Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy gets bombastic launch trailer, hits October 26

Square Enix seems to be on a roll when it comes to Marvel games. The publisher released Marvel's Avengers around this time last year, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy hits consoles and PC on October 26, 2021. While Marvel's Avengers received poor reviews at launch, judging from its Metacritic score, developer Eidos-Montréal wants to change that by giving us a Marvel game with complex combat and a hilarious story.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has gone gold, meaning that the game's ready to be shipped and only bug fixes have to happen before launch. We also got a proper launch trailer since the game will be available in two weeks. You can take a look at it below.

In this third-person action-adventure game, you are Star-Lord, and thanks to your bold yet questionable leadership, you have persuaded an oddball crew of unlikely heroes to join you. Some jerk has set off a chain of catastrophic events, and only you can hold the unpredictable Guardians together long enough to fight off total interplanetary meltdown. Use Element Blasters, tag-team beat downs, jet boot-powered dropkicks, nothing’s off-limits. If you think it’s all going to plan, you’re in for a world of surprises, with the consequences of your actions guaranteed to keep the Guardians on their toes. In this original Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy story, you’ll cross paths with powerful new beings and unique takes on iconic characters, all caught in a struggle for the galaxy’s fate. It’s time to show the universe what you’re made of.

The bombastic trailer manages to capture the intense story, but also the fact that the Guardians of the Galaxy are a hilarious group of heroes. The fact that there are dialogue choices in the game should enhance replayability. The visuals also look stunning and it'll be interesting to see how it plays on current-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

You can pre-order Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy through the Microsoft Store or the platform of your choice. The game starts at $59.99, but there's a Digital Deluxe Edition available for $10 more that includes additional content like costumes.
