HP announces new EliteBook 800 series and ZBook PCs

HP announced a round of commercial laptops today, including those from its EliteBook 800 lineup and its ZBook mobile workstations. They all use the Intel Whiskey Lake vPro processors that were announced earlier today.

The EliteBook 800 series is HP's mainstream commercial laptop lineup, so as you'd expect, today's announcement is about bringing premium features down to the mainstream. There are four new models from the EliteBook 800 G6 series, including the 830, 840, 850, and the x360 830. As the number indicate, they come with 13-, 14-, and 15-inch screens, while the x360 is a 13-inch convertible.

They include HP's renowned security features, including Sure View Gen3. The privacy screen offers up to a 1000-nit display, and when someone looks at your screen on an angle, they won't be able to read it. With Gen3, it now looks dark instead of white.

With HP Sure Sense, the company is using AI and machine learning to stop zero-day attacks that haven't even been seen before. While this is new, it also comes alongside of the Sure Click browser that protects you from attachments, malicious links, and more.

They include better connectivity, with support for gigabit 4G LTE and Wi-Fi 6. In fact, HP says that they're the first mainstream business notebooks to offer gigabit LTE. For battery life, HP says you'll get up to 18 hours, with Fast Charge that gets you 50% in 30 minutes.

HP also says that they're meant to last a long time, allowing you to easily remove the bottom panel and access various components like memory, storage, WLAN, and WWAN. They've also been tested with 19 MIL-STD tests, so they should be pretty durable.

And then there are the new ZBook 14u and 15u, which are 14- and 15-inch laptops, respectively. These are from HP's mobile workstation lineup, and the firm says that you get 50% more graphics power from the AMD Radeon GPU than the last generation.

HP says that the ZBook 14u is the thinnest mobile workstation in the world, while the 15u is the thinnest and lightest 15-inch mobile workstation. The 14u is also the first 100% AdobeRGB 14-inch mobile workstation.

The new EliteBook 800 G6 series will be available in May, while the x360 830 G6 is coming in June. The ZBook 14u and ZBook 15u will also be available in June.
