Unless there's evidence that the hacks will work without being detected by PunkBuster, I don't think there's any reason to think that the game is ruined. PunkBuster has done wonders with Bad Company 2. I think I've only come across one hacker in the 80+ hours I played. Sure, that doesn't seem like a lot of playtime but I'm sure others here (that have a lot of playtime) can agree with me.

The only bad thing now is the beta will be full of hackers. I hope EA/DICE deals with them swiftly by banning their EA accounts.

I played for a while tonight and didn't see any hackers. People claiming this game is ruined before it's even out need to relax a bit. I've said it before, in the nearly 2 years since BC2 was out I put around 600 hours into that game and I saw maybe 5 hackers.

Evenbalance works pretty closely with DICE to make sure their game is as free from hackers as any game can possible be. No need to over react just yet. This game won't go down in a giant ball of fire like Crysis 2 did.

I finally got around to downloading the "beta" on 360 yesterday and spent 30 minutes trying to get into a match. Never would connect. Not sure how I feel about getting on release - like I have with BC1, BC2, and 1943. Each one has been a mess initially with connecting.

The problem Anaron is that they won't . It's money for them. They will allow them to buy or use another copy of the game.

To really deal with this there has to be A) criminal persecution for hacking a game just like it is with any other online service (aka hacking) and this also needs to apply to consumers who use the hacks and B) the ban needs to be permanent and that means that once you get banned you can't play ANY of the games from that publisher period.

But this will never happen because publishers don't care about the platform. They care about cha-ching over and over again, but in reality they don't count that 1 of these dipsticks will cost them 5 regular folks who would buy a game because they won't put up with that crap as it ruins the game completely.

You're over reacting more than a little bit. It's been said that people who get caught hacking will be banned completely from Origin. That's enough for me.

You're over reacting more than a little bit.

No I'm not.. I can't stand someone making an idiot out of me. And hacks are exactly that.. some little sh*t is sitting, using hacks and laughing while we are trying to have fun. They need to be severely punished to never get another idea of using anything of sorts and learn to play games competitively and fairly. There are no shortcuts in life and they need to learn that they can't just cheat and get away with it when they suck. Most of us went through tons of disappointment, failures before we learned to play.. it's part of the process.. bypassing that by using cheap hacks is like a guy jumping in your waiting line to the first spot because they just feel like it. If they did that in real life they would get beaten up.

I agree that hacks are irritating but like I said, from my experience with DICE games and PB there is no reason to get concerned just yet. You're jumping the gun quite a bit.

Playing on well admin'd servers any hacker that PB doesn't ban instantly will be banned by the admin. I really don't think it's a cause for concern at this point.

Right.. we'll see.. but I"m not optimistic.. seeing how advanced their hacks are now.. it is very unlikely that PB will do sh*t.

I am just pi**ed off because every single server I join now has at least 1 douche loser using hacks. It's completely out of control, but ok, let's say it's because there is no PB. We'll see when the game comes out.

For the past week of beta testing, despite all the hit reg issues, instant kills, latency problems, and just general netcode bull, I've found this game extraordinarily easy to come out on the top of the scoreboard consistently.

Not trying to brag, but when I'm Recon, a full round will almost assuredly net me 30+ kills, and I rarely die over twice in a game. If I do, it's usually just before I quit. Be it with the SKS, MK11, SVD, M40A5, the recon weapons are just so damn easy to kill with once you get a feel for the bullet drop on each weapon. Combined with a silencer (give or take, since it makes hitting moving targets a LOT harder), and a 4x or smaller scope, other snipers don't see your lens flare, and it grants you a few extra seconds to pop them in the head.

I want to try another class, but the next unlock always looks so juicy! I'll have the M98 next up. Also, to clarify, I am an offensive sniper. I don't by any means drag my team down by holding back. For instance, there is a place around B within the subways, inside one of the cars that you have a perfect angle to see out of the doorways and windows, but it's such a small window from the outside that they can barely shoot you. From there alone, I've gotten over 15 kills in one life, holding off the hallway almost single handedly while my team disarms.

Ok fine, I admit it, I'm bragging :) I feel like I have a right to when I experience ALL of the lag 10x as much due to having 150+ ping to all the servers :p

What's the current Caspian Border password??

There isn't one. The link I posted says:

As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET).

Sucks for the console guys but then again, I don't play on a console so it doens't bother me.

Consoles version also doesn't support 64 players games, so they lost noting.

I don't know what it is about Caspian Border but from the hour I played on it the map is just incredibly laggy. It's not low frame rates and it doesn't feel like high latency. It's just whenever I get into a firefight with someone the game would freeze momentarily which resulted in me dieing every time.

On the other hand I got try out a jet and a helicopter and they handle surprisingly well, a lot better than BC2. There was no freezing while I was in the vehicles, which I find kind of odd.

I also like the turbo boost for tanks. All in all a fun map, if not for the not so random freezing.

It's not lag so much as a complete game freeze for 2-3 seconds every time I encounter an enemy, like the game gets paused briefly. Lag would be people teleporting around, and the server I was playing on had a ping of 60. Also it didn't seem to happen when I was in a vehicle. I guess that could fall under the definition of lag though.

It's not network latency what you are experiencing, it's the server being stressed out so much that things get wonky. That's what DICE is trying out at the moment with the servers, to see how much stress they can suffer before things going down the drain.

Makes it bit of pain to play but I'm ready to suffer that 'cause Caspian Border is amazing <3

EDIT

Hi, a guy with 1200h wasted in BC2 reporting in. Cheaters aren't a huge problem in that game; PB in conjunction with good admins and 3rd party ban lists (PBBans, GGC, PunksBusted and sometimes the controversial Metabans) make for a gameplay experience that is a majority of time cheater free. Also, keep in mind that PB Screens practically don't work in BC2 but will in BF3.

    • WordArt was cool. We now have color fonts as a substitute although Word only supports COLRv0 and COLRv1 (Fraud OS 11 only). The OpenType SVG color font format needs to be supported by Office. Adobe's apps support it
