Just started the single player. I really don't like it. The cutscenes and voice acting are excellent and there's really impressive presentation in places, but the gameplay is super meh. It also feels like you die way too easily, I am playing on normal on the street section near the beginning where you pick up the lmg, i pretty much just ragequit. The single player gameplay just seems like call of duty, but worse.

I have a really annoying problem, every now and then the game will do a freeze frame or seem like it skips along, it always seems to happen when I encounter an enemy player and then I usually die while I wait for it to correct itself. Does anyone else have this issue? I changed my graphical settings from high to low and nothing seems to make a difference, just random freezing every now and then...otherwise the game runs at a constant 40-50fps for me.

I tried updating graphics drivers but it makes no difference.

AMD 6870HD

I've got the same exact problem and it almost always results in death. It's one thing to be out played, it's an entirely different thing to be outplayed by lag spikes or whatever it is. :s

Also did some co-op via matchmaking today. Completed all of them on hard. It's interesting I guess... but I can only see myself doing it long enough to unlock all the guns and unless they release more co-op missions that's all most people will probably do, too. I'm 3/4 the way to unlocking the m93-emr.

If anyone needs a heli pilot for the second one let me know and I can help you with that. The sucky part is that you need host to be the pilot and I have no idea how the game determines that.

Hmmm, does the Q9550 have HyperThreading? If so disable it in the BIOS. Make sure to turn off your AV and stuff like that.

That part was really annoying, but I did eventually get past it, but I do agree, it seems one dies way to easily at times. But I do have to agree so far. I would not say the SP is bad, but it is not great by any means. I just want to get to the tank mission as I love tanks, just hope that is not to far in.

Really loving this game. Put in a couple more hours tonight with some friends and enjoyed myself immensely.

Here is my best round so far: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/178146/1/337546502/

Aloha guys.. I have set up a kick ass ranked server for BF3. Battlefield Veterans Platoon.

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/servers/show/712c5884-657c-4719-b945-ff99de63c2a9/BFVP-Battlefield-Veterans-Rush-64-Conquest-TX/

Join up so we can have fun. I also listen to folks for map wishes too. Mostly Conquest but we play Rush too.

Also join up the Battlefield Veterans Platoon here:

See you on the battlefield!

Btw, the signature is wack, it's 64 player server not 32.

I have some gripes about some odd design decisions:

1. Obviously, the flash lights are out of control. I shouldn't be that blinded by a flashlight in the middle of the day. You're telling me this thing is brighter than the sun?

2. In Conquest mode, when near a point, the icon and status of the point are very large and right smack dab in the center of your view. It makes it very difficult to try to defend a point.

I can add to this with the chat box, it takes up to much realestate.

I can add to this with the chat box, it takes up to much realestate.

And I can add to that, the position they put it in makes absolutely no sense. Having it on the left side of the screen would make more sense and be much more aesthetically pleasing, too.

I don't know what it is, but every time I post in this thread I get the "Saving Post..." message, but the page never refreshes. It's only this thread that seems to do it, any other thread on neowin is fine. :s

And oh yeah, after 10+ hours of gameplay I finally experienced my first crash. I didn't even have to wait 15 minutes for that to happen in the beta. I'd say the stability is much improved.

Im starting to get sick and tired of the server admins, every time i try to ajust a setting or customise weapons, every server in aus. i get booted. longest game ive had is 3 minutes. (Personally i think they see me apearing from somewhere and are affraid.) :D

So go into the single player and adjust settings there?

I received a code for the SPECACT Kit with the X360 version and when I redeemed it, awarded dog tags instead of the MP skins. I went to the EA support site and began a live chat session with EA adviser to rectify the issue. Within 5 minutes, I was given a code for the SPECACT Kit which I promptly redeemed on Xbox Live. The new code worked and I exited the chat session with a big smile on my face. :D

EA's support has been nothing but amazing to me. I've had some issues in the past that were quickly resolved. (Y)

Happy to report, on a i7 3200K @ 4.00Ghz, 8GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz, nVIDIA 460GTX SC. The game runs flawlessly at max settings w/ vSync. Here I was getting worried my rig wouldn't support it. But to my suprise it does. Running latest drivers all around. No funky issues. It just worked.

Unreal Cinema effects, make you feel like your right there. Very cool. Enjoying it very much.

This is torture, my LE just arrived but my graphics card is still being RMA'd dunno when im gonna get it back, i get 15fps~ with Nvidia GT230 in 720p with everything set to low or off :(

Am in the same boat except my card decided it would un-solder its RAM chips, all by itself. 3 weeks of repeated resusitation and it dead as a brick

Wish you could view soldier stats without logging in to EA's site. I have friends I want to link things too but they don't have an EA account.

