Celeste is free to claim today on the Epic Games Store

Epic Games Store's 12 Days of Free Games event has refreshed for the sixth time, ending Ape Out's run. The freebie that marks the halfway point is Celeste, the hit platformer from Matt Makes Games.

Those who have been keeping up with the Epic Games giveaways from the past year should recognize that Celeste has been part of a free promotion before, specifically the August 29 one. This is the first repeat of a game giveaway, however, the previous time it was a bonus game attached to the Inside giveaway due to its Mature rating.

Celeste offers players a challenging platforming experience, but it also has several assist modes that can be enabled to make the game much easier if needed. Here's how the Epic Games Store describes the game:

Help Madeline survive her inner demons on her journey to the top of Celeste Mountain, in this super-tight platformer from the creators of TowerFall. Brave hundreds of hand-crafted challenges, uncover devious secrets, and piece together the mystery of the mountain.

The game is being offered for both Windows and macOS systems. Here are the minimum requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 or newer
  • Processor: Intel Core i3 M380
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics:Intel HD 4000
  • Storage: 1300 MB available space
  • OS: Lion 10.7.5, 32/64-bit or newer
  • Processor: Intel Core i3 M380
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics:OpenGL 3.0+ (2.1 with ARB extensions acceptable)
  • Storage: 1300 MB available space

Head to Celeste's Epic Games Store page to claim a copy for free. This promotion will come to an end in a day, with a new game replacing it at 11AM ET on December 25. As usual, the holiday sale from the store is still active too, alongside its $10 coupon.
