Subject Delta
I mean, seriously, I'm trying to figure out if I read that right; he's saying that if you (correctly) slipstreamed your drivers into a clean ISO, then you shouldn't involve yourself in an XP vs 7 discussion? Erm....what? So XP vs 7 discussions are for who then, specifically? Those who grab "dirty" pirated versions of XP? I think he should go back to uselessly deleting random bits out of the system folders of OSes, something he calls "tweaking". That seemed to work better for him than this logical reasoning business. Well I Seriously hope for his own sake that he wasn't trying to imply that it's best to slipstream drivers into an ISO that's already been tampered with :/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982256-is-xp-sp3-still-a-good-os-for-todays-computing/page/24/#findComment-593863922 Share on other sites

DootDootMan
why are there 575 replies to a thread that only needs one? the answer is no: xp is dead. XP is not "dead". It will work for a majority of users running the OS even after the support cycle is long gone. Individuals need to realize that even after support lapses, XP will still be a viable OS. Udedenkz
I don't even get WTF you are talking about. If a driver fails, then you start with a clean ISO without any slipstreamed drivers and slipstream another driver. Not a hard concept; just slipstream drivers with a new ISO each time otherwise the setup might use the borked drivers. Plus you cannot even buy it officially anymore. xWhiplash
Well if it is not that easy to get it now, how easy will it be to get it in 2014 when support ends? How will it still be viable when we will be on Windows 9 beta (possibly) IE 11, Chrome 200 :p, and just new programs that will be several versions ahead? Not to mention 8-12 core systems as a standard maybe? Flawed
It's entertaining to see you constantly fail at trying to prove XP being a superior OS to 7. I believe he just did prove it lol. Well if it is not that easy to get it now, how easy will it be to get it in 2014 when if support ends? Fixed that for you buddy. Are you inept? :/ Yes, when one set of drivers that you slipstream don't work, you start from scratch with a fresh ISO. That's not rocket science, but you don't seem to understand that's exactly what he did. EDIT: Wow, Neowin, you guys really need to start fixing this site so that we can use it with IE9. This is quite sad that all these issues abound and IE9 has been available for some time now. Frakkin ridiculous. Even on Firefox 4, the site is slow to respond and buggy as Hell. javagreen
Hey, my Mustang [W7] guzzles much more fuel than my bicycle [XP] does. Actually my bicycle doesn't guzzle up any fuel at all .. so apparently there's something VERY wrong with my Mustang. So what if the Mustang can go fast'n'all.. I can probably still catch up with the Mustang with my bicycle on a freeway if I pedal hard enough.. that also means my bicycle is just as efficient, or actually more efficient than the Mustang while costing a fraction of the Mustang, right? EXCUSE ME, gentlemen, as I wander off to install Win95 [NOT the OSR2] on my shinay new i7 rig because W7 takes away all of my 16GB for itself and punches me in my face (through the monitor) when I demand it back so I could run my apps. W7 eats RAM for breakfast, guys, IT EATS IT... *runs* /S Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/982256-is-xp-sp3-still-a-good-os-for-todays-computing/page/24/#findComment-593868734 Share on other sites

Frylock86
Not you again. I honestly think this thread needs closed too. XP is done. Over. Dead. Kaput. 6 feet under. Riding off into the sunset. Hitting the dusty trail. History. Whatever you want to call it, Flawed's nonsense isn't going to do much of anything to save it. Time to move on. And if all you have to throw at us is InfoWaste articles, please don't waste my time. muratoner
How on earth is xp dead when it has %40 usage of all pc's.It's still in half of the computers you see.But since Frylock calls it dead i guess we can trust his instincts and move on. It's gonna take at least 2 years to get there.People would probably move on to Windows 8 by then so Win7 will never pass XP's usage ratio. Frylock86
Market share means nothing here. Follow Microsoft's Support Lifecycle. Mainstream support for Windows XP (Any version) ended April 2009. It's only extended support here on out, which means, people will be moving away from the platform. Ergo, it's dead, Jim.
