Microsoft adding Pinterest boards to Bing image searches

Microsoft has announced that its Bing image searches will now include relevant Pinterest boards in the results in an expansion of Microsoft's partnership with Pinterest.

In April, Microsoft announced a collaboration with the popular image board website Pinterest that lets people pin images found via a Bing search to a Pinterest board. Today, Microsoft announced yet another partnership with Pinterest that involves Bing searches.

In a new post on the official Bing blog, Microsoft stated:

... we’re excited to announce Image collections for Bing image search, which brings together curated collections of images from around the web. Now, when you search for an image on Bing, you’ll notice related boards on Pinterest right alongside regular search results.

So for example, if you were to search for, say, "updo hairstyles" on Bing (hey, some people like to change their look every once in a while) you not only see images of famous people with an updo hair look, you can also see related Pinterest boards on the right hand side of the image search results. Clicking on one of the boards takes you to that Pinterest image page.

Microsoft is likely to add even more image collection partners for Bing in the future. Indeed, the blog post states, "This is only the beginning of our exploration of ways to showcase social communities within Bing image search, so stay tuned for more in the weeks and months ahead."