This should be going up soon: http://bf3stats.com/

You'll be able to show your stats to people that don't have EA accounts. It's made by the same folks as BFBC2 (Battlefield Bad Company 2 Stats).

Patch R5 being released today, 11am est.

Notes:

Patch level R5 has been scheduled to be pushed onto all servers starting at 11:00 am EST

Changelogs

- Crashfixes

- Player slot issues

- Latest PunkBuster DLLs included (in case the server doesn’t auto-update)

- Security updates

- Fixed some problems with client<->server handshake, which would make players get kicked from the server halfway through loading

The big change on this one besides some crash fixes and the player slot issues is the PB update that the server will have and one of the reasons why this is a mandatory patch that must be applied to all servers. For the current version, PB versions between players and the servers have been almost a guessing game. So, for this patch and hopefully going forward, the latest PB is on the server. What this also means is that players will need to make sure that they have the latest version of PB installed for their game client install.

Daniel Mastros wrote up instructions on how to make sure you are on the latest version of PB.

Manually updating Punkbuster *recommended*

For players that are having problems with not being able to connect, you probably want to take a look at this post.

To Manually update your local PunkBuster Security Files, choose "Save As" from your Web Browser's "File" Menu and explore to find your game folder and the subfolder called "pb".

Save this file in that location (/pb/pbsec.htm or /pb/pbsecsv.htm). The next time you start your game, your PunkBuster will have the latest security information necessary to accept auto-updates from PB Servers.

I like to see putting in more crash fixes in a game that (I think) is pretty damn stable already.

    • There is a default resolution setting in Settings > Display that can be changed with a click. You can also change the settings on a per-game basis. No CLI needed. Also, Steam has countless games that are not "[perpetual] alpha/beta games", so no need for the straw man. Plus you can use other stores as well. And console games (e.g. PS5) cost a fortune, which itself more than negates the price subsidy on the system, unless you plan on exclusively playing 1 or 2 games. It's true that you shouldn't buy a system that doesn't support the game(s) you want to play, but I think that's kinda obvious, and applies to every console as well as PC. I don't game in the living room and have no need of a Steam Machine, but there is a clear market segment that would find it useful.

RSS Guard 5.2.0 changelog: Added: Feed auto-fetch can now also be delayed while Feral GameMode is active on Linux and startup auto-fetch is skipped when GameMode is already active. (#2265) WebEngine builds can now use RSS Guard generated proxy auto-config (PAC) rules so article/web browsing follows per-account and per-feed proxy settings more closely. (#2273) Generated PAC rules now also cover related subdomains and use Public Suffix List data, so feeds such as feeds.bbc.co.uk can also proxy resources from images.bbc.co.uk. (#2273) Standard feeds can now define extra proxy domains, useful when article images, stylesheets or other page resources are loaded from a CDN or another domain that should use the same feed proxy. (#2273) RSS Guard now asks for proxy credentials when a WebEngine page needs proxy authentication and can fill credentials from the current feed proxy when available. (#2273) Network settings again include an option to ignore all cookies, which clears stored cookies and prevents new cookies from being accepted. Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now individually ignore cookies while downloading feed data. Stored cookies can now be deleted from the Tools menu. Custom skin colors can now override the feed list article count color separately from feed titles, including a separate highlighted color. (#2275) Settings dialog can now search across available settings and highlight matching controls. (#1754) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now optionally be reported as broken when they are valid but contain no articles. (#2039) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now override the application-wide feed connection timeout per feed. (#1023) Tray icon can now use a custom background color and unread-count text color, with an option to reuse the generated icon as the application icon. (#1973) Support for more benevolent parsing of Gemlog entries (#2295). Article list can now show when an article was received by RSS Guard. (#947) Feed deep discovery now actually scrapes all links found in the website and checks if they are feeds or not. This greatly enhances usability of the deep discovery mode and discovers many more feeds than before. (#2306) Search boxes now show a small dot when the feed or article list is hiding some items because of active filtering. (#873) Articles now have a shortcut-assignable action to open the homepage of the feed they belong to. (#2060) Fixed: Parallel feed updates no longer crash when multiple update results are processed at the same time. (64cf521) Links in WebEngine articles opened from feeds such as Kill the Newsletter now open correctly instead of being swallowed by the embedded page. (#2272) Relative article URLs resolution was kinda broken. (#2282) Clicking article URL did not work when the URL had "fragment" set. (#2293) The default proxy setting now uses Qt/system default proxy behavior instead of forcing no proxy. (e0263ad) WebEngine article loading now keeps the current feed context, so feed-specific proxy credentials remain available while the article page loads.
