Begins takes us back to 1998 when it all started and before the events in first Resident Evil film. It stars Milla Jovovich as Alice, before she became a super-powered heroine alongside Sienna Guillory, who was confirmed last month to be reprising her role as Jill Valentine. For the first time in the series' history Alice will not be the main character. Instead Begins will follow Ms. Valentine as she finds herself in the midst of the major viral outbreak caused by Umbrella. Not enough for you?

There's a good chance that's a fake story as well

sigh... so it is a prequel... bah.

Can't Hollywood ever come up with a decent story with a beginning, middle and end??? Seems like they should at least scope out a story line for each franchise they try to make... and stick with a progression, then end the franchise gracefully, and move to fresh topics.

Heck, there are a tone of RE characters that they could follow on the journey, so it isn't like they have to weave in and out of the stories, pull things out of their arse to make a movie about, and bring prequels into play all the time.... bah.

RE the games... awesome. Movies... getting old. I'll still see it though.

Doesn't mean it's a prequel. I mean, they are rebooting the series and all that, but this movie isn't the reboot. It'll be interesting to see how they bring his character back into the movie, considering his status as chop meat and all...

A character from the second and fourth video games, Ada Wong, will appear in the film

He will join Milla Jovovich, Colin Salmon and Sienna Guillory for the new movie in the franchise.

And regarding Colin Salmon, who played the character 'One' in Resident Evil, the actor told his own Twitter followers today that he can't reveal how he returns because, "it's intrinsic to the plot."

Bloody Disgusting has confirmed is hearing of some pretty exciting news as we're exclusively being told that Michelle Rodriguez has signed to reprise her role as "Rain Ocampo" in Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Retribution 3D! Rodriguez first took on the role in Anderson's 2002 live-action adaptation of the video game franchise. Retribution is the fifth film featuring another battle between Alice and Umbrella.

We've also learned that Shawn Roberts' return as Albert Wesker will be in the form of a cameo.

Um ok as you know her and Colin Salmon died in the first film. Are they going to do some Saw-like flashbacks or something? And Wesker has only a cameo?

Yes. Also Ada Wong and Barry Burton. [source]

Oh no... You've just made my internal RE fancenter shatter into little pieces.

    • Finally we can whole-heartedly recommend the AMD 9070 GRE thanks to this discount by Sayan Sen Earlier this month at Computex 2026 AMD released the Radeon RX 9070 GRE for a global audience. We reviewed the GPU and it scored 8 out of 10 for gaming and 7.5 out of 10 for productivity including things like AI performance. The card launched for $550 which we thought was a bit on the higher side, though currently you are getting the chance to get the Gigabyte Gaming variant of the GPU for just $500 thanks to this discount (purchase link under the specs table down below). As such we can finally whole-heartedly recommend this GPU. The card employs Gigabyte's WINDFORCE cooling system which combines multiple design elements such as alternate-spinning Hawk fans, a vapor chamber, and composite heat pipes to manage heat dissipation. The Server-grade Thermal conductive gel further helps in this department. The inclusion of a semi-passive cooling mode allows the fans to remain inactive under low workloads, which allows for reduced noise operation during lighter usage. There is dual BIOS switch that allows toggling between performance and silent modes. The technical specs of the Gigabyte Gaming RX 9070 GRE OC is given in the table below: Specification Value Boost Clock Up to 2920 MHz Game Clock Up to 2340 MHz Stream Processors 3072 Memory Clock 18 Gbps Memory Size 12 GB Memory Type GDDR6 Memory Bus 192-bit Memory Bandwidth 432 GB/s Card Bus Interface PCI Express 5.0 Max Resolution 7680 × 4320 Max Displays (Multi-view) 4 Card Dimensions 288 × 132 × 50 mm (L × W × H) Recommended Power Supply 700 W Power Connectors 2 × 8-pin Display Outputs 2 × DisplayPort 2.1a 2 × HDMI 2.1b Get it at the link below: GIGABYTE Gaming Radeon RX 9070 GRE 12GB GDDR6 GPU (GV-R907GREGAMING OC-12GD): $549.99 + $50 discount with promo code in mail => $499.99 (Sold and Shipped by Newegg US) This Newegg deal is US-specific and not available in other regions unless specified.
