I have to say, today was my first "good" day and, damn, this game can actually be very fun. I admit, I was extremely disappointed in it at first but now I do see its potential. Hell, I'm even not that mad about the high damage model, though I definitely wouldn't mind if DICE slightly reduced the damage output (make it one or two more bullets to kill). Also, turns out the best way to play it is not to camp in a bush in prone but just go into action even if it means certain death. Plus you can even get better KD that way... Who would've known...

Regarding prone, personally I am still not a fan of it, but I admit it can be useful for quickly hiding behind a small piece of cover when under fire and being sneaky for a short time. It does get annoying when bushes are full of pronebros though. You can't bloody spot them!

BTW, the UMP is hilariously powerful.

EDIT

The fact that, when equipping the flashlight, it's always on by default is bull****.

EDIT #2

162 pages and the game isn't out yet. :p I wonder if this thread will beat BC2's 358.

On the prone issue I can't help but feel that those who a pro-prone use it a lot, and those who are anti-prone don't use it all or very little. The ONLY time I'm proning is when I spawn on a squad mate who is prone or when I'm coming under HEAVY fire. Other than that, I don't use it. But I get the feeling that a lot of people use it to get easy kills and to be "sneaky".

I use it a lot when under heavy fire and I need to revive and throw med packs out to team mates, it makes a huge difference compared to just standing there being completely vulnerable..

I will use it to sneak up on objectives too and use the bushes to do so, its smarter than going out in the open.

it's not a feeling, it's the truth

lol it was sarcasm... hence the ;), though i did forget the "?" . unless your comment was sarcasm as well, then well played...

Yeah you missed out the ? you noob! :p

I think the damage model is near on perfect it could do with some tweaking but not a lot. Snipers need to be looked at for sure. Yeah as you might have guessed I run in like a headless chicken and do what I do. Played (again) with the SVD, no scope and I love it. OHK sometimes but normally 2 hit kills. It's unstoppable!

I find the body model lags behind your movement. So when I'm trying to duck down for cover my body model (ie hitzone) is still lagging behind. This is demonstrated when you prone behind cover under heavy fire and you still take damage when out of sight. I've been killed when I'm round a corner when I'm out of the line of sight. And I've killed people once they have gone around the corner, something I shouldn't be able to do. They need to fix the lagging hitboxes.

Heavy fire yes. Everything else no. I'll crouch over the body and revive. Everything else I'll run and gun, and drop ammo/health.

As for sneaking up on the objective. Pffffft, in the time it takes you to crawl to the objective (I've watched people do this). I've made a few runs and did plenty. All the while you've been on your belly doing your best snake impression not helping your team at all. Sure you might get some sneaky kills, but all you've achieved there is becoming a bush lover.

Well no one should crawl all the way, that's a bit silly but you can die just as easily running all the way there, got to use a mix of both and stay low.....a few weeks of Red Orchestra 2 has taught me that one :p

Pronebros, I like that.

You can prone in real life; you like Battlefield for its realism so do not be hypocritics when such a basic action by someone in battle (laying down) is incuded in the game. They will either learn that many of them choose awful "camp" spots and are reguarly knifed or they will be helpful spotter/sniper (preferably) but really anyone who plays when necessary to prone.

Sent from ipad apologies for spelling errors and run ons if any.

I surely didn't miss prone in BC2, but I can live with it. There have been a few times after a big firefight in the subway I'll look in the corridor to make sure everything's clear only to be killed by someone lying in the pile of dead bodies, haha.

I really hope they reduce the killcam time. It gets annoying and many times isn't useful since the camera is zoomed in so close. You can't access the menu or look at the scoreboard during this time, either.

Since they made changing gadgets and accessories more cumbersome I'd rather be dealing with that than staring at the guy that just killed me from who knows where.

My only beef with the game is the flash light. its to damn bright.

but having said that, it serves its purpose, if only it faded over time and needed to be recharged, then you wouldnt have 32 bright lights running all over the place at the same time.

The flashlights are ridiculously bright. It's quite silly and unnecessary.

Agreed 100%. It completely sucks that you aren't able to access the menu, or quit for that matter, until after the killcam expires. This is my biggest gripe with the game.

Flashlights are just stupid in this game. Someone that is like 100 yards away, is still putting a huge glare in my eyes with some super LED flashlight on his gun... I got a teammate to the right of me, spinning in a circle, blinding me with every pass.... It's like a constant flashbang in your face, and from every player! They really need to tone it down, or give the option to wear sunglasses lol.

Also, I am really annoyed by the death screen. Can't go to options, can't check score, just sit and look at the douche who killed you that you never saw coming.... They need to either add a kill cam that shows you how you died, or allow the player to switch away from that horrible angle view. Also, If you do manage to bring up the Main Menu just before you die, when you respawn, it will leave your screen in that funky blue hue unless you bring the Main Menu back up and then go back into the game - at least on the PS3.

Game is a ton of fun, but the map distances are just too big for there not to be a kill cam. I won't learn how I am dieing if I can't ever see it. Was my head over a wall? Was my foot sticking out? My barrel too long for my cover? What did I do wrong?

Why is everyone complaining about flashlights...they are not THAT bright. They only really annoy me a bit inside the metro from close range, like a few meters. Which makes sense.

I love the flashlight. Many forget to turn it off outside and they make great targets for me with my sniper rifle. I aim for the light and usually get a kill.

They certainly are bright. I cant count how many times a guy with a shotgun runs at me with his light on, blinding me so I cant shoot him effectively. It's annoying that there is no counter to it other than, shoot them before they look at you, or just blind fire... I had a fight with one guy, were we both basically just ran circles , facing each other, me blind firing at him because I couldn't see a single thing but white light, and him sucking and not hitting me for my 2 clips of ammo. I finally just ran the hell away and died to one of his teammates. I know I was sucking as well, but I couldn't see anything, and I'm sure he could see me just fine with that damn bright light :p

The only time I don't mind it, is in wide open places were the blinding is very minimal. But even still, it bilnds just about as bad as the lazer pointer from long range.

Just ran into my first hacker in the beta, I don't know how he was doing it but somehow everyone was being transported at random to a location under a bridge and then nailed with a claymore and/or shot to death, happened to everyone in the server every time they spawned with one person getting all the kills, it was quite a sight.

Did you get his/her name?

So far, I've only had one crash-to-desktop, and one random disconnection. Loving the game overall, and will probably end up upgrading my gfx card to handle it better. My FPS doubled after dropping to Medium settings, but that's still only ~50. :/

Has anyone been able to customize controls correctly? I'd like to set crouch to mouse3, and sprint to mouse4, but it won't let me.

I swapped the knife and fire mode keys and those seemed to work, but I do remember reading that you can't use mouse 3, 4, 5, etc. in the Beta. I'm guessing that's the problem here.

As far as I know they've disabled the ability to map keys to mouse buttons completely. But it's just for the beta, once the game is officially out you should be able to.

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
