Overview of two new multiplayer maps:

EDIT

Hi, a guy with 1200h wasted in BC2 reporting in. Cheaters aren't a huge problem in that game; PB in conjunction with good admins and 3rd party ban lists (PBBans, GGC, PunksBusted and sometimes the controversial Metabans) make for a gameplay experience that is a majority of time cheater free. Also, keep in mind that PB Screens practically don't work in BC2 but will in BF3.

The maps look really good. I'm really excited for this game!

I downloaded the beta but even at 100%, it is still downloading.

It doesn't seem to stp.

the progress bar shows 100%.

Any ideas?

And no, no ideas, sorry. Your best bet is to post in the tech support forum on battlelog.

This is interesting:

Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 has hi-res texture pack on second disc

Optional install on Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 enhances graphics.

The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 will let users stream higher resolution textures by installing content found on the game's second disc, DICE has revealed.

"There's a voluntary install on the 360," said Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu speaking to GamerZines yesterday.

"I think Rage did it as well, where you can install content to stream higher res textures.

"We're pushing that technology to the limit, and compared to our competitors, I would argue that we're the best looking game."

According to Liu, the game's single-player, co-op and multiplayer are also split up between the two discs, although he wouldn't confirm which modes are present on which disc.

It's not yet known whether the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 will also include the same hi-res textures on the Blu-ray disc.

We went hands-on with both versions of the game yesterday, and in terms of visuals, the Xbox 360 version certainly took the edge over the PS3 version.

Battlefield 3 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 28th.

Caspian border is open for rest of the beta :)

Some server providers seem to have terrible servers though. i3d, myIS, artofwar were all laggy as hell for me whenever I try them. Multiplay is usually the best bet for lag free server.

Finally !!!! We can play Caspian Border ! Playing right now as we speak. Works great.

Makes sense since the PS3 is pretty much a port from DirectX to OpenGL so it doesn't have the same DirectX optimizations that they were probably able to use from the PC code to Xbox360.

Teleport hack? :s

I hope he's not talking about the recon class' radio. Since they can put a radio down and everybody can spawn on it...

One of the guys mentioned it some pages back.

Basically someone on the opposite team would get everyone on your team to spawn in a specific area.

That's where they would ambush.

This was being done to my team.

Somehow they summoned/spawned/teleported us to their base in which we would get ambushed there.

Those able to fight them off would just die due to out of area counter.

I really hope they fix 64 player servers crashing at the end of the round. It seems slightly better than it was in the closed caspian test, but caspian servers still keep disconnecting me at the end of the round pretty often. Rubberbanding is also still a big issue. Really hope these get worked out, I really can't take another release like BC2 where everyone was rubberbanding for months.

That's great news, because the textures on the beta were horrible. They were incredibly muddy, and it made it extremely difficult to see enemy players.

Sounds promising, might look in to picking this up now :) Question is does this kill the framerates?

After a few more games on Caspian Border I gotta say... people are stupid. 3/4 of my team always end up standing around where the helicopters and jets spawn and then they don't even know how to fly so they crash in 10 seconds. And then we lose because no one is going after capture points. Iirritating as hell. I would like for DICE to do something about this, but they can't patch the game to fix stupid people. Hopefully all those sorts of people will decide the game is crap and not get it.

I'm still getting the feeze thing, too.

Perhaps they should have everyone go through a rigorous training before they are allowed to pilot the aircrafts.

Dear god, the lag is atrocious. I've tried 2 matches, and both i had severe rubber-banding, and i was unable to even play the game. The browser server selection is also annoying, why the heck did EA/DICE have to mess with a good thing, which was letting us choose servers in-game so we can quickly hop to another one.

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. GH1749 In the Master Password Setup window, "Show Master Password" is no longer truncated on some displays. GH1092, SF1595 Size and position of main window is now correctly restored on scaled displays. SF1630 Keep password expiry date when both password and password expiry are changed; don't clear a non-recurring expiry when the password's changed. SF1628 Custom values can now be copied to the clipboard in read-only mode via Ctrl-C and right-click->Copy Value. New features GH1196 Dark display mode support: Password Safe now supports the system display mode, as well as setting the mode directly via Manage->Options->Display->Display Mode. This change also updates the general "look & feel" of the app to the current Windows theme. Known limitations: The Date picker and keyboard shortcut controls do not switch to dark theme The Customize Toolbar dialog does not switch to dark theme Custom Field support has been added to the more advanced features: Filters XML and Text import and export Comparison, Sync and Merge databases SF938 Custom field values may now be selected by name and copied via a "Copy Custom Field Value..." submenu in the entry context popup menu. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
    • How do you connect 5.1 Speakers to this thing?
    • I agree with both of you... It's absolutely imperative that science is completely based on actual proven facts and hard evidence and is not considered dogmatic in any way. Science is not a religion and it will never be, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be.
