Regarding the graphics, they are a lot better than bc2 even in the beta. Forstbite 1.5 had very limited lighting capabilities, and frostbite 2 absolutely destroys it in that area. The shadows and lighting look leaps and bounds better.

Also metro really doesn't show off the graphics very well. When I played caspian I was just amazed at how good this game looks.

Crysis 2 does look better in certain areas for sure (mainly shader effects and post processing. Stuff like the bokeh blur and particle blur in crysis 2 look amazing) but I think BF3 looks amazing in its own right. I was very impressed that my fps was the same on caspian border as it was on metro, and that map is huge.

on a sidenote, this game REALLY REALLY needs a borderless windowed mode. It would make the whole battlelog experience so much smoother. My system has a really annoying bug with dx10/11 games where if I go fullscreen 70% of the time it blacks out my second monitor and I have to alt-enter 20 times to get it to work properly.

I don't know why borderless windowed mode isn't a standard option for every game. Its a godsend, and far superior to fullscreen imo.

What is this "borderless windowed mode" you're talking about and how is playing a game in windowed mode superior to fullscreen? :s

@KoL: Nope, it's a beta with only 2 maps; Operation Metro and Caspian Border. The latter is invite only.

This happens on pc too, it's switching screens too fast causes it. Just have to suicide or get killed then goes back to normal.

if you alt tab out of the game and back in on PC that'll fix that. happens to me once in a while too.

honestly. i had some fun with metro cause my team was working well. but all it wanted me to do was re-install BC2 (which i uninstalled for this) and play that cause i still like that game more.

also, i forget who said it, i definitely think the sound is better in BC2.

Its a fullscreen, borderless window. It looks identical to playing in fullscreen, while retaining the advantages of playing in a window (alt tabbing). its a standard option in newer source engine games (l4d2, portal 2) and any orange box engine game can run it with a launch option. I believe WoW has this option as well.

I understand this is the beta but holy crap on the map glitches/clipping (PS3 version). A lot of players are taking advantage of this bug and camp under the map. I've been killed this way so many times, especially near the A m-com.

As for teammates playing CoD style, very true. Last game I was in, there were so many running around trying to find enemies to kill that it left holes in defense to let them through. Hopefully the experience will be better if my friends were on at the same time.

They already fixed this in the pc beta, I take it the consoles didn't recieve a fix? I agree it was incredibly annoying and I could not stand playing metro because of it.

I'm disappointed with metro just like everyone else who was a fan of battlefield 2. Though I love the game play and the sounds, the first time I was in the tunnel I was amazed that it actually sounded like a tunnel. I'm hoping the rest of the maps are more like CB and less like metro. My biggest gripe right now is the lens flare on the scope for snipers, it looks like someone shining a flashlight half way across the map. I also don't like that the lens flare is present indoors too. Other then that I'm glad a pre-ordered it. First time I've actually pre-ordered a video game before.

It's a tactical flashlight, It's supposed to be blinding.

They should have, I thought consoles were using dedicated servers too?

I agree, but there is no counter to it. Not even against your team mates. I was joking around to some friends that there should be a sunglasses perk or something to counter it but then I realized there really isn't a counter to it.

Like team killing, eventually some one will decide to use it to troll people, too.

^Nope, it's actually a Flashlight. Hence why it's called "Tactical Flashlight" in game ;)

when you use a sniper scope in the underground sections it looks like they have a flash light when they do not. ive killed many snipers like this standing at the tunnel entrace.

Ah, that. Yeah, that's indeed a lens flare :p I for one am glad they've added the flare. Without it it's hard to spot a person who's sniping from a bush or whatever. Though yeah, it might look odd when you see it indoors. Perhaps they could've made the glare as if it where reflecting the lights inside the metro station.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
    • Microsoft, totally not confusing /s 25H2 - Current for non-Arm based Windows 26H1 - Current for Arm based Windows 26H2 - Only for non Arm Windows
    • After I installed those, my older but capable Win 11 laptop (16GB RAM) reported it as 26H2 26300.8697. Then I installed it on my big laptop (128GB RAM! Hehe sorry), it reported it as 25H2 26220.8690. Ugh. Do I have to switch Insiders channels from Release to Beta?
