What's this crap about vehicles auto-healing?

Vehicles auto healing? So there is no need for engineers to repair them? That kinda doesn't make any sense. In fact I think it will make tanks insanely over powered. Especially if they have some sort of armor increasing upgrade on them. However, I hope they make smaller vehicles like hummers harder to kill so riding in one isn't an automatic one ticket to respawn land.

Then again I haven't played the game at all so I guess it's still to early to say that.

it's probably the same idiot who did the balancing in BC2

Oh yeah, the guy who thought giving the gun with the biggest clip size, highest fire rate, and as accurate as a sniper rifle at any distance was a good idea and balanced. Good times. I may have to pop in BC2 and play a few rounds.

MEDIC TRAINS!!!

I think the vehicle healing may be what it used to be in BF2. If there was an engineer in a tank and they drove up to another tank, they could heal the tank. Any vehicle for that matter. So fine by me, I thought it worked really well in BF2 actually and always wondered why they took it out. Because honestly in 64 player games, it is pretty damn easy to not be a vehicle for that long at all.

That sounds fine. I admit I didn't play BF2 that much, I didn't have a capable computer at the time so I don't know much about it. But those notes, where ever they are from are making it sound like vehicles auto heal themselves if they're "out of combat" for 15 seconds. Sounds like an mmo mechanic.

I'm trying to get into some BC2 games tonight but I don't see it happening because of their wonderful 2gb patches. Have they talked about improving their patcher in BF3?

It's because it contains all the previous patches for both BC2 and Vietnam, hence why it's so big.

@Alladaskill17: You've come to that conclusion how? You haven't even played the whole game yet plus you haven't seen all the maps.

The question still remains, are they improving the efficiency of their patcher for bf3? Their stupid patching process was one of their main excuses for why it took them so long to add in game balances to BC2. I'm assuming it won't be much different going from Frostbite 1.5 (BC2) to Frostbite 2 (Bf3) but I hope I'm wrong and it has been improved majorly.

At EA UK forums I have read some hints from Mikael Kalms (DICE dev) that patching process should be better in BF3. Whether it will actually turn out to be remains to be seen. At least the server browser and stat tracking is separate from the game client and should be easier to update.

Area effect Heals/Repairs is all fine and dandy.

But I think this is far from what they're referring to here. They're talking vehicles auto-repairing themselves when less than 75%?

Defeats the purpose of even having a drill on your engy class.

Might as well take the heal packs away from the medics while they're at it.

I admit that does sound slightly weak when it is written out, but honestly that is no different than if you do actually survive some heavy combat and are safe for 15 seconds. Either a real engineer would heal you or one of the other vehicles with an engineer in it I mentioned before. I think auto doing it after 15 seconds is just speeding up the inevitable, and for most people it will probably happen in less than 15 seconds.

I always talk a lot about how I was a big tank ###### in BF2, and it is not an exaggeration at all, it is very much true. However I hardly ever mention the fact that I almost always played with a real good friend of mine and he was always a great engineer. Knew exactly when to repair, was incredibly accurate and vicious on the mounted gun. TBH, most of the really good tank drivers you come across with in the game, they always, always have a good engineer with them. When I had other engineers with me that did not know the role of engineer perfectly, I definitely die much faster. Without a good engineer, you will die fast. Very fast.

It's because it contains all the previous patches for both BC2 and Vietnam, hence why it's so big.

I just found out about the weather details when I posted so YEAH I am just now coming to that conclusion and I do not have to play the game to know I wish there was cycling times of day and varying weather ...

You've read about that where?

@rajputwarrior: True that :p

@trag3dy: It only happens after an X amount of minutes. Engineers will still be needed for fixing vehicles since other engineers can easily destroy tanks within those minutes.

They're referring to schitz-o-phren-ic's post on the previous page. And it says the vehicles auto-heal in 10-15 seconds.

Just for you, since you're incapable of google or going back a page or two for information...hope this source is enough for you.

Speaking to the German Battlefield 3 community, he commented on the state of mod tools in the game and whether we would be seeing them at some point. Matros shared that mod tools are still being heavily considered for Battlefield 3, however he still couldn?t go into any detail regarding whether or not they would make an appearance. He also mentioned that there will be no time or weather changes during multiplayer games and that you will be able to form squads with friends during the beta.

    • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
