Some in-content UI work just landed in the latest nightly, still some issues with it but it looks pretty good.

I think the only thing stopping it from being enabled by default is that the new Firefox Account based Sync preferences don't work.

Generational GC also landed and HTTP2 Draft 10 but http2 landing caused Gmail not opening for me, so I disabled it.

Generational GC will be in tomorrow's Nightly or if respin happened then today.

Yeah, Google enabled HTTP/2 Draft 10 support just around the same time it landed in Firefox, but neither knew that, so they didn't test it before it went "live", and it turns out Google's implementation has some bugs so kills any connections from Firefox.

if Firefox is losing users, i reckon most of them are Linux users going over to Chrome cause of Flashplayer.  i know its been reported an i suffer from these random lockups also that if i click on a URL an it opens in another Tab, the browser will lockup.

They're either going to get rid of any plugin interface (Plugins suck and are going the way of the dinosaur, there isn't Flash on mobile platforms anymore, Apple won that battle), or move it over to one based around web standards (So if a plugin wants to do 3D drawing, then the browser just hands it a plain WebGL context, etc.). Google wants to replace NPAPI with their own creation to lock plugins to Chrome (See Flash on Linux, only works with Chrome)

Major new feature in tonight's Nightly.

Normally when a page threw up these dialogs it took focus for the entire window, now you can just close the tab and don't have to worry about the site trying to keep your on their page. They're hoping to get it into 30 because it's such a big deal.

Yeah this is one of my biggest annoyances with firefox, I'd be very happy if this makes it into 30.

Would be possible to add Back/Next buttons and reload button like its now in 27 with Stylish?

Im talking about Australis :)

Link to one of Frank Lion's post containing code for adding features back using Userstyle: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=13220879#p13220879

Also the Classic Theme Restorer extension does that too, right?

Right but he specifically asked for using stylish that's why I referred him to that link. He only wants to revert stuff partially not wanted to change whole stuff and adding another addon to its inventory that's what I think.

Thanks, im going to test asap

Yes, but i prefer to use Stylish becasuse i already use the extension and i don't want to have another just for that :)

Latest Nightly shows close buttons on tabs no matter what the about:config setting is.  Is this a temporary bug or permanent?

Permanent.. They removed code to disable close button related code. It now can be controlled by addons only.

Incidentally Chrome does the same. What a coincidence, is it not?

Thanks.  Do you recommend or know of any small add-ons made that provide options for the close buttons?

Tab Mix Plus has always been my go-to for anything tab related.  Can customize all sorts of things with them.  No idea how well it works with Nightly.. working fine with 29RC though. Looking briefly at their forums reports that the official build is problematic, but there's talk with the dev builds.  Classic Theme Restorer has an option for the close tab buttons too.

    • New Outlook for Windows and Web is getting a simple but very useful email feature by Sayan Sen Recently Microsoft put up a blog post highlighting not one, not two, but 15 total reasons why it feels you should switch to New Outlook already. If that was not enough, the company is bringing another new feature soon that could finally compel you to switch over to the new app. According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the tech giant is making changes to how message sorting works when users choose criteria besides the traditional options of From, Subject, or Date Received. The idea is to provide better options for the attribute being used for sorting and make it easier to understand why messages appear in a particular order. For those unfamiliar Outlook already allows users to sort emails using a variety of fields including sender, category, importance, subject, and message size. Users can access these options through the Filter menu in Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. With the upcoming change, whenever users sort by a field other than From, Subject, or Date Received, Outlook will automatically display an additional column showing the value being used for the sort. For example, if messages are sorted by Size, a Size column will appear in the message list, allowing users to immediately see the data that determines the ordering of emails. Microsoft believes this should make sorting behavior simpler and reduce the need to manually adjust views or inspect individual messages. Support for sorting by Flag Due Date is also coming and should be especially be helpful for users who rely on email flags to manage follow-up tasks and deadlines. The feature is listed under Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 564803 and is expected to reach general availability beginning later this month itself (June 2026). You can find the entry here. As always though, users should keep in mind that roadmap timelines can change and rollout schedules may occasionally be adjusted by Microsoft. Outlook for Web is also set to receive this feature.
    • That is true. but the liability side of my balance sheet is clean and has been for decades.  Nobody comes a knocking,  calling or writing harassing me for the money i owe them.😎👍  Haven't dealt with "a money changer" in decades and like Jesus it was in Jerusalem.  Don't have much money, but have even less stress in my life.👍👍     P.S.  Sorry, can't walk on water or change it to wine,
    • Maybe ? DLSS Swapper (can swap the DLSS/FSR/XeSS versions) as long as the game (typically online/competitive) doesn't checks for file tampering. You can try different version(s) or update if not the current version of the FSR. https://github.com/beeradmoore/dlss-swapper
