Anyone know why Firefox always slows down and even locks up for a few seconds whenever downloads are done? I don't have that issue with Chrome or other browsers. Is it because of the pop-up notification, poor code, bad extension, or what? Is that being worked on? It's my only real complaint right now. Surely I'm not the only one experiencing this, right? I'm using 9.0 Beta

Go in about:config and put browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to false.

Quite frankly, that is correct solution, but also the worst. I would strongly advise against doing that, especially considering you never know when you accidentally download a malicious file and you are going to want your antivirus to clean it up before it does any harm. Better solution would be to move to a lightweight antivirus like MSE that will keep your computer lag-free without having to compromise security.

Or maybe you should learn some technical knowledge about software and realize that stability entails a lot more than simply not crashing. And even then the current Aurora channel contained at least two crasher bugs when it was first released. Just because you don't run into them since you don't do extensive testing doesn't mean no one else does.

There's also no such thing as Aurora "having its own patching process". If you really knew how Bugzilla works you'd also know that all incoming patches are always merged with mozilla-central first, but tracking flags can be nominated for each bug to be merged to other release channels as well without waiting for the patched mozilla-central code to trickle out to them days or weeks later.

Again, if your intention is to help, then please make sure you have accurate information before you do. If your intention here is simply to put on a show of being more intelligent and informed than you actually are... then carry on, I guess.

I have posted that I have been testing the Nightly builds daily for two years. Very intensely. If you would take one second of your time to look you will find that you have no idea of what you are talking about. The Nightly Builds, The Aurora Builds and The Beta Builds indeed do have their own patching process. Each build does NOT get the same fixes as they all are in different stages of development.

Above is a screenshot of today's builds. You can see from the image that what I am posting is indeed factual.

LOL.

Anyway, there's been some activity in the tab reorder/detach animations bug. According to the dev that's working on the bug, it's 90% done. :D

Looks like the debate about dragging tabs to the bookmarks sidebar has started again, though. I don't even use that feature, but I don't understand why you would want to only allow it with an un-discoverable modifier (i.e. Ctrl- or Alt-drag).

Edit: Jumping over to Aurora for the night until I feel like going back into testing mode tomorrow. Wow, just checked and Nightly has crashed 4 times in the last 24 hours on a friend's PC that I'm using - not to mention the new memory leak. It finally feels like an Alpha to me for the first time in ages. :p

So, news about memory leaks, also happen on Neowin.net ;) https://bugzilla.moz...g.cgi?id=703125

Looks like my previous link and this bug are about same problem... I hope.

I've return to Nightly build from 14-11-2011, no problems at all, no leaks etc, so waiting for fixing this bugs...

Best response ever! LOL! These two are carrying on like an old married couple. Nobody cares. Focus on talking about Firefox improvements. Glad to hear they are working on fixing the tab animation bug.

    • Ninja Theory's new Hellblade game is action-focused and set in Purgatory by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Ninja Thery has been building its award-winning Hellblade series since 2017, delivering Senua's Sacrifice and Senua's Saga since then. Today at the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, the studio had a brand-new installment announcement featuring Senua again, but this time, she is in a version of purgatory, and the focus is on the action. Simply named Senua, this new entry is described as a "full-on action-adventure" experience, delivering an expanded focus on combat, puzzle-solving, and freedom of exploration. The developer says that it is keeping the same high production values and storytelling features of the previous games while giving what players have been asking for in the gameplay department. The entirety of Ninja Theory is now working on Senua, giving the project much more manpower than ever before, while also letting the team draw on its action roots from Devil May Cry and prior titles. However, the studio also confirmed that its previously announced Project Mara horror experience is no longer in development. Alongside snappier traversal moves, Senua will be able to take stealth and direct combat routes. She has access to her own sword, plus any enemy weapons as well, with dual wielding also being an option for most dropped melee swords, axes, and other weapons. Outside of melee combat, Senua will be able to use special abilities that let her alter the reality around her. The world is said to be about twice the size of Hellblade 2. While this won't be an open-world experience, the linear story will let players explore their surroundings further than before. The story of Senua will be set after the events of previous Hellblade titles, with our protagonist being stuck in her own version of Purgatory. The series' well-explored psychosis themes will return as well. "She’s trapped between life and death on a quest to reach the afterlife and be reunited with the ones that she’s loved and lost," adds the studio. "Her belief is that by healing the wounds of her life, she can find the peace that is the key that unlocks the gate to the afterlife." Senua is releasing on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 sometime in 2027.
    • Windows has had it, it's called camera frame server. I recall when it was first introduced in an early Windows 10 release it caused issues and there was a registry entry to disable it. Seems like they disabled it by default at some point. Windows 11 brought that toggle to the settings app (not just registry) a while ago.
    • You didn't like Mafia The Definite Edition? As a fan of the first when it came out, I liked that remake.
