LinkedIn has announced new features meant to help users communicate with one another in more ways than just sending a message or commenting on posts. The new features are apparently inspired by some of the capabilities already available in other major social media services such as Facebook.
One of those capabilities is tagging people in photos, which has been available on other social networking sites for a long time now. LinkedIn may be quite late to the game, but it's still a welcome development.
It also added support for reactions in an effort to provide "meaningful and constructive interactions" to users. Reactions include some already known icons such as "Like" and "Heart" as well as a new type of response like the "Clap" button.
In addition, users can now share video messages to their contacts on LinkedIn. It should be noted that video sharing has long been available on the service in the form of posts. The new feature extends that capability to messaging.
It's also easier now to post slides and PDF directly to your LinkedIn feed, group, or page. Plus, on mobile, the post button now lives in the bottom center of the screen while the message button resides in the top right corner so that you can quickly tap them anytime as you scroll down your feed.
Finally, you can easily search for groups or hashtags you follow by tapping on your profile picture on mobile or by finding them on the right side of your feed on desktop.
