I dont get why people complain about a game, no one is forcing them to buy it right away. im sure all those features will be there eventually, and the game can be played just fine without them, so quit your crying. Dont get me wrong, i want those features as well, but im not gonna complain about them since it doesnt ruin the game for me.

The only thing that directly affects me is the lack of in-game ping so I will bitch about it until it's implemented but I understand the frustration of others regarding the all other features which both are essential for the game not only to be a "true" BF2 successor, but also to make this game in any way suitable for serious competitive matches. I am not going to play this game competitively but a lot of people were looking forward to that, especially after the whole "we will focus on esports" stuff said by zh1nt0 which was apparently pointless.

I hope all of that will be patched in ASAP but then again, it's DICE...

DICE stayed pretty truth to what they said for the most part so I personally don't worry too much and am sure they will add these things later on. Though there's one thing I totally don't get, people bitch that the games ship without these features now to make it first before MW3, not that nice but somewhere understandable. Soo if they take their time and add the features the game will get release later. Essentially that means that players have no loss, they can play the game earlier and they still get the features after a waiting period.

Granted DICE could have lied and will never release the features but why bitch before anything is certain, the game isn't even out yet^^

@TableFox @Battlefield I know ping is one of the things people want to see. Will probably be added in later depending on feedback.

What the hell? :/

there is no ping in the server browser or in the game scoreboard itself? that's retarded... i hate the stupid wifi bars that console games like to use...

In game is my understanding, it was there in Battelog in the Beta, so cannot see why they would remove it in the retail.

I hope not all maps will consist of cities, dust and sand. I'd like some jungle maps like BC2's Valparaiso and Laguna Presa.

EDIT

Good news everyone. In order to be able to ship this game before MW3, DICE have decided not to ship it with features I guess most don't really give a damn about, right?

No Battlecorder, 1st person spectator functionality (hooray for wanting this game to be worth anything in the competitive scene...), com rose and no in-game ping (WHAT THE **** IS THIS ****. Even BC2 had it). All confirmed by zh1nt0 on Twitter.

OK, it's entirely possible that these things will be added at a later date with patches. Still doesn't change the fact that I'm disappointed. Very, very disappointed.

BC2 didn't have in game ping when it first launched.

I don't think the BF games on console even had a wi-fi bar. In BC2, at least, I never saw any connection status, which is really odd.

Oh now that's a fun fact. Didn't know this. How long did it take to patch it in? Even though I had it since launch, I didn't jump right into multiplayer but played SP first.

Edit

Still no excuse for leaving such a feature out. :p

A month or so maybe? It was added in the first or second patch they did. Before they started overhauling the server browser. I don't recall exactly, that was almost 2 years ago.

The maps look awesome. I can't wait to play them all on top of the Back to Karkand maps. Any word on when they're revealing those maps?

Still on edge about getting this. Played Caspian Border for a bit before the beta ended at it was really boring. Even with 64 players on, it was hard to find teammates let alone enemies. A fourth of the team was trying to get the jets... meh.

You don't have to play in a 64-player server. There are other game modes with a lower player-count as well as vehicles. As much as I love conquest mode, I see myself playing rush and TDM more.

Also of course everyone was trying to get into the vehicles, they want to try it, give it a couple weeks and im sure all that will go away, all the COD kiddies will leave and the "new" factor for vehicles will go away.

    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
    • Just saw a news report of a Waymo driving into a flooded road.
