Apple releases sixth betas of iOS 14.5, watchOS 7.4, macOS 11.3, and tvOS 14.5

iPhone 11 Pro in the grass

Today, Apple is rolling out the sixth developer betas of Apple's upcoming minor updates. They include iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, watchOS 7.4, tvOS 14.5, and macOS 11.3 Big Sur.

Six developer betas is a lot for a minor update, but to be fair, this one actually packs a fair bit of features. One of the big ones is that you'll now be able to unlock your iPhone with an Apple Watch, solving the year-old problem of having to type a PIN when you're wearing a mask. Of course, that problem is even more than a year old if you're in a profession where you wear masks even when it's not a pandemic.

Also new is support for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 controllers, although last-gen controllers have worked for some time on Apple's range of platforms. There are also a bunch of new emoji characters coming along.

At this point, Apple is pretty much releasing new builds on a weekly basis, so don't be surprised if these updates launch pretty soon. Also, Apple just announced the dates of WWDC for this year, so starting on June 7, we'll be talking about developer betas for iOS 15, watchOS 8, and more.
