Lenovo ThinkPad T14s with AMD Ryzen PRO unboxing and first impressions

Announced at what would have been Mobile World Congress this year, Lenovo's ThinkPad T14s comes in both Intel vPro and AMD Ryzen PRO flavors, and Lenovo sent me an AMD model. It comes with a Ryzen 7 4750U processor, and it sure smokes its Intel competition.

So far, I've only seen the Ryzen 5 4500U in action, and that's more comparable to a Core i7 than a Core i5. Intel's Comet Lake vPro is built on a 14nm node, while AMD is up to 7nm. Lenovo actually gave me the option between the two, or to review both, and I chose just the AMD unit, because frankly, this is more interesting.

The T-series is the most popular ThinkPad, and it's designed to be the workhorse of the lineup. The T14s is made to be a slimmed down version, and this unit weighs in at just 2.81 pounds. It's quite nice, and it feels really good to hold. It also packs a 14-inch FHD touchscreen, although Lenovo offers a variety of display options. The UHD panel, however, is exclusive to the Intel model, although the AMD model gets you HDMI 2.0.
