don't exist in BF3, their are only Radar Beacons and Radio Beacons which any class can use.

Where did that info come from that only the recon class can place them? :p

Found the info. This is probably one of those moves by DICE to make the recon class more of a team player. Let's hope the people who chose to play recon actually use this beacon in a good and smart way.

Sad to see them raise hope of some people, when it's safe to say they'll never release the mod tools. Because if they do, the only money they will make from DLCs on PC, is if they release DLCs like BC2 Vietnam.

But even then the modding community will beat them to it with great mods like in BF2; which will hurt the sales numbers of those DLCs big times. So in the end, they'll really only make money out of the DLCs on consoles and they don't want that to happen.

i still hope deep down they get effed sales wise because EA just can't shut their mouths...

"Welcome to the big leagues Eric -- I know you're new in the job but someone should have told you this is an competitive industry.

"You've got every reason to be nervous. Last year Activision had a 90 share in the shooter category. This year, Battlefield 3 is going to take you down to 60 or 70. At that rate, you'll be out of the category in 2-3 years. If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk."

what an asshat. if this was football it's like west ham talking **** to man u...

"this is an competitive industry"

Seriously though, the smack-talking isn't cool. What's cool is the physical warfare pack trailer. Did anyone notice how smooth everything looked? It's like it was rendered with 64x anti-aliasing.

or it's just gonna make the smack talkers look like asshats (again...)

Not really BF3 looks to take all the critic rewards and i would be shocked if the sold less then 5-6million units. Will it put up CoD numbers this year? Doubt it, but it will take a chunk out of the normal CoD group.

and tons of people said that about MoH... including EA. also said that about BC2...

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two. Poll Poll: How much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost? $59.99 $69.99 $79.99 $89.99 $100 or more Submit Vote If you have a very specific prediction in mind, sound off in the comments below.
