Google kicks off the Google Play Store summer sale, including a $0.99 movie rental

We have officially started summer in the US and it looks like Google is starting the season off right, providing discounts on games, apps, movies, music and more on the Google Play Store for Android.

If you're looking to catch up on some TV shows or movies, or just want to watch an old classic, you'll be able to grab a rental for only $0.99, while TV shows will be discounted by 50%.

If shows and movies aren't quite your thing, you can always take advantage of some premium titles that have been discounted by up to 80%. This includes titles like Lara Croft GO, Hitman Sniper, Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies, and more. You can check out the full list of games in the image above.

Google will also have plenty of books available for purchase, marking them down by 50 to 80%. As an added bonus, you can still take advantage of an offer that was introduced in May, and subscribe to the Google Play Music service and qualify for a four-month free trial.

While the sale does start today, you'll have until July 6 to claims the discounts for the apps, games, and books - movie and TV show discounts will be live until July 13 in some markets.
