Some news: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/7541222.page

Basically, someone from Reddit was at GameFest and got info from a DICE employee, stating that the beta has passed certification for all three platforms.

oooh, wonder if we could see it by sometime next week then.

Just got back from gamefest at birmingham. played the demo on the ps3. 24 player max. still said alpha on the screen but it played and sounded good on operation metro map. Also got some engraved battlefiled 3 dogtags and some general battlefiled dog tags as well + posters.

i add some photos to the post later if my camera worked

@Thereaperman - Was the graphics on a PS3 good? Were the maps really that small? Did you feel anything playing @ 30 FPS? Sorry for the questions, I am just a bit too exicted;

In other news, BF3 beta is coming to Xbox Live next week. Source: http://myona.com/2011/09/19/ea-battlefield-3-beta-coming-xbox-live-week/

@Thereaperman - Was the graphics on a PS3 good?

The graphics were not much different to the PC version. There not as good but could not tell you why

Were the maps really that small?

They only had one map to play which was the same as the pc one "metro". It is the same as the PC as far as I could tell only got 15mins to play it.(i think the boundery was set a little smaller tho)

Did you feel anything playing @ 30 FPS?

The game ran fine, did not notice the frame rate at all. Some of the other players said it had lagged at one point, but I did not notice it(remeber it still is a alpha build)

As I only play PC games. I found using the playstation controller no problem after about 2mins getting used to the controler.

Well it's 20th here in NZ, no warning no updates (besides an origin client one a couple of days ago) so I guess it's not going to be till next week so as to deceive users a bit more by being only "in last remaining few hours of September".

Anyway, that aside also picked up on the US BF3 and dead space offer page the following at the bottom (http://store.origin.com/store/ea/html/pbPage.bf3promo/)

Players who pre-order the game from Origin will be granted early access to the Open Beta for Battlefield 3 when it goes live in September 2011. Early Beta access is for US PC Download customers only.

It's open to interpretation of what this means by bad wording of course and also the fact that the page and deadspace 2 seems geographically restricted to the US also so yeah... hard to know if they're really managing this as poorly as possible or just not fronting up about the obvious.. :blink:

I read that the beta for all three platforms (PC, PS3, & X360) is complete and all that's left is certification from Microsoft and Sony. Once that's done, the beta should start.

Doubt it has anything to do to certification, as it's already been passed: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/974328-official-battlefield-3/page__view__findpost__p__594318404

Someone asked about the US exclusive early access some EA or DICE rep (I don't remember who). Turns out the EA site is incorrect and every region will get early access, if you own LE MoH or have pre-ordered via Origin.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
