A 4K comparison of Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro

Which looks better?

There is much anticipation when it comes to Microsoft's next gaming console, the Xbox One X. The unit has been touted as far back as last year with the firm showing off its strengths by proclaiming that it has 40 percent more power than any other console, 12GB GDDR5 of graphics memory, a six teraflop GPU for 4K, and more. We are still a few months away from the November release, but that hasn't stopped the comparison between it and the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Although Rise of the Tomb Raider saw a release on the Xbox One nearly two years ago, the title will be gaining an update that will enhance the graphics for the Xbox One X. DigitalFoundry went hands-on with the game at gamescom 2017 and although they weren't able to obtain and direct capture footage, they did put together a short video comparing the graphics of the title for the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4 Pro.

By utilizing the trailer that was released earlier in the week that shows off the graphical enhancements that will be present on the Xbox One X, it is clear that the version on Microsoft's console will be graphically superior. This isn't a complete overhaul mind you and just adds little details here and there on characters and environments, to give it that extra kick.

If interested in all of the details, check out the video. While it isn't a full review, it does give us glimpse of what to expect from the Xbox One X when it arrives on November 7 for $499.
