Just downloaded PC beta and it's the first game in a long time I haven't been able to run... :( This makes me a sad panda. (unsupported graphics card)

maybe its time for an upgrade. thats how i usually upgrade....when my components are the minimum reqs........ time to shell out some cash

Gonna have to sound like a n00b here but with my PC specs below, I need to try and drive the game at 1080p (which is my monitors native res) - will a good graphics card upgrade do this, or will I really need to think about upgrading my CPU as well?

The system plays Bad Company 2 quite well at 1080p and certainly I'm not precious about getting 60fps as some more hardcore gamers are...

I'm able to run it with everything on high, 1080p, Anti-Aliasing of 4 and the Anisotropic filter set to I believe 4. I'm running the game with a AMD Athlon II X4 365 (2,9GHz), 4GB RAM and a GTX460 1GB EE.

I don't think conquest is for me. It's such a slower paced game type. And I really hate the randomness of it, too. I always end up getting killed by some idiot prone in the bushes who doesn't move for the entire game. Plus the point intake is way less than what I can make in Rush.

Maybe it's just because I've had such bad experience on that map so far, though performance seemed to be better today though. Not nearly as much freezing that I can recall.

To be fair, that map is gargantuan compared to Op. Metro and all of BC2's conquest maps so there might be more action packed and smaller ones in final. But I do feel that it needs more light vehicles for infantry. Far too often I ended running from one flag to another without any action at all.

I'm hoping so. With the beta running on my 27" 2560x1440 monitor the blurriness is totally stupid. I don't feel so blind playing BC2 on it, just this game.

Sorry, but if your running an Xbox 360 on a monitor with a native resolution as the one you've told us, then of course it's going to be blurry.

I had about 20 minutes before to finally check out a match of Conquest. It is my favorite BF mode by far, pretty much the only one I play, and I honestly kind of regret checking it out, as I did not have a pleasant experience at all. Team Killing was beyond rampant, so I definitely cannot wait to join servers in the retail version where something is done about it.

The other thing is my happiness with the performance of my 2 460's in SLi has taken a bit of a hit now too and reality has set in. I pretty much knew it was a possibility to happen, since Caspian is a much larger map with a higher player count. I was hoping it would not be the case, but performance in some areas went to the low 40's. In others it was 60- to even high 70's. Was a pretty drastic difference, and I do not think it is just a Beta thing. I think it is the reality of the situation. The FPS only took a hit in areas where a lot was going on, so it seems it was perfectly normal and reasonable that it was happening.

So looks like when the final game is released, I will be lowering some graphical settings to get the game to run at a constant 60 FPS. I know some do not feel it is necessary, but for a proper BF experience, I actually feel it is imperative. So it is either lower graphic settings, or a new GPU, and I have decided to show some willpower and wait for the 600 series Nvidia is supposed to release sometime next year.

I have not been TKd once since playing. Not saying you haven't but just surprised. I am having a blast playing. Once I figured out the map layout it has been a blast.

I'm getting lots of freezing on Caspian Border, game just randomly freezes. Also getting loads of green/blue/whatever screens flashing...

Quite irritating

Check your video card. I was having the same problems and discovered that my drivers were not ramping up my fan when the card was heating up, atleast not enough. I have an Radeon 5850 and use the ATI Control Panel to manually run my fan about 65%. No issues since then.

A-10 looks sweet...

and it's a two seater.

Awesome. I didn't know an A-10 spawned on that map, I haven't ever seen one yet.

Here's a question for ya'all.. how do you use missiles in jets? Because as far as I can tell there is no way to switch weapons in them, seems to be broken. Pushing the 1-2-3-4- buttons don't work. F buttons don't work, alt and ctrl don't work. Using the mouse scroll wheel like normal weapon swapping doesn't work either. What am I missing?

I think airplanes in the beta do not have bombs or missiles, only machine guns.

I would say I'll give it a try, but I think the beta ended yesterday? :p

Anyway, I have a 5770, so the problems could be related. Thanks! :)

It's still going at least until tomorrow (the 10th) in the afternoon. Wouldn't be surprised if it was extended at all.

When the beta ends does anyone know if they are going to wipe platoons and friends lists along with stats? That would be lame if so.

Edit: the beta will end in aprox. 3 hours.

One thing I don't like about the beta is the fact about 5-7 people on caspian would just line up for a jet, not even bothered to help with the flags... :( Jets seem to be the end all be all in this great game... :(

I take it by your comment that you never played Battlefield 2 then? :D

No not for me. imo opinion the killed all that was Battlefield.

Maybe i'm wrong... this is just based on the beta game i played.

You obviously didn't play Caspian Border or something.. That's the real Battlefield experience better than ever.

Can't wait for Gulf of Oman, Back To Karkand, Wake Island with new engine..

The only thing we need are blackhawks but Caspian Border just might not have them.

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
