The_Decryptor Veteran Posted December 3, 2011 Veteran Share Posted December 3, 2011 I agree. Like Skia library usage to increase performance on Linux and Mac OS X, if they needed it so much why used Cairo first time (I know it was used to provide better hardware acceleration to Windows platform since it uses Direct 3D backend , D2D etc.) but overall it is still copy then ANGLE library for WebGL. Now it is going after SPDY protocol. What Mozilla need to do is what we call rebuild up all code from ground. People will call me fool after all this. ... They used Cairo because it was a thin wrapper around the platform APIs they were already using, and provided extra features (like anti-aliasing). They're using Skia for some things because Android pretty much requires it (and it's faster on some platforms, so there's a speed boost). And don't forget that Mozilla wrote the Direct2D backend for Cairo, it wasn't pre-existing. They're using ANGLE for the same reason Google are, it provides a robust shader validator and prevents issues with buggy OpenGL implementations on Windows. I don't see what the issue is with implementing SPDY either, if something works (and SPDY apparently has lower overheads than HTTP, and mandates certain things most HTTP servers still consider optional) then why not implement it? (The alternative being to not implement something and fragment things) And what would another rewrite solve? BetaAddict
Me too. Whatever Chrome does I honestly don't care, Firefox is good (and fast) enough for me. I used Chrome from its initial release up until FF4 was released and haven't looked back mainly because Mozilla closed the gap on speed. After that point, there wasn't a big difference in load times, so there isn't a big sacrifice on speed. I also love the customizability of addons that Firefox has. Chrome apps are nice, but you never find apps like TabMixPlus and DownloadThemAll as we do for Firefox that make day to day use easier. Hopefully Mozilla will take the hint sometime soon and actually integrate these apps as full native features. max22
It has opt in way so you can uncheck box for silent update installation during setup. FF10 (current Aurora - next Beta) and FF11 both will have this. Best part is Addons Default to compatible.... I can not wait! +Zlip792 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/989780-meet-the-browser-firefox-next/page/55/#findComment-594495881 Share on other sites
Luis Mazza
Firefox is starting to drive me crazy. It seems there are so many bugs not fixed and they still move along to new versions without fixing old bugs. AdWords from Google is ALWAYS buggy and I have sent many reports and they don't fix it, as I did with other websites not working correctly, which are also never fixed. I'm seriously thinking about moving to Chrome... I would hate that, but I can't live with so many bugs and still be on FF side :/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/989780-meet-the-browser-firefox-next/page/55/#findComment-594495897 Share on other sites

Pictures and text are displayed incorrectly here. The problem is not displaying ads with AdWords... The problem is I can't login to my AdWords account! It has happened before, but now it is worse because it doesn't even load the page. I think Google is playing a boycott on FF. Aaron Olive
What really bugs me is that on Mac OS X Lion they have yet to implement any of the OS features for the browser like fullscreen, page bouncing when scrolling to the top and bottom of the page and the back/forward animation like safari or chrome has. It's been 5 month's since the release of Lion so WTF is the excuse? For now i'm sticking to using Safari. are we native yet?, NO. Matt Lynch
I have always prefered Firefox over the others since it was released, but now I'm starting to think that they've really lost their way. Bugs like the whole UI locking up when more anything more than two tabs attempt to load at once seem to have been ignored over pointless UI changes that end up getting reverted anyway :/ . That and the uncertainty of the Google partnership makes me wonder if Firefox can compete with the likes of Chrome and IE9? That and the uncertainty of the Google partnership makes me wonder if Firefox can compete with the likes of Chrome and IE9? I doubt the partnership with Google has anything to do with how they are developing FFx. It would be more of Google's loss to end the partnership since MS is just waiting for their current agreement to come to end to get a chance to make an offer to fully integrate and make Bing default search engine. If history shows anything on how much they are willing to invest in Bing, MS will throw upwards $100m if they have to, which is well more than what FFx is currently making. I found the reason for this problem... AdBlock is messing with Chrome and Firefox when logging in to AdWords... Turn it off and everything works. The website I sent earlier does not work fine on Chrome either. :/ As usual, addons are mostly to blame for many of the bugs that FFx has to begin with and people do not take a minute to realize that before blaming Mozilla. In chrome, they have limited what can and cannot be used for customization, which greatly limits the potential for an addon to severely break browser performance. While this is good for stability, you lose the level of customizability that makes FFx worth using over any other browser. +Gary7 Subscriber² Posted December 8, 2011 Subscriber² Share Posted December 8, 2011 Chrome can become number 1 most used browser and i still wouldn't care at all.It will still be a fail browser for me(or just a back end for a real browser, which can do more than just open web pages).Firefox is just the better browser for me. This is a fact. Firefox is my number one and the only browser I use.
