We're in the process of moving so my gaming rig is MIA. Been playing my PS3 copy and had a great game last night. It was so close I had no idea who won until it told us.

so BC2 guys, smoother launch then that game? no rubber banding like hell or random FPS drops, pings going through the roof randomly, ish like that?

This launch is way better. One thing I have noticed is I do get a bit of rubber banding for the first minute or so in a new server, then it clears up and all is well. only had one lock up and that was when I was quitting for the night, not sure what happened.

Leaps and bounds. Bad Company 2 was one of the worst game launches in history; it would be hard to fail worse than that.

There's still some rubber banding, but it seems to be caused by actual lag (EA servers are being hammered right now) rather than terrible netcode. And even then, it's not nearly as bad. You'll ocasionally jump back a few feet, but it's negligible and honestly, seems to be resolved for the most part now.

There's also no serious collision/boundry bugs like there was in BC2. Most of the ones found in the beta are fixed.

Edit: I also had a few game crashes/lockups the first day, but they must have pushed a patch because it didn't crash on me once yesterday.

Lowering my dpi removed most of the negative acceleration, but it still doesn't feel nearly as good as the mouse movement felt in the beta... I don't know why they even changed anything about the mouse movement, it was pretty much perfect.

...
Step 1: Goto Documents>Battlefield3>settings>PROF_SAVE_profile

Step 2: Open in notepad++

Step 3: Change GstInput.MouseSensitivity to 1.00000

Step 4: Open mouse driver sensitivity controls

Step 5: Launch bf3

Step 6: Adjust Mouse Driver settings to lowest sensitivity (whatever feels comfortable)

Sorry if i missed it in a previous post but my sister just got her copy for XBox360 in the mail from gamefly. Seems she can't do coop or MP without a code, but there was no code in the rental package. Is this a known issue? Is each code unique to the game disk?

It's been fine for me so far, got lag when I first launched it but I guess that was due to the amount of koreans launching the game. Runs well with only a few graphical glitches for me

Nope. Even the beta of bc2 was better than this launch.

nice (Y) yeah bc2 launch was oen of the worst ever. but hopefully they don't do things that ruin the game with patches (which would make the game worse in BC2 for a while) and one dbag that controls all the balancing of weapons and classes. I still owe him a kick in the nuts for inventing medic trains...

That's weird, I don't have any problem with mouse control. And I have a new mouse and everything. Only the sensivity that was way to high.

+100 on this. The constant patching to appease the whiners is what killed BC2 for me.

Game codes are unique, so you won't receive one if you're renting the game.

Didin't seem to help much, tried doing that and putting my dpi back to normal and the horrible acceleration was still there. Still felt bad after lowering the driver sens too. Only way I get get it to feel anywhere near right is lowering my dpi to 900 from 1800.

Not playing nearly enough as I would like at the moment. Between working, sleeping and eating I've got like maybe 4 hours a day spareish. I feel a MASSIVE SESH coming on the weekend! :D

Reddit? Grabbed mine last night!

Nope, I saw it on battlelog.

For me. it's about the same, I've experienced a little bit of all of that, but only for a few seconds here and there. All in all it's been pretty smooth though.

So then renting the game is worthless.

Correct, at least for multi-player. They are trying to curb companies like Gamestop making money off used games. Though I think you can buy the Online Pass for 800 Microsoft Points. Only $10, and if I rented it, I would. I'm personally loving the game so far.

I'm loving the fact that one can spawn directly into vehicles now. The only thing is I've yet to find a chopper pilot who doesn't crash me within a few seconds. At least I put in the 2h of effort earlier today in coop to figure out how to fly the damned things. They need to implement some sort of licensing system or something, haha. I'm still pure ass with the jets. I have difficulty turning properly, and still managing to determine which way I should be headed. I usually end up going straight up instead of a nice bank turn.

Flying is easy enough. Staying alive long enough to be effective is a different story entirely though. I think they make it entirely way to easy to shoot down aircraft. On the other though, a good aircraft pilot can be a nightmare.

I had a guy in a game yesterday who was flying jets and destroying tanks I was in every time. That sucked. And it seems they made it so vehicle flairs recharge faster than you can reload an rpg in bf3, unlike how it was in bc2.

Agreed, even with flares you get locked onto so many times its impossible to stay in the air very long. On operation firestorm you are always being locked on by a combo of other aircraft and stingers on the ground, your flares aren't enough, because on that map for example they always have visibility to lock onto you unless you are on the very edges of the map.

Anti-air needs to be nerfed a bit for sure. the jets aren't even that threatening to ground forces in this game anyway... (besides the warthog on caspian rush)

I have a really annoying problem, every now and then the game will do a freeze frame or seem like it skips along, it always seems to happen when I encounter an enemy player and then I usually die while I wait for it to correct itself. Does anyone else have this issue? I changed my graphical settings from high to low and nothing seems to make a difference, just random freezing every now and then...otherwise the game runs at a constant 40-50fps for me.

I tried updating graphics drivers but it makes no difference.

Intel Q9550

4gb ram

AMD 6870HD

newest drivers from ATI? could be just a problem with the game, laggy and what not. bad company 2 did the same type of things to me until they patched it and ATI released drivers that worked properly...

    • AI is the justification that company administrators use to lay people off; it is not the end all, be all touted in the media (many of whom can't tell a microchip from a potato chip). Greed is main driving factor behind its adoption; the other is remaining relevant in the face of competition from other entities.
    • Firefox 152.0.2 is out with fixes for performance, translation, and cloud storage services by Taras Buria A new bug-fixing update is now rolling out to Firefox users in the Release Channel. Less than a week ago, Mozilla fixed crashes on Intel Raptor Lake processors with version 152.0.1. Now, Mozilla has prepared yet another set of fixes that address problems with localization, playback issues of certain MP4 files, and performance issues on website that perform various encryption operations at once. Here is the full changelog: Firefox 152.0.2 is now available for download from Mozilla's FTP. Existing installations will get the update over the next several hours. The latest version will also be available soon on the official website, the Microsoft Store, and Neowin's Software page. You can find Firefox 152.0.2 release notes in the official documentation. In case you missed it, Mozilla released Firefox 152 earlier this month. The latest feature update brought reworked settings with a more streamlined user interface, JPEG XL support, new features for Private mode, a new way to mute a tab (just type "mute" in the address bar), and many more. You can find the complete changelog here. In other Firefox news, Mozilla recently published its roadmap, where the company detailed the upcoming Nova redesign and other features it plans to implement. Mozilla wants to make the new user interface easier to navigate and more modern, with a heavy focus on its privacy tools, such as its built-in VPN. If you are curious, you can already enable the new UI as described here.
